Two days later Spencer enters her kitchen, with her mother and sister discussing what needs to be done to cancel the wedding and the announcement and everything with it.
When she enters the kitchen Melissa purposefully bumps into her before tossing away her bridal magazines one by one and when Spencer tries to explain and apologize none of the two women let her get a word out.
Around school everyone is excited about the party that's going to be thrown the next day.
"So hey Scott, I know you're a good friend of Hanna's so I'm wondering, do you want to go to the party tomorrow with me? I promise it'll be worth your time." Mona says, following the athletic boy into the school after having waited for him at the bike rack.
"Uhm look I like you Mona, in a sisterly sort of way. But I think you're looking for something more in a romantic direction right? I'm sorry but I don't want to lead someone on, so I can't go with you." Scott tells her nicely.
"Guess I should've seen that coming. I mean you shot down every one of those sexy Field hockey bitches who threw themselves at you, because the right one wasn't among them right?" Mona asks, turning his head to an upset Spencer, struggling to open her locker.
"You read me like a book." Scott chuckles, giving her a side hug.
"Ask Kai. He seems interested in you." Scott adds, before walking over to Spencer.
"He wishes." Mona replies and watches him as he goes over to Spencer.
"Hey. Need some help with that?" Scott asks, dropping his bag down next to her locker.
"Still upset because of your family huh?" Scott asks, not looking at her and dials her combination, hearing the clicks with his werewolf hearing.
"Yeah. By the way how do you do that? I know you don't know this locker number yet." Spencer says, watching him dial the numbers one by one.
"It's a gift." He smirks and opens her locker, catching three books before they fall down.
"Ap Russian History huh?" Scott says, seeing the first book's cover.
"Yup. My personal hell." She says.
"Come on I remember you lecturing me about this two years ago when you were preparing for this course." Scott says putting the books in her locker before leaning against the one next to her with his back.
"So, family?" He asks again.
"You don't want to know." Spencer says, shaking her head.
"I already know. I came over to check on you after your dinner with robo-dad and nightmare-sister and saw you kissing her fiancée. After she already saw." Scott tells Spencer.
"At least now I know how she knew about it." Spencer says sighing.
"Look. I know since I have no siblings and barely half a family it's not my place, but did you talk to them? Explain why you kissed him?" Scott asks, following her when she closes her locker and walks to her class.
"I tried. He kissed me. And while I like him, I didn't invite him to kiss me." Spencer says exhausted.
"OK. I'll see what I can do about it." Scott says.
"What do you mean?" Spencer asks.
"Don't worry. Can't have my only opposition as field hockey god only half in the game." He tells her with a smirk.
"God of meddling maybe." Spencer laughs while Scott leaves for his own class.
After school Scott is hanging out with Toby at school, since there Jenna won't demand her brother's attention.
"So we can finally catch up, sorry about the other day. I wasn't feeling too well." Scott says.
"You can admit that you got jealous and pissed because of Spencer." Toby says relaxed.
"Fine. I got pissed and had to leave." Scott says.
"Looks like I'm not as mysterious as I want to be huh?" Scott asks with a chuckle.
"Well Jenna seems to think you are. But I see that you have only changed for the better." Toby compliments him.
"Thanks man. I really missed having a guy friend. And I'm sorry for ignoring you back then. It's just my mom put a lot of pressure on me to stay away and I couldn't disappoint her." Scott says.
"What about now?" Toby asks.
"Now I don't care what she thinks. I'm old enough to decide who my friends are and who aren't." Scott says with a grin.
"After a whole year." Toby laughs.
"A lot has changed. I mean look, back then I would be gasping for air now." Scott says, doing a burpee.
"True. Good to see you're in such good health now." Toby says.
"Shh. Do you hear that?" Scott then says, motioning for him to stay quiet, hearing something with his wolf hearing and realizes that it's Emily struggling with someone in the girls locker room.
"Come on." Scott says, taking off down the halls with Toby and they storm into the girls locker room, Scott tackling Ben against a wall. Ben punches Scott on his back and the werewolf simply grabs him by his throat, lifting the taller teen up and choking him.
"Leave her alone." Scott warns darkly.
"He got the message, let him go Scott." Toby says, pulling Scott back. When Scott releases Ben he tries to attack the werewolf but Toby punches him in the face, hard enough to knock him down to the floor.
"Come on Emily, let's get you out of here." Scott says, leading her away after she yells at Ben "we're over."
"Are you OK?" Toby asks the girl while walking into the pool with her and Scott.
"Yeah, thanks. How did you know I was in trouble." She asks the two, unsure how to feel about Toby.
"Scott heard you." Toby replies.
"Yeah well I heard something." Scott lies.
"Are you sure you're fine?" Scott asks.
"Yeah. I just want to get changed and get home." Emily says.
"I'll go make sure your former boyfriend is gone." Scott says, going back into the changing room and sees no trace of Ben remaining.
"You can come back in. We'll wait right outside for you Emily." Scott says, leaving the room with Toby.
"Thanks for having my back man." Scott thanks the older teen, fist bumping with him.
"No worries. My reputation can't get any worse anyways." Toby says amused.
"Guess not." Scott laughs, the two sitting down next to the door.
"Can you take her home? I have somewhere I gotta be." Scott asks Toby.
"Sure." Toby agrees after a short pause.
"Why the hesitation? I thought you got along great as neighbors." Scott asks.
"Before Jenna came. After that it's just not been the same." Toby answers.
"Thank you two. I don't want to know what could've happened if you didn't help me." Emily thanks the two boys.
"Don't worry Em. And Toby will make sure you get home safe." Scott says, hugging the girl.
"I have to be somewhere sadly." Scott says.
"Vet?" Emily asks.
"No, doing a chore for Spencer." Scott says and leaves the school.
"He really loves her." Toby says when the two teens start to walk home as well.
"I know. She never realized it though which is surprising since she's the smartest person I know." Emily chuckles.
After leaving Scott calls the Hastings house and finds out where Wren is staying now. He gets on a train and pays the Englishman a visit.
"Hello?" A guy asks answering the door Scott rang.
"Uhm hi. Is a Wren staying here?" Scott asks.
"Yeah, just a second." The guy replies and fetches Wren.
"Hello. What can I do for you? Wait, Scott right?" Wren asks politely as ever.
"Yeah. Look I need you to call Spencer's wreck of a family and explain what happened." Scott says, leaning against the railing of the stairs to the apartment.
"I don't feel right doing that." Wren says unsure.
"I'm not asking. I'm telling you to." Scott says, cracking his knuckles.
"Heh, OK. Let's calm down and I'll call them." Wren says, fishing out his phone.
"You do that." Scott says with a cocky grin.
"Voicemail." Wren says.
"So leave a message." Scott says expectantly.
"Hello, this is Wren. I'm calling to apologize again. And I want you to know that I deeply regret kissing Spencer. It only happened that one time and was a mistake." Wren says.
"It ended." Wren tells Scott.
"Then call again. I didn't hear a word about you taking responsibility for making a move on Spence." Scott tells him.
Wren dials again and says, "Wren again. I didn't get to finish, uhm what I wanted to say is that I initiated the kiss on Spencer, this isn't her fault and I want you all to know that."
"We're good?" Wren asks once he hangs up.
"For now." Scott answers, stepping down the stairs.
"Out of curiosity I can guess why you're here but what would've been your plan if I didn't call?" Wren asks.
"You don't want to know the details." Scott says dangerously and leaves.
Only an hour later Spencer call Wren asking to meet with him and half an hour later they are sitting on the stairs in front of the apartment.
"So, why are you here?" Wren asks.
"I have a request. I need you to call my parents and explain that that night you kissed me." Spencer says.
"Is this a joke?" Wren asks.
"What?" Spencer asks angrily.
"I mean I just called your house. Didn't you ask Scott to come over here about two hours ago?" Wren asks.
"No, two hours ago I didn't even know where you are staying. Scott was here?" Spencer tells him.
"Yeah. He asked me to leave a message for your folks and left no room for discussion on that matter." Wren says.
"Why would he come here?" Spencer asks surprised.
"He's a bright kid. And he knows your family very well I'm guessing. Though from my interaction with them. Me admitting my guilt won't matter to them. They'll let you off the hook once you won something or ace a test." Wren tells her.
"Maybe. Well, if you've already called then there's not much more for me to do here." Spencer says.
"You know what I regret most about this Spencer?" Wren asks.
"What?" She questions.
"That I fell for the wrong sister first." Wren answers.
"I have to go, or I'll miss my train." Spencer excuses herself, walking away with a smile on her face.
That night Spencer is frustrated because she can't concentrate and write the history report. She already has a copy of the one Melissa did 6 years ago on her flash drive and just as she's about to put it in her computer to copy it Melissa and her mother return from the club.
"Hi, how was the club?" Spencer asks.
"Chilly. No one there can use a thermostat." Her mother answers.
"Did you eat?" She asks Spencer.
"Yeah, I made some pasta, you're welcome to have some." Spencer answers.
"Ugh, I can't I don't need to be depressed and fat." Melissa says.
"You're right. I'll make us a salad, just let me get out of these clothes." Their mother says.
The doorbell then rings and Scott steps in past Melissa who opens the door.
"Bad timing?" He asks once he's in the middle of their living room already.
"No, not at all. I was just about to tell Spencer that Wren called. He said you went to the city to ask him to clear you name. That's ridiculous. You two really deserve each other. I thought I was pathetic." Melissa says venomously.
"Actually Melissa. I went to him." Scott chimes in.
"Why?" She asks.
"I saw that Spencer was having a hard time because of what he did. That's enough reason for me." Scott says.
"Fine. Still I don't forgive you for this sis." Melissa says, leaving Scott and Spencer alone.
"Do I smell pasta?" Scott asks, sniffing the air.
"You want some? My family thinks I'm gonna try to poison them. Apparently." Spencer says.
"Don't mind if I do." Scott says, grabbing a plate and fork and filling his plate up with Spencer's cooking.
"Are you sure they think you're trying to poison them?" Scott asks while eating the noodles.
"It was a metaphor." Spencer says.
"Let me just say I finally know something you're not perfect at." Scott says with a smirk, while adding some spices to his dish.
"Thanks as if I needed more reasons do doubt my worth as a human being." Spencer says.
"Just be still and taste this." Scott says, offering her a clean fork.
"Fine, but only cause you drove away Melissa. I went to Wren too by the way." Spencer tells him, scooping up some noodles.
"Fine you win. You're a better cook than me." Spencer says annoyed while eating some more of the pasta.
"No. I'm only good with seasoning. I couldn't fry a steak if my life depended on it." Scott lies, actually being a decent cook from often cooking for his mother.
"And I know you went there." Scott adds.
"Why'd you lie then?" Spencer asks.
"To make life easier for you and I didn't lie. I just didn't say that he left my message on your answering machine." Scott says, taking the plate and moves over to the phone, playing the recordings and deleting them.
"Now there's only one message and I went there first." Scott says before eating some more noodles.
"Ap history?" Scott asks, seeing Spencer glare at her laptop and her flash drive.
"Yup. I've got it covered though. Thank you, nightmare Melissa." Spencer says, aiming the stick at her usb slot.
"Nope." Scott says, stealing her flash drive.
"Wha... Hey, I need that." Spencer complains.
"No, you need to come with me before Hasting two and three come down here." Scott says, moving to the door while grabbing her laptop as well.
"I hate you." Spencer groans, following him after trying to free her laptop but Scott holds onto it effortlessly.
"That hurt you know." Scott says half joking.
"What did?" Spencer asks.
"Saying you hate me." Scott says.
"Come on I was joking." Spencer laughs.
"I thought Hastings don't joke?" Scott replies, quoting something she used to say.
"Fine. I'm sorry." Spencer says quietly.
"There we go." Scott chuckles, hugging her sideways.
"Uh, where are we going anyways?" Spencer asks.
"My house." Scott answers.
"Why?" Spencer asks wearily.
"To make sure you write your report without cheating and because I owe you a full body massage." Scott says teasingly.
"I knew it. All this time you were just a perv." Spencer says dramatically.
"Haha, come on, I'll let you even leave on all your clothes. Heck if you need to you can put on my entire wardrobe on top of that. Just let me help you." Scott tells her.
"Fine. I guess you are a decent masseuse." Spencer accepts.
"Decent huh? Better than dr. English guy?" Scott asks.
"Yes. Wait how do you know about that?" She asks.
"I was looking for you in the garden remember. Do you think I'd really start looking in your sisters new place instead of the main house?" Scott says.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Spencer asks.
"Jealousy and I want you to trust me." Scott says shrugging his shoulder.
"Jealousy?" Spencer asks doubtful, being completely oblivious to Scott's feelings for her.
"Yeah, like you never asked me to help you with your shoulder problem." Scott says.
"I guess I was thinking it'd only be a matter of time before I got replaced." Scott tells her.
"No one is as weird as you. Thereby you can't be replaced." Spencer says teasingly.
"If I were just a bit more stupid, I'd say thanks." Scott chuckles, before throwing her over his shoulder and running the rest of the way to his house. Arriving there maybe two minutes later.
"Come on in. My mom is still at work." Scott says opening his front door and holding it open for her.
"So were you serious about the massage and the paper?" Spencer asks.
"Yep. Come on up." Scott says, going to his room with Spencer following him.
"This looks almost the same as the last time I was here." She says looking around the room and sits down on his bed.
"Not much has changed for me." Scott says.
"Your asthma would disagree." Spencer remarks.
"True, but I still play field hockey." Scott says.
"Now, how do you want to do this?" Scott asks, stretching his hands.
"You don't have to really." Spencer says.
"Come on I want to." Scott tells her, cracking his shoulders.
"Are you getting ready for a fight or for a massage?" Spencer asks him confused while slipping off her boots.
"With your tighter than a bears Hastings muscles who knows." Scott jokes, making her laugh as well.
"That's it?" Scott asks, while she's lying down.
"Yeah, that's if perv." Spencer says, lying down with her face over his mattress's edge.
"Are you comfortable?" Scott asks.
"Comfortable enough I suppose." Spencer says.
"That'll have to be enough." Scott says and sits down next to her, starting his massage at her neck.
"So Russian history. Did we win the war?" Scott asks and continues to massage her for maybe 10 minutes, getting her to unknowingly spill everything she needs to know to write her paper.
"Now let's take a recess and you start writing your paper. I'll get us something to drink." Scott says, putting the laptop down on his table.
"But I can't I have a serious writers block." Spencer complains.
"You're not writing a novel, now think what I would write and put the correct info in it." Scott says, going downstairs to get them a soda.
"How's it coming al..." Scott starts to ask.
"Shh." Spencer shushes him.
"I thought so." Scott says with a smile, watching Spencer write her report focused like no one else he knows.
After half an hour or so Spencer is finished writing the report while Scott was reading a book, lying on his bed with Spencer having taken over his desk.
"Thanks." Spencer says quietly when she sends her own paper to the teacher.
"For what? You knew the subject." Scott says, grinning slightly.
"Yeah, but you helped me focus." Spencer says.
"No problem." He tells her, jumping off the bed and goes over to her, lifting the surprised girl out of his chair and tosses her to the bed.
"Now I can finish that massage." He says, rolling her back on her front with her chuckling and starts to knead her calves first.
"Hmm." Spencer hums appreciatively and takes off her top, having a training bra on underneath.
"Always ready to throw down huh?" Scott chuckles.
"They're comfortable, not that you'd know." Spencer remarks.
"For once I'm glad to be the dumber one of us." Scott laughs and takes off her socks, putting them next to her shoes before massaging her feet.
"I don't get why you're doing all this, but I'm grateful." Spencer says just enjoying the massage for the next 15- 20 minutes.
Half an hour after he's done with the massage during which Spencer did some more extra curriculum work Melissa McCall arrives at and Spencer heads home before Scott can even offer to bring her.
Meanwhile at the party Emily tells Aria and Hanna what happened at school and that Toby of all people helped rescue her. Hanna then spends the rest of the night trying to convince her boyfriend to finally sleep with her, but he isn't interested. Once he ignores her after her failed seduction attempt, she steals his car keys and drives away a bit in his car, before crashing it against a tree while tears are covering her face.
Emily also gets a scare at the party when someone takes the photos from the photobooth which show her kissing Maya.
The next day the four girls meet in the woods they used to go to with Alison, intending a make a place to remember the blonde by, but they decide it'd be better to make it somewhere public so the one who killed Alison has to look at it all the time. When they are about to leave though they hear rustling and go check it out, finding Alison's bracelet left behind obviously for them to find.
