Chapter 7: Flashbacks
Juniper looked hesitantly forward. Her forehead slightly dripping with sweat. This was the moment she told them. Would she tell them? Alya, Marinette, and Nino… Don't forget Felix. But, there was something missing- of course. Adrien. Adrien was still trying to cope with Juniper's mother's antics. She had gone around Paris telling people her daughter is dating the Adrien Agreste. So, Juniper searched her mind for anything that could've sparked a love between them when Adrien met Juniper.
…
Juniper got on her pair of snow boots, it was cold outside. A thick jacket would suffice.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Juniper? It's not to late to stay at my school," her mother asked. When you looked at the two side by side, you wouldn't ever think they were related. Juniper's brown hair greatly contrasted her mother's red. Juniper's green eyes constantly held happiness whereas Mrs. Allen's eyes were a pale brown, worn down by years of sadness. Juniper had slightly tanned skin, while her mother's skin was a sickly pale from staying indoors so much.
"Mother, I already told you, this is my decision. You don't see it, but the girl's at your school hate me. They call me a teacher's pet. I don't want that," Juniper said. She grabbed her bag and ran out the door. A new day, a new chance. She wasn't going to be June-pet. She could just be June.
She briskly walked to the school in the shortest route she found possible. When she got to the school, Principle Damocles was waiting for her. "Ah, you must be Juniper Allen, what a pleasure it is to have you at this school. Your mother told us you would be arriving early."
Juniper smiled at the principle. "Of course, it's better early then late! Plus, my mother would prefer if I left the house before she left."
"Come with me, Juniper, I will show you to your class room," Mr. Damocles said.
"Thank you, Mr. Damocles," Juniper said, following Mr. Damocles. Juniper sighed as she entered the classroom. It smelled like flowers, crisp and clean.
About an hour after, a couple boys came into the classroom. They were tall, and quite handsome, if Juniper would say so herself.
"Oh, hello, you're new here I'm guessing, I've never seen you here before," one boy said. He had brilliant green eyes that matched her own, blonde hair, and a bright smile. Juniper recognized him immediately: Adrien Agreste. Although, he told her that before she could say anything about it. "I'm Adrien, and my friend here is Nino."
"Nice to meet you, dudette," Nino said.
"Nice to meet you two!" Juniper said. "I'm Juniper, but I- I'd like to go by June."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, June," Adrien said, shaking June's hand. June felt her heart skip a beat. A nickname. She actually had a nickname that was nice. Not June-pet, not Little June, not Teaheriper, just June.
…
"Excuse me, June, but how did this happen? A couple weeks ago you said you were seeing Chat Noir! Did you guys lie to us?" Alya said, looking extremely surprised.
"N- No! Well, I- I was in a dazed state and- and- Alya! Why do you have to do this to me?" Juniper said.
"It's just so confusing, really, how did you go from Chat to Adrien?" Alya mumbled.
"It really is, June, will you tell us how this all started?" Marinette said.
"Guys, June is having a hard time processing what this means for us to be, well, a thing. Her mother has been very- involved with our relationship. She can hardly process that we even got ourselves into this mess," Adrien said. Juniper was still thinking. Surely, surely there must be something. But what?
…
That's when another girl walked in. She kissed Nino on the cheek and sighed. "Marinette is going to be late again. What are we going to do with that girl?"
"Have you called her?" Adrien asked.
"It went straight to voice mail. Marinette is going to be the death…" Alya began.
"OH MY GOSH! I'M HERE!" another girl came rushing in, tripping over her own feet, and Juniper caught her.
"Are you okay?" Juniper asked her.
"I'm fine, thanks. Who are you?" the girl said. She had midnight blue hair and pigtails in.
"I'm Juniper, but you can call me June," Juniper answered. The whole class was filled, the only person missing was the teacher.
"Well, nice to meet you, June," the girl said, dusting herself off. "I'm Marinette."
"And I'm Alya," the other girl said. To be honest, Juniper wasn't as brave around girls as she looked, but these two seemed nice enough. "I run the Ladyblog."
Juniper looked at her with wide eyes. "You do? That's so cool, Chat Noir is the best, in my opinion!"
"Well, I think we can have that debate later," Alya said.
"Hello, class," the teacher said, entering the class. Juniper was introduced, and the whole class seemed excited to have a new student.
It took a while, but Juniper was slowly warming up to the girls in the class, specifically Marinette and Alya. The guys in the class were easy to warm up to, they weren't the people who tormented her. Marinette and Alya acted like they cared. That was all Juniper ever wanted.
…
"Just because she is have a hard time herself, doesn't mean that she doesn't tell us what the hell is going on," Alya said.
"Guys, please!" Adrien begged as the rest of the group agreed with Alya. Juniper looked dazed, coming in and out of memories, that seemed so far out of reach.
"Why is that bitch dating my Adrikins anyway?" Chloe said, her ponytail shaking. She was angry. Really angry. But so was everyone else.
"I'm not yours, Chloe!" Adrien said. "And Juniper is not a bitch!"
"This is just so out of the blue, Adrien," Lila said. Everyone, including Marinette agreed. "We all know that June is not a bitch, Chloe is just jealous. But why all of the sudden?"
"It just came- it was unexpected. One thing turned into another," Juniper said, quietly, catching everyone off guard. "I knew I loved him the moment he said my name. The moment that I first got called June. No one had ever said my name without treating it like a virus. And then, I started seeing him. Not dating at first, just as friends. And we both realized we wanted to be more than just friends." Adrien smiled at his girlfriend. "We- we both just liked each other. Love at first sight isn't real, it's just attraction. Love comes from showing who you are. That was very clear we were in love with each other. Don't ask for more of an explanation because that is the best I can give."
"Dang, why didn't you just say that in the first place?" Nino said.
"Oh, June! That was the sweetest thing I've ever heard come out of your mouth!" Alya said, hugging the girl. Juniper let out a small smile and hugged the girl back.
"No too shabby," Adrien said. He hugged June after Alya finished, and the whole group, except for Chloe, started shouting for them to kiss. Juniper's lips touched Adrien's and they kissed. Finally, they had found something more then just a slow relationship.
