It was a rainy night as Luffy was on his normal evening drive, he took drives like these whenever he felt bored at home. One could say Luffy's life would be a complex one but for him, a 22 year old, who make a living helping move furniture from place to place, who has two brothers, a strict grampa who will give him and said brothers a beating here and there (Calling it training) And a group of good friends he love hanging out with whenever he can, it was a rather simple life in his mind. Thats mainly has been Luffy's view point in life. If its simple why complex it with worrying or questioning. Maybe that why he been single for most of his adult life, though its not to say women hasn't tried to grab his attention, it was just none of them caught his interest at all honestly. He has made tons of friends though and he was always graceful for that. Most people has question whether he liked women at all but he has express that he did like women, just he haven't found one that he REALLY liked. He had female friends but for the most part they never interest him outside of being a friend to him, while other might ask questions over it, Luffy himself didn't dwell over on such a small matter. He was happy that his friends did find that someone they can call a boyfriend or girlfriend though. He wasn't jealous of the sort, though that didn't mean his friends didn't try to get him a girl every now and again. He didn't mind the single life he had currently, so there was no real need to rush such a simple matter.
As he was driving he notice that someone was walking out in this down pour, he wouldn't had been bother by it if not for the fact that the said person was in some kinda dress, that looked ripped from bellow, so it was a woman he figured. She didn't had anything to shield her from the rain and given her arms being wrapped around her she must be freezing. Anybody else would had kept driving and not get involve but for Luffy, he wasn't one to turn a blind eye to someone he assume would need help. Hes simple like that. So he pulled by the sidewalk and slow down the car to match the woman's pace, this seem to caught the woman attention as she looked over at the car. "Hey, i can give you a drive home if you want, its raining pretty bad out there." The woman stared at him with a narrow look, she still hasn't stopped since he pulled by. "Sorry, i rather not get into a strangers car, i'll walk thank you." Luffy heard some bitterness in her voice, but that didn't stopped him from trying still. "But you might get sick or something, besides, you look tired. It be warmer and faster if i drive you home." Luffy looked ahead to make sure he didn't hit a car or past a light as he kept trying to convince the said woman to hop in. She stopped in her tracks which made Luffy stopped and stared at him with a glare. "Listen, why the hell would you pull over to pick up some random person in the streets for huh ? And for that matter why the hell should i trust you to get into a fucking strangers car!?" She shouted out, she was trembling, whether that was from the anger or the cold he didn't know. The outburst didn't faze him any as he stare at her trembling form. The woman gave a huff before walking again, she thought that by yelling at the said boy would get him to drive off and leave her alone but instead he did something else entirely. Luffy parked his car and got out. He walked around to where she was and place his hands in his pockets and gave her a toothy smile. "Okay, guess i'm walking you home then miss." Her eyes widen as she stared at the young man. Here he was in the rain with her with a smile planted on his face offering to walk her home. Just what the hell is the guy game here. "What are you plotting here, why are you so intent on taking me home?!" Luffy simply tilted his head, not bother at all by the pouring rain. "Cause i wanna help you, thats really all there is to, so ether i drive you there or i'll walk you there. If you are safe then that'll be enough for me!" He explain nodding his head as if he solved the biggest mystery ever. The woman just kept staring at him, not sure what to really make of him, but he seems dead serious that he just want to take her home. She then sighed in a tired voice and shook her head" I must be crazy..fine, i'll take you up on your offer. But if you try anything.."Before she could get the words out he took out his cell phone and hands it to her. She stared at it then back at him. "So you have someone to call if that is the case." He said in a nonchalant tone. She just couldn't help but stare at this raven hair boy in front of her, thinking only one thing. Who the hell is this guy ?
Its been 9 minutes since Luffy starting driving, the woman didn't say much and Luffy figured maybe she was just in thought and to not bother her. She did in fact told him where to drive her. Her home however was an hour away by foot, how she expected to get there in heels in the pouring rain was beyond Luffy. Speaking of which, he couldn't help but notice that after getting a better look of her, not only the bottom of her dressed was ripped up somewhat but she was missing one of her shoes. Something must had happen he figured, but what exactly. From what he known of women, they don't normally go out in the weekend like that. Grated his friend Yamamoto did went home with no shoes once, only cause she got into a fight which involved her using her shoes to attack with. So Luffy not leaving will enough alone, decided to ask her. "Did you get into a fight or something ?" She turn her head at the question before shaking it slowly "Not exactly.." He raised a brow at the answer. "Not exactly ? You seem unsure bout it" She turned to him meeting him with that same glare as before. "Listen, i don't wanna talk about it, so do what you said and just drive me the hell home okay ?" She snapped at him. Luffy turn his eyes to her for a moment before he looked back at the road and just kept his mouth shut. She too turn her eyes on the road ahead keeping her arms wrapped around herself. Luffy reached to turn on the heater to the car as he kept driving. She turn a glance at him before sighing some. Here she was snapping at the guy and hes still trying to help her. Now she feel like shit for yelling at him. "Listen, i'm sorry, i didn't mean to snap at you..i just had a really awful night and honestly i am not in a very trusting mood..but you been rather nice to me, i shouldn't be yelling at you when you already did more then enough for me. I'm really am sorry."
She spoke the truth, she didn't want the young man to assume shes like this all the time. Luffy smiled but kept his eyes on the road "Don't sweat it, i'm use to getting yelled at so no worries" She saw his smile and couldn't help but smile in return and sigh softly before laying back against her seat. "My name is Nami by the way." He turn to her and gave a toothy smile and offer a hand" Name Luffy, nice to meet ya Nami!" Nami, instead of shacking his hand chopped him softly on the head with a stern look "Oi, keep your eyes on the road will ya ? " Luffy quickly turn his head back and quickly said sorry as he drove. She couldn't help but giggle at his childish behavior before looking back at the road.
They remain quiet a while longer before Nami began to spoke. "It was my now recent ex that i am in such a pissy mood" Luffy didn't miss the bitterness in her voice, he kept his eyes on the road and ears open. "He invited me over to his place tonight for dinner, truth be told it was the first time i ever been to his home. We been dating for roughly 7 months. Wasn't aware how far he lived but it didn't bother me all that much. We ate and drink some wine. It wasn't till i drank that wine that i felt something was off. See i can hold my liquor rather well, so when i took a sip from just one glass and was already feeling a bit tipsy, thats when i knew he did something to my drink." Luffy looked at her from the corner of his eye as she spoke. whoever this guy was seemed to had this planed out before she even got to his place though this, he was hoping it didn't lead to anything bad. "One thing led to another and he was trying to force himself on me, luckily for me i wasn't too far gone to not struggle with the bastard. So i reached for the nearest thing and knocked him over the head with it, it just so happen to be a lamp, heh as we speak he might still be out cold. I then ran my ass out of there. 20 minutes later i ran into you." Luffy was rather glad she was okay and the worst didn't happen although it did brought up two questions that been nagging him. "Didn't you had your phone with you ? You look like someone that would carry one." Nami shook her head as she stared at the rain. "Its not like i don't own one, just the phone i use was in repairs. Just so happen tonight was the worst night not to have one is all." Luffy nodded his head at the answer, least that made sense. "Was he always like that ?" Luffy wasn't sure why but there was something bout this story that wasn't making much sense, if they dated for 7 months, it be hard to understand why the boyfriend would go out of his way to drug her and force himself on her.
Nami closed her eyes and didn't say anything for a bit before she spoke again. "We never had issues exactly but it was clear he wanted sex and it was just something i wasn't willing to give him. I wanted time, heck tonight MAY had been the night i would had but after that shit he pulled, clearly i made the right choice not going any further then i did with him." It was then that Luffy bluntness decided to shine. "Ah, so you are a virgin, that explains it then" He spoke carefree as he turn the corner. Nami eyes shot open as she stared at him in shock. "Wh..what do you mean ? How do you know if i am a virgin or not!?" Nami wasn't sure if she should be angry or just shocked at how he just out right said that. Luffy shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, you don't come off as someone who just lay with anyone." Luffy stopped at a stop light and looked at her with a grin on his face. "I'm the same way, so i can relate to you Shishishi" Nami just stared at him in awe. She then shook her head and leans back against the seat. "And here i thought you picking up girls to take them home was your way to a girls pants." She tease mildly, which Luffy picked up and chuckles He then looked at her wile grinning. "If i did you might had found a lamp to hit me with" They both laugh some at the joke. A little while past before she spoke up. "So, was you coming back from somewhere ?" She asked somewhat wanting to know the raven hair man a bit more. "Nahh, was just bored and thought i go driving. I would had walked out but my brothers would had got upset if i came up and wet up the floors Shishishi" Luffy laughs as he makes another turn. Nami in turn giggled at his reply before staring at the window. "I live with my sister too, shes currently out of town so it just been me at home. Though i am sure she be pretty pissed bout what happen." Luffy nods in agreement, had it been him or his brothers that found out something like that, well lets just say the guy wouldn't be walking for a loooong time. "Its odd, you think you find someone that you like, might even love and then you find out that the person you thought would be your match just turns out to be some asshole who have something else on the brain other then the person they are with." Nami spoke, while staring at the pouring rain in a daze. Luffy didn't miss the bitterness in her tone. "Well, doesn't mean you should give up." He replied as she told her gaze at him with a confused look. "Sure you found out that guy was a jerk and creep. But that don't mean you won't find someone out there one of these days. If you worry about what was, you'll never be able to find whats out there now you know. So i think you 'll be just fine Nami." He glaze over at her with a smile before turning back to the road. Nami stared at him in surprise hearing that response. She stared down at the phone he gave her and had a small smile on her face having the same thought as before but in a much happy tune about it. "Just who is this guy?"
They finally pulled to her apartment building, it was still pouring out but wasn't as bad as earlier. "Welp here we are, wasn't sure how you was gonna walk here by yourself though." Nami chuckled some and shook her head. She wasn't sure herself how she would had but with how her mind was at the time, non of that matter any. "Thank you for driving me here, you really didn't have to." She place his cell on the dashboard and looked at him, still he kept a smile on his face. "Nahh its nothing, just happy to help out thats all." As he spoke, theres was something that she just had to know about him. "Why did you pick me up really ?" He tilted his head at her question. "Didn't i already told you though ? "
She shook her head "Yea you told me but is that really why ? Like for all you know i could had been a killer or just some whore out on the streets. And here you are, not only driving me home but even gave me your cell phone if the off chance you did do something. I mean really, who is that trusting ?" Yes thats was alot to unload on the guy but she just couldn't help but question how simpleminded he was. Luffy in turn folded his arms and lead his head up with his eyes closed. as if thinking carefully on the question. "When i saw you, i simply wanted to give you a lift home, but when i look at your eyes, i could tell you weren't just mad but sad too. I don't like seeing people sad and not being able to help them. I get you not trusting me, so i wanted to do what i can to help you trust me that i wouldn't hurt you. You looked like you were a nice person, so i had no worries that you would do anything towards me" He open his eyes and looked at her with a somewhat confused look "Besides, i like you, so i have no regrets helping you." Nami couldn't help but stare at him in awe, before slowly smiling and then laughing softly. Luffy tilted his head with a smile on his face as well, not exactly sure what was so funny. "You really are an idiot you know that ?" Luffy pouted at that before he felt her hand ruffling his hair. "But maybe thats what i needed to feel better, a really caring dummy. Really. Thank You Luffy." She meant it, for some reason she felt this dummy made her feel alot more safe tonight then she ever been. Luffy grin rubbing his nose. "Shishishi no problem, anytime." Nami unlocks the car door and before she could step out. "Hold on!" She stopped short as Luffy reached behind the back seat of the car and handed her his umbrella with a smile. "Here, don't need you to get wet again." She stared at the umbrella for a moment then look back at her. "You had this and you was gonna walk in the rain with me ?" Luffy in turn made a face before using his finger to scratch his head. Kinda forgot i had this to be honest, i don't really need it anyway so you can have it." A part of her wanted to refuse it but she smiled back and took it from him and nodded a thank you before exiting out of the car. She walked up to her building and got inside the lobby door before looking at the door window at Luffy, he wave at her before driving off. She couldn't help but felt her face flush a bit before giggling to herself. "That dummy.."
Luffy was laying on his bed getting ready for bed, he finished replying to a text from his friend till he notice there was a draft message he don't recall seeing before, he opens it and read the message in it.
I wanted to say thanks for driving me home and that you really are a kind person, i hope though that after i get myself together over what happen that maybe you and me can take another drive again, on better circumstances. Hope to see you again. Nami.
Luffy re read it once more before smiling some and closes his eyes. "Hope to see you too Nami" He thought to himself. He was looking forward to seeing her once again. Seems a simple drive and a simple offer to drive someone home, might have lead to something more for both of them.
Hmmm not sure how i feel bout this one honestly w Happy Weekend to you guys by the way ^^
