"Pearl!" Steven yelled out to Pearl, as she laid there at the bottom of the staircase she shakily began to stand up, shaken but gaining back her footing she looked up to the creature with a new aggravated stare that I haven't seen before.
As she stared down the large Bramble Horse a familiar light shown from her forehead and the same spiral spear she used in the fight against the large Salamander began take form and fall into her hand, it's white and cyan blade glistening as she held it forward readying herself for the oncoming battle.
"Steven, get Matthew as deep into the building as possible!" She shouted as she shot forward attempting to get the first hit.
Looking onward in awe she barely missed the monster as it slid to the side as if pulled by the very vegetation that sat on the stone floor, this allowed the horse to shoot out several thorn covered vines from out of its body to crash into Pearl sending her flying to the far side of the room impacting the wall.
With a loud cracking sound as the walls former pristine shape was left damaged as Pearl stood right back up with several injuries laid visible.
Looking back to the horse it's stood there waiting for Pearl to make another move as an overwhelming stare down took place I was taken out of it as I shot forward.
"Wha!" Looking behind me I saw Steven pushing me ahead towards the far end of the room where another pathway laid open.
"Steven!" I called out as I looked back to Pearl, as soon as I did so that very second slowed down as I was taken back at what I saw, Pearls previously stressed glare become lighter as both Steven and I kept on forward, leaving her alone with that beast.
"Pearl?" I whispered to myself, a heavy feeling in my heart taking hold as I saw her dedication, and how far she was willing to go just to keep those around her safe from harm.
As time returned to normal and the weight of the situation lingered, the horse let out a defiant neigh as thorns shot from its feet to Pearl causing her jump out of the way to harmlessly impact the stone flooring, this however allowed the horse to leap from the vine covered entranceway and through the air unimpeded as it flew towards both Steven and I.
"Ahh!" Both Steven and I cried out in unison as it landed directly in front of us, as it faced the path we were trying to escape through it stood there with its hind legs facing us. As I sat there my eyes widened in horror and my heart dropped as Both Steven and I realized the very situation that we both stood in as a fearful gasp left both us both.
Then within the blink of an eye it's legs came firing towards us, my chest feeling numb as the hoofed feet quickly closed the distance.
As that feeling lingered I was sent flying backwards as soon as the attack made contact with something else. As the room became a blur and the feeling of gravity shifting horizontally I creaked open my eyes and was surprised to see that the world had taken a surprising yet familiar shade of pink, the unfocused blurry shape of the world flying past us as a strong sense of vertigo took over.
As the very room around us rocked and shook the familiar pink lens disappeared and everything stopped, and then I felt the harsh impact of the ground and the violent stop of motion as I was sent flying off of my wheelchair up several steps of the rounding staircase.
"Agh!" I cried out in pain as I sat uncomfortably sat down on the stairs, with my eyes shut tightly I laid there focusing on the fact that I had just been sent flying, yet the oncoming pain that I should be feeling in my chest wasn't there.
"Steven!" Pearl cried out in a painfully panicked matter, hearing this I forced my eyes open to look further down to the bottom of the stairs, close to the fountain.
I gasped out quietly as my heart sank at the sight of Steven laying there with both eyes closed. Looking back at what had just happened, and the memory of what happened previously with the Salamander as the pink sphere from the previous monstrous encounter had popped up just now and I couldn't help but feel guilt twist my heart.
Forcefully lifting my gaze away from Steven I looked over to Pearl as she stared down the equine monster with a fierce yet cold glare as it stood below me, yet as she did so one thing caught my eye.
On the back of the Brambled monstrosity stuck out Pearl's spear, lodged in the back of the monster it kept on shaking it around as though it was trying to dislodge the weapon from its back.
"Oof..." I breath out haggardly as I forced myself to my feet as a burning pain climbed up my body. Ignoring the pain however I manage to stand up on both feet, looking down to Steven as he moved around groggily he slowly began to pull himself up from the ground. Shifting my gaze over to Pearl I looked her in the eyes as her sight slowly shifts from the horse to me, looking to her and the corner she stood in I let out a deep breath and then a light chuckle.
Bending my knees I pulled my arms back slightly and look forwards as I felt myself begin to panic as my entire body kept on telling not to do what I was about to do
Unknown to me Pearls eyes shot open as she immediately knew the decision that ran through my mind.
"Aghhh!" I yell out fiercely as I launch myself forward with my arms outstretched, looking down to Steven and seeing him stand on both of his feet I couldn't help but let loose a goofy smile as I flew towards the most dangerous creature that I've ever met to this day.
"Matthew!" Both Pearl and Steven cried out as I landed firmly on the horses back.
"Argh." I yelped in pain as thorns slid across my arms and legs, quickly reaching and grabbing the pole of the spear I forced myself to my feet as I stood directly on the horses back, suddenly feeling my weight on it the horse began to buck around as it tried to swipe me off as if simply annoyed by my presence.
Standing well enough in place as my shoes were held in place by the countless amount of thorns that were dug into both of them I held on tightly to the spear with my one good arm, pulling on it and finding it barely lodged out I forced my other arm up to grab a hold of the spear, ignoring the sensation of both the pain crawling up my arm and the cast that sat wrapped around my arm I yelled out not only in pain but in adrenaline filled courage.
"Rhaggh!" Taking the spear out of the creature I held it up high as the horse became still as within that very second time had stopped, and and a single breath stood motionless in my lungs.
As the world around me slowed and the possible consequences of my actions not even taking form I stood there as I felt the air in my lungs leave me, striking downward I struck the equine monster and dug the spear deeper, much more from where it was previously.
As I stood there with an additional foot of the spear digging into the back of the horse, I looked to where I had made contact and noticed something deep within the curling brambles, a feint sage coloured glow shone from beneath the thorns.
As my eyes widened I looked down to Pearl as a proud awestruck Pearl looked to me, as soon as our eyes made contact I pulled in another breath of air to tell Pearl of what I just saw.
"P-!" Before anything could be said I was flung off the horse as I flew backwards as a sharp numbness exploded from my chest and the weightlessness of my body flew violently as red droplets trailed through the air with me.
It all happened so fast that my grip on the spear didn't loosen one bit as I still held it tightly as my body wasn't able to react quick enough to the speed of what just happened.
As I shot backwards I made a sickening sound as I impacted the stone that stood behind me, my lungs couldn't take in any air, and a dull darkness began to take hold of my vision.
As my consciousness began to dimmer I felt a soft slow feeling take over my body as my eyes finally closed softly.
