Ch. 05 Rose Petal

"Yay! I won I won I won" said Diane as she happily jumped up and down

The vendor smiled "Here's your price, young lass" he handed her a cute fairy doll made out of cloth.

"This looks just like you, King" she teased as she showed him the doll.

"You really think so Diane?" said the blushing red haired fairy.

Diane smiled and hugged the doll "I'll name it Harlequin"

King thought to himself "(why does that doll get more action than me? what the hell am I saying? it's just a doll...Say something,dumbass...Diane is staring..)"

Diane with a confused look on her face asks the pensive fairy king "King, are you okay?"

King finally snapped out of it "Oh yeah never better Diane, sorry I was just caught in my dumb thoughts...(as always)" he then smiled "Come on let's go I saw some very yummy fruit parfaits and I really wanted to try one" Diane's eyes lit up "Oh I want to try them too!"

They then proceeded to parfait stand, King bought two fruit parfaits, one without cream and the other with cream "Let's find a table" King said

Diane then pointed at an empty table next to a fountain "King, there's a table" they then proceeded to sit and eat their parfaits. As they were eating King noticed that Diane had some cream on her lips "Diane..." confused she asked "What is it King?" he then pointed to her face

She smiled in a flirtatious way "Can you help me with that?"

He blushed and grabbed his handkerchief and handed it to her, she got super annoyed and snatched it from him "Ugh you can be so clueless at times, you know that?" she got up "I am gonna go look at some stuff by myself" leaving a confused King by himself.

He thought to himself "(Nice going idiot... You made her mad, you're so hopeless)" he then got up and went after her.

As she was walking, Diane thought to herself "(what if what he feels is just platonic? is he even attracted to me? Why did he even proposed to me in the first place? He is so shy all the time, no matter what I do he always tries to back away, it drives me crazy...Why can't he just tell me how he really feels? what he really wants to do... I love him and I wished he was more confident in himself, when he battles he seems so powerful and confident but... When he is with me all that confidence goes away... What am I saying? I am so selfish, he is really trying his hardest and here I am complaining... Poor King...)"

As she was gonna turn to return to the table where she left King, she saw that he was right behind her... Shocked she asked "Did you read my thoughts?"

Ashamed he replied "Yes and I am the one that should apologize, I should be a better man to you. But the truth is that, I am just afraid to let you down. I want to be the best for you but I end up doing the opposite. You are my everything, Diane. I do want to marry you, I want to give you everything I can, I want to make up for all those years that I left you, for taking away the memories we shared. But believe me even after all those years I never ever stopped loving you, I promise you... Believe me when I say this, I will always love you. I do want to write our names in that petal, I wanted..." He went silent he then continued "Never mind..."

Diane seemed annoyed "See there you go again, you never say what you want to say. I feel the same way for you, you can be yourself with me, you don't need to hide things from me anymore King, you never did..." she started crying "Why can't you trust me? Why can't you rely on me for once? I am not a little girl you need to protect all the time. You can rely on me too King, you can be honest with me... You can tell me anything, I won't judge you. I love you, I wished we could be even closer. I want lay on your chest and..." the teary eyed giantess blushed "I want to... I probably don't even need to tell you, you can just read my thoughts"

As he read her thoughts he started to turn beet red "Diane..."

Annoyed, she stared "So... Are you not gonna say anything? Do you at least want the same thing?"

He grabbed and kissed her, he then whispered to her "I want you as much as you want me, don't you doubt that, but I also don't want to disrespect you. I am not a pervert like the captain and I am definitely not an idiot like Ban(I am probably even more of an idiot than Ban). When that time comes I want it to be special. Believe me Diane I want you so badly, but there's something I want to do before we take it to that level, please be patient with me. I promise it's going to be worth it, I just want the best for you... For us. I am sorry If I am so shy all the time, I am just afraid of saying the wrong thing and losing you. You see I am still the same silly King, that really doesn't know how express himself but I promise I will get better, I want to be better for you, You're my happiness and I don't ever want to hurt you or break your heart again. I love you so much" He continued kissing her. caressing her face and pulling her closer.

The blushing giantess pushed him away "King.. People are staring..."

"Let them stare" he pulled her back and continued kissing her.

She yet again pushed him away "King... wait it's almost midnight.. We have to meet Lupin at the statue"

The annoyed fairy with a half smile said "Ok, let's go..."

She smiled "We will pick up were we left later" then proceeded to give him a peck on the cheek.

He blushed like crazy, trying to compose himself "D..D.. Diane?"

she giigled and grab his arm and started walking back to the statue where they are suposed to meet Lupin.

They finally got to the statue, where Lupin was staring and next to him there was a small strawberry blonde haired fairy

"Hey Abelia!" Diane gleefully greeted the small fairy

Abelia greeted Diane back "Hey Diane, did you and his majesty had fun?" she winked

Diane blushed "Well... you could say we did.."

Lupin clearing his throat "Ahem..."

A blushing Diane right away responded "Sorry... Hehe let's head to the closing ceremony"

Lupin responded "Yes, let's, You and mr fairy king over here can continue whatever you two were doing later..."

King was red as a tomato when Lupin said those words, he was speechless. Diane, Abelia and Lupin started laughing as they all continued to walk towards the lake, Abelia then asked Diane "So do you have your names written in the petal already?" A flustered Diane responded "Oh no! I forg-"

Before Diane could finish King responded "Yes we did, here it is!" he showed a white rose petal with "Harlequin & Diane" written on it. A cheerful Diane responded

"Oh King! Let me see"

King right away hid the petal "No...N..Not yet! I'll show you when we are at the lake, I promise" he then told himself "(glad giants aren't able to read thoughts or else I would be fucked, I can't believe I am about to do this...There's no backing down now, idiot. You either man up or watch someone else take her away from you)"

Diane huffed in an annoyed way "ugh fine... We are almost there anyways"

As they approached the lake, Diane was amazed at the amount of people that were surrounding the lake. She started to get excited, so much that she started runing towards the lake "I will go right ahead and find us a nice spot" King then shouted "Diane wai-"

Lupin then interrupted "Let her be"

Abelia followed "You need to relax, or else how are you gonna even propose to her if you're such a nervous wreck already"

A shocked King stared at the strawberry blonde fairy but then he remembered "Oh right you're a fairy as well so of course you can read my thoughts"

Abelia grinned "His majesty needs to keep a better composure if he wants to propose to the beautiful giantess"

"She's right you know..Go right ahead, miss Abelia and I will be waiting for you guys right here"

The very flustered red haired fairy went to meet up with his beloved at the lake. He finally met up with her only to see that she was in awe at all the petals that were in the lake already, she seemed so happy she could almost cry. he thought to himself "(Okay Harlequin this is it! this is your chance to show her how you truly feel...)"

He got closer to her "There you are Diane... D...Do...Do You... Do You want to put the petal in the Lake?" her eyes brighten up as King said that to her "Of course silly! I've been looking forward to this all day, I've been looking forward to do this with you"

He was such a nervous wreck, his hands were shaking, thinking to himself "(I proposed to her before... But why is it so hard? Why am I like this? Okay it's now or never, Harlequin)"

Dianes eyes changed from joy to worry seeing her lover being so aflicted she asked "King...Are you okay? you don't look so good"

He right away responded "I am fine, I am so sorry to always worry you. Here take this please but before you put in the lake can you check if I didn't make any mistakes?"

Diane smiled "Oh King, how hard can our names be? is that what bothered you? you are so strange sometimes...Okay I will look at it"

She took the petal from him and started to look at it. She smiled as she saw the two names, she felt her heart light up with joy. She then noticed there was something written in back of the petal. She thought "(oh did he really make a mistake? oh King...)" she giggled as she flipped the petal, she then saw what the petal said, she was shocked...

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..

The petal said the following

"Will you marry me?"

She turned her vision towards King with tears of joy in her eyes "Silly, you proposed to me before...and the answer is still yes!"

The shy fairy king replied "Diane please let me do this..." he then continued "When I proposed to you, we were in battle and I was an idiot to think I was gonna let you propose first when I was the one that should have man up and done it. Now this festival, this ceremony is the perfect place to do so. We have shared so much all these years, I am so happy that I got to share all those moments with you. As I said many times I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I want us to rule the fairy king forest together. I want to start a family with you someday, you make my world happy. I use to be such a distrustful person, I ran from my responsibilities and I was pretty much a selfish man. But it was you, Diane. You changed me in to a better man, still I have my flaws but I promise you, I will try my best to improve as a person and as a man for you."

He got something out of his pocket it was a rose shaped box, in the box there was the most gorgeous Tanzanite white gold ring with a small citrine gem next to the Tanzanite. As he started to get on his knees he noticed there was a crowd watching them, he started to get as red as the box he was holding but mustered up the courage to continue what he was planing to do here in the first place.

Clears his throat "Diane, would you do me the honor to become my wife?"

Diane shedding tears of joy "My answer is still the same...Yes Harlequin, I will become your wife" He proceeds to take her hand and put the ring on her finger, he noticed Diane's hand was shaking, he smiles, gets up and proceeds to kiss her. They both throw the petal in the lake and as soon as their petal touched the water, the lake started to emit a purple light, the rose petals that were in the lake started to shine and turn in to sparks that headed towards the sky, it was a marvelous light show. Diane was drunk with happiness, she really couldn't believe this was happening she thought to herself "(This is one of the happiest days of my life, I too will do my best to make you happy, Harlequin)" They sat down, embraced each other while watching as the light show ends.
