My Parent's Mistake
Chapter 24
After Draco fled her Father's office, Aubrey spent the rest of the evening in her room reading some more of her mother's diary. She had skipped many pages and had settled on 4th January 1999 – three days after her birth.
4th January 1999
Harry and Ron can hardly look at me. They're still trying to process the news that Aubrey is Severus' daughter. Ginny and Molly have taken the news better than I thought which makes me think they knew I was seeing Severus. Maybe we weren't as secret as I thought.
I know they weren't expecting the news and I didn't exactly plan to tell them that way but I can't and I wouldn't change who Aubrey's Father is/was.
Aubrey Serena is 3 days old. 74 hours to be exact. She's perfect.
I lay down in my bed holding her in my arms smelling her little head. She has perfect hair. I hope she gets Severus' sleek hair rather than my messy hair although from the slight curl at the back of her head I think she may have mine. Poor baby.
I wonder what she'll be when she's older? A doctor? A scientist? A potions mistress? A teacher? I wouldn't mind what she did as long as she was happy.
I want my baby girl to have the world and as long as I am alive I will ensure she does.
Aubrey closed the diary and laid back on her bed letting her head hit her plump pillows.
She wondered how her Uncles had discovered who her father was. She wondered if Hermione had written that in the diary or whether she'd have to ask her Uncles.
'Aubrey.' Severus said from outside his daughter's bedroom door.
'Come in.' She shouted not getting up from her bed.
Her bedroom door opened and a different voice greeted her.
'Hi.' Draco said standing in the doorway of his room looking at his young girlfriend.
Aubrey sat up crossing her legs as she looked at her blonde haired boyfriend. 'Hi.' She said with a slight smile upon her lips. 'Wondered how long it would be till you came back.'
'I'm sorry.' He replied as he walked into her room closing the door behind him. 'I was being...'
'Immature? Stupid? An idiot? Like a child?' Aubrey said smirking.
'You look like Severus when you do that.' Draco said matching her smirk upon his face.
'Oh great.' She said rolling her eyes.
Draco laughed. 'I didn't mean you look like a bloke, just that you can see the resemblance.'
Aubrey nodded and patted the space next to her on the bed. Draco moved across the room and sat beside her.
'You know this you to be my room.' Draco said as he looked into Aubrey's dark eyes. 'I use to stay in here on weekends and sometimes in the holidays.'
'Didn't you go home to the Manor?' Aubrey asked.
'Sometime but sometimes Mother and Father would be travelling and I preferred to stay here with Severus.' Draco replied.
'I can't imagine not staying here with Dad when I start school. I think I'll struggle staying in the dorms with other girls.' She said quietly. 'I didn't mind it when I went to school before but mum was fine.'
'Once you're sorted I'm sure Severus could sort you a private room.' Draco advised her. 'Are you going to be sorted like a first year on the first day?'
Aubrey shook her head. 'No.' she said. 'Actually I'm going to be sorted on Sunday. Dad's arranged it.'
'Do you want me to come?' He asked.
'Depends if you're going to dump me when they announce Gryffindor?' She said smiling.
'You're going to be a Slytherin.' He said confidently.
'You don't know that. I could be either.' She replied.
'I don't care what you are. I love you the way you are.' He replied.
'Love?' Aubrey asked as her eyes widened.
'I love you.' He said as he placed his hand on her cheek and pulled her to him to kiss her.
'I love you too.' Aubrey said as they pulled apart.
Before either of them could say another word the door flew open with Severus stood in the doorway. He looked between the two of them and muttered 'door open' before he stalked off leaving the pair to laugh.
Thank you.
