Chapter 22

Return to the Potter's

Aubrey enjoyed her week Holiday with her father, Lucius and Draco. It brought her closer to Draco and more than once they found themselves sneaking away from their father's to touch one another. They had nearly been caught a few times but managed to keep their promise to Severus…for now.

Aubrey and Severus left Lucius and Draco at the Manor and returned back to Hogwarts. As soon as Aubrey had unpacked she rushed over to Grimmauld Place to see her Uncle and Auntie.

'Hello.' Aubrey shouted as she stepped out of the floo into the living room.

'Aubrey!' Lilly Potter shouted as she rushed towards the older girl.

'Hey!' Aubrey said picking up Lilly. 'Where are your mum and Dad?'

'They're at the Hospital.' Ron advised.

'Why?' Aubrey said panic starting to set in. 'What's wrong?'

'Don't worry.' Ron said coming over to Aubrey putting his arm around Aubrey. 'I'll tell you away from little ears. Are you staying for dinner?'

'If you don't mind.' Aubrey replied.

'Of course I don't! I've got us Pizza! I'm not cooking.' Ron said laughing as he walked into the kitchen.

Aubrey floo called Severus to let him to know she was staying at the Potter's for dinner with her Uncle Ron and the Potter children and would be home later.

After enjoying Pizza and helping Ron put the children to sleep, Ron and Aubrey sat in the living room together.

'What's happened?' Aubrey asked as she looked towards her red headed Godfather.

'Ginny's had a miscarriage.' Ron said quietly. 'She's okay…well she's not but Harry's with her and they'll be okay.'

'Oh.' Aubrey replied not knowing what else to say. 'Will they be back tonight?'

'They should be.' Ron said as he smiled at Aubrey. 'Your Dad will be wondering where you are.'

'I told him I'd be back later. I missed everyone.' She said looking up at Ron.

'We missed you too kid.' He said wrapping his arm around Aubrey and pulling her to him.

As he did so Aubrey burst out crying.

'Hey! What's wrong?' Ron said shocked Aubrey's outburst.

'I've missed you all too.' She said sniffling. 'I miss mum too.'

'Don't we all kid.' He whispered. 'I know she's watching over you all the time, well all of us.'

Aubrey smiled at Ron.

'I swear I hear her voice sometimes when I'm at work. Telling me to work harder and why haven't I done this or that.' He said smiling.

'Do you….' She stopped.

'Do I what?' He asked as he looked at her dark eyes.

'Do you think she'd be angry that I'm…that I'm seeing Draco.' She asked.

'Do you know what?' He said. 'I think she'd be fine with it.' He said as he looked at her. 'She would want you to be happy and from what I'm told he makes you happy. Doesn't he? Or do I need to kick his ass?'

'He does Uncle Ron.' She replied smiling brightly. 'I would prefer you didn't kick his ass.'

'If he ever hurts you, that ferret….Draco has it coming.' Ron said laughing.

'Do you think Granny would allow him to come to the summer BBQ?' Aubrey asked.

'I'm sure she would be fine with that. Will your Dad come?' He asked.

'Dad?' Aubrey asked.

'Well he's family now.' Ron replied.

'I suppose I could ask him.' He said. 'Would you find that weird?'

'A little.' He replied. 'I've not see Sna…your Dad since school.' Ron replied. 'He hated me.'

'That's just an act you know.' Aubrey replied.

Before Ron could reply, Harry and Ginny arrived in the Floo in front of them.

'Aubrey!' Harry said seeing her sat on the sofa next to Ron. 'Your home.'

'We got home this afternoon, I thought I'd come round and say hi.' She said sitting forward on the sofa. 'Are you okay Auntie Gin?'

'I'm fine.' Ginny said unconvincingly.

'Let me get Gin upstairs and in bed resting and we can catch up.' Harry said to his God-daughter.

'Would you mind if I stayed tonight?' Aubrey asked her Godparents.

'Of course you can.' Ginny replied opening her arms to Aubrey.

Aubrey stood up off the sofa and made her way to Ginny. She was pulled into her Aunt and felt a kiss pressed to her head.

'I love you Auntie Gin.' She said.

'And I love you.' Ginny replied.

Harry took Ginny upstairs to rest whilst Aubrey contacted her father through the floo to advise she was staying at the Potter's.

Harry joined Ron and Aubrey in the living room soon after and asked Aubrey all about her holiday with the Malfoy's and Severus.

Aubrey fell asleep between her two Godfathers at midnight. Ron carried Aubrey up to her room and laid her down on the double bed. He pressed a kiss to her head and left the bedroom to find Harry stood in the hallway.

'You alright mate?' Ron asked his oldest friend.

'Been a hard day.' Harry replied. 'It's nice to have Aubrey here though.'

'It's like having a bit of Hermione with us.' Ron said sadly.

Harry nodded and felt tears building up in his eyes.

'It's alright mate.' Ron said hugging Harry. 'Try and get some sleep. Let me know if you want me to get the kids in the morning.'

'Thanks Ron.' Harry said as he patted Ron's back.
