Always and Forever
Ch. 04 Love Helm
They entered the small fairy's house, it was a small beige house with pink accents all over it, filled with all kinds of plants and flowers around it. Diane's eyes were lit up, looking at how pretty the house looked.
"Your house looks like a dollhouse, its so lovely"
The fairy faintly smiled and said "Thank you, who are you by the way? why are you with King Harlequin?"
Both Diane and King saw each other and blushed, "This is Diane, you see me and her are..."
Abelia giggled "Oh... I see, who would have thought? but then again a long time ago when King Gloxinia and King Drole united the races for a brief moment in time, I guess history does repeat itself from time to time" she continued "Lady Gerheade told me countless stories of them... You two reminded me of them, I expect great things from you both"
"Wait, how do you know I was a giantess?" Diane asked
"Your smell" Abelia replied, Diane blushed in embarrassment "Do I smell bad?" Abelia laughed "Not at all, you see female giants have a petrichor smell to them, while the males have wood like musk scent" she continued "Now that the introductions are out of the way, King Harlequin there is something I've been meaning to ask..."
King responded "Helbram... right?"
"Yes... Where is my darling? That day... When those humans fooled us... He knocked me out and hid me, after I came to I saw you leaving and saw the bodies of many dead fairies, there was blood... So much blood..." Tears started forming on her eyes "Please your majesty you have to tell me what happened to my beloved Helbram, where is he? Is he back in the forest, are you headed there after the festival is over? please take me with-"
"Abelia..." King interrupted "Helbram is...He is...He is dead..."'
Abelia froze but she didn't seemed surprised her face there was visible sadness "That idiot... I told him to listen to you, not to trust those humans but I went with him anyways, I should have stopped him, I should have convinced him that trusting those humans was a bad idea, I read the heart of that man and he had horrible intentions, but no one believed me... But I... I just went with it"
"Don't blame yourself, Abelia..." King said in a forlorn tone, he snapped his fingers and a letter appeared "He gave me this and told me to give to you if I ever found you, I am glad I did so here..."
"From Helbram?" she asked, King nodded. As she opened the letter there was a faint smell of white rose coming from the letter "smells just like him..." as a single tear started to stream down her cheek, the letter said the following...
" To my beloved Abelia
I want to apologize for everything, for letting myself and the others be tricked. For putting you, my most precious treasure along with my other friends in danger. I guess you and Harlequin were right, humans couldn't be trusted. I was so foolish... So, so, so foolish... Remember how I promised you that after we got back we were tell Harlequin that we were planning to get married? Remember when I proposed to you, on top of our favorite fig tree? Remember how we promised to always be together despite of everything? I am sorry I couldn't keep that promise, my love... But I will never forget those days, those blissful days.. I don't know when or if you will ever receive this letter, but just know that even in death I will always love you. But promise me that you will live your life, you will find a new love that isn't a fool like me and actually keeps you safe from harm.
Go find your happiness.
Yours forever
Helbram"
"You...Idiot..." Abelia said as she was crying "You are an idiot...and I miss you... We were going to get married, we were gonna live a happy life together, every year of the festival I use to write you letters in hopes that you will find me. I use to put our names at the shining rose petals ceremony... Hoping that someday, somehow you will return to me, but now I know...Now I know it was all in vain"
Diane told King "King, do you think we could take her to The Necropolis and find out if he is there so she can see him one last time?"
Abelia heard what Diane said and responded "That won't be neccesary..."
she smiled "Helbram, he has already passed and there's no point in disturbing the dead. Thank you for your concern Diane, and thank you for delivering me the letter, King Harlequin... Thank you both, I guess it really is time to finally move on, this letter is a way of clossure to what once was will never be again."
She stood up "Look at the time, I have to open up the shop, but before that come with me" she took them to the back of the store and handed them a bouquet of white roses, a single white rose and a white petal
"I wont be needing these, these are the best roses I saved for this year's festival, I want you to have them. As a token of gratitude"
Diane smiled "they are lovely! thank you!" King asked "are you sure, Abelia?"
She smiled "Yes I am absolutely sure! Now get going I have to open shop, before you leave tomorrow stop by my shop, ok?"
"We promise!" Diane said gleefully "Thank you once again! Come on king let's go!" she grabbed the fairy king as she started walking.
"Enjoy the festival!" Abelia said as she waved goodbye to both the giantess and the orange haired fairy.
Abelia stood there and said to herself "(Helbram, over the years that I've lived in this small village...I've come to realize that not all humans are bad people... After I saw King Harlequin leave and all the dead fairies, things felt a bit hazy, I started to walk around not knowing where I was going till I ended in the outskirts of this village, I thought for sure I was going to die, but it didn't matter anymore. I passed out, then I woke up in a human bed, a lovely man took care of me. He is as kind as one can be, kept me safe from the other humans that came from other places because they heard the rumors of a fairy being in this village, thus trying to take my wings, some were even trying to sell me to rich/noble men. But as time passed those bad people started to disappear and he made sure I was safe...He I mean Lupin... has kept me safe all this time. Maybe Lupin is... Could possibly be... Never mind... What should I do, my dear Helbram?)"

King and Diane were walking towards the plaza where the festival was held.
"She is such a strong person, isn't she, King?" Diane said as they continued to walk towards the plaza
"Yeah she really is... I really hope she is able to move on with her life, now that she knows what really happened to Helbram..." He paused and tried to shake off the sad mood
"Enough of this we are suposed to be celebrating and enjoying our time here"
Diane with a soft smile "Yeah, you're right... are you sure you're okay though?"
"I am fine as long as you are here with me, Diane" He gave her a peck on the cheeks "You're the light that illuminates my heart"
"Oh stop it..." she paused and giggled "No keep going..."
He continued to kiss her as he kept going it the kisses started to become more passionate he then whispered "I love you, Diane"
"I love you too, Harlequin" She continued to kiss him, she then suddenly stopped "Hey! we still need to write the letter, there's an empty table over there, come on!" she grabbed her beloved and took him to the empty table.
"I'll go first, then I will hand you the paper, no peeking okay!"
As she started writing, King was caught in his thoughts "(I feel like the luckiest guy, having someone as amazing as her being in love with me, I never thought this day would come, I always thought my feelings would stay unrequited. I was always jealous of the captain, but it was my own fault for erasing her memories in the first place... I still feel so guilty for that, I...)"
"Hello earth to King? I am done with my part, it's your turn now!" she handed the paper to the distracted fairy
"Sorry Diane, I was just caught in my own thoughts, lets get started" The fairy started to write and he thought to himself "(what should I write? there's so many great things about her, she is an amazing woman. This mere paper would not be enough to write how much I love her and how much she means to me, ah... I was never a good writer, I should have asked Escanor for some writing classes when I had the chance...AHHH! what the heck am I doing? I need to finish this!)"
The flustered fairy started to pick up the pace with his writting, Diane just smiled and thought to herself
"(he is probably overthinking, as always... My sweet King, what can I do to make you feel more comfortable with me? you really don't need to hide your true feelings anymore...)" Her thoughts were then interrupted by his voice
"Hey Diane, I am done" the fairy said cheerfully.
"Oh...Hey! thats great" she was gonna look at the paper but King then teased
"Oy! no picking, remember?!" he winked at the giantess
She looked at him and huffed "Fine... let's tie the letter to the rose and put it on the statue's feet" she said as she get up and headed towards the statue.

The paper had the following letters
Diane's letter
"Harlequin,
I am so happy we are together! remember all those times when we were about to tell each other how we felt? But then something would get in the way. Sometimes I was a bit frustrated with you, because I wanted you to tell me how you felt. I felt the same way too, I just wanted to scream how much I love you and how much you mean to me. I am looking forward to be your wife someday, I really am... I want to kiss you and do other more intimate things with you. As for our future... I just want to be with you as long as I am alive, I want to have a family with you someday and that everyone accepts our love. It's what I want the most, for our love to be accepted by our races.
Love you always
Diane"
King's letter
"My beautiful Diane,
Here I am writing you this letter, I wanted to write so many things but this paper limits me, so I will keep it short and sweet. You are my light, you iluminate my heart, with your smile, those gorgeous violet eyes, they are like a field of flowers I could get lost in. You have my heart, I will rather die than live without you. I love you and sometimes it overwhelms, these feelings overwhelm me... I hope we get married, soon. I want to propose to you the right way, maybe tonight at the festival I might do so, I love you Diane my sweet sweet Diane. I hope I am able to finally fully express myself without feeling shame or feeling overwhelmed, just know that you are my world. As for the future, all I want is for us to stay together for a long time, I wanna stay with you until I die.
Forever and always
Harlequin"

Diane tied the paper containing the 2 letters around a single white rose and placed it on the feet of the statue. She smiled
"There we are... Okay let's keep checking the festival there's this cute festival game I saw earlier" She grabbed king by the arm and took him with her.
