Ch. 06 Mephistopheles
Everyone started to leave the lake, staring at the crowd King said "Let's stay a little longer, let's just wait till everyone else leaves"
Diane smiled and agreed to the idea, the crowd started to get smaller and smaller till they were the only ones left, King got near Diane and went in for a kiss, as they kept kissing, he heard some steps aproaching them, it was Lupin and Abelia
Lupin cleared his throat "ahem!"
Diane pushed King away "Oh my godness, I am so sorry we totally forgot we were gonna meet up after the festival ended"
Abelia smirked and teased "It seems you and his majesty were getting super comfortable with eachother"
King blushed "who asked you Abelia? I do apologize Lupin"
Lupin laughed "No worries, let's go home, as I promised... You can stay at my place, we will just walk Miss Abelia home first"
Abelia smiled "Lupin, you really don't need to do that, you have done so much for me already"
Lupin not willing to take no for an answer "Nonsense! you are a fairy and you know... Even though all the people in this village love you, but there's some crooks that might try to hurt you, come let's go missy" He pushed her towards the direction of her place, she smiled and said "thank you, Lupin"
Everyone continued walking back to the village, people started to pick up their things, from food stands to trinket stands started to pack their things and go.
Abelia smiled "this year's festival was lovely... Although I know my dear Helbram's fate, but at the same time I am happy that I finally...I finally know what happened to him, I can finally move on with my life."
King and Diane looked a bit sad hearing the strawberry blonde fairy, they couldn't help but to feel bad for her. Abelia noticed the mood was becoming a bit dark, she right away said "You two don't need to feel bad for me, I thank you both for caring about me. I am thankful that I got to meet you again King Harlequin and you..Diane, you're very kind and I can see why his majesty fell for you. You two really are like king Gloxinia and king Drole, I am sure you two will once again unite both clans"
Diane with a happy expression on her face "Thank you I hope King and I can guide our people just like King Gloxinia and King Drole did."
"I am sure you will... Oh hey looks like we are here!" Abelia replied as they stopped at her shop.
"We will wait till you get inside your house, I'll send my black hound to watch over you..." Lupin said as he took out a baton like wand "I summon you, Arsene"
Black flames started to souround Lupin, then the flames moved towards the front of Abelia's flower shop, the flames started to take the shape of a dog. Lupin pleased with himself "There you are, you know the drill... Watch over miss Abelia for me, you know what will happen if you fail your mission right" said the man with a stern look on his face
the dog spoke "Yes, master Lupin I will use my life if necessary to protect Lady Abelia"
Diane and King were shocked at everything that was happening right before their eyes, Diane said "Wow it talked..."
The dog responded "Yes, my name is Arsene and I am a fire black hound, I serve under Master Lupin-"
Lupin then interrupted the hound "That's quite enough from you Arsene, go on with your mission"
"Yes master" he proceeded to follow Abelia "Thank you Lupin, don't worry I won't cause Arsene any unnecessary troubles, goodnight" she got inside the shop which is the only way to get to her house and closed the door behind her.
Lupin with a smile on his face "That takes care of that...Shall we?"
King asked "I thought black hounds were extinct"
"Oh?" Lupin laughed "You really thought Oslo was the only black hound left in this world?"
Shocked King asked "Wait...How do you know about Oslo?"
Lupin smiled at the fairy king "He was a reincarnation of a human that wanted to redeem himself and protect the fairy clan, I happened to stumble upon his soul and granted him that wish in the form of a black hound, he was the one who you use to call Oslo" he then continued "The reason that black hounds are rare is because they are created with the souls of the departed that wish to protect something or to redeem themselves from their past. You see Arsene was the werewolf man that couldn't protect his beloved, his wish was to find his beloved and I granted him that wish but in exchange he will have to serve under me as a black hound-"
"Wait" King said "What about Oslo? what did he have to give in exchange"
The man smiled "That's easy... His price was to serve under the fairy kings and protect them with his life, which pretty much aligned with his wish, I too can sometimes be a benevolent man"
As they kept walking, Diane asked "Lupin, who are you really? You seem to know so much about everything"
Lupin grinned "That's another mystery for you to find out but for now just see me as an old noble man that likes to keep this village safe"
As the three of them kept walking, out of the blue a gorgeous woman dressed in gold, with dark short hair and amber eyes appeared right before them
"Are you really going to continue to hide in this backwater village, Mephistopheles?"
"Ah Lady Bune didn't expected to see you here, It's been forever" he smiled
"Don't play dumb, you know why I am here. We have a new demon King, Lord Lucifer summoned us to serve under the new king"
"Wow I really been out of the loop now have I? Wasn't our majesty Lord Lucifer the one in charge?"
"Life on earth really has changed you huh, Mephisto? I came to pick you up I will tell you everything on our way back"
"No can do, Lady Bune. I told King Lucifer I wasn't going to come back and in exchange I gave him 60% of my powers. I made a deal and paid a hefty sum for that"
"Right..." Lady Bune said "About that, Here..." She handed him a white gold bracelet encrusted with 6 black diamonds "I believe this is yours" Lady Bune smirked
"I dont need it!" Mephisto barked at Lady Bune "A deal is a deal, a deal between demons can't be broken, so be on your way and congratulate the new demon king for me"
Lady Bune, with an angry expression on her face "You know King Lucifer, told me I could use force if I needed to he even let me take my hell hounds out to play, so-"
"Before you do that, does our past king know about Catrina, if he doesn't it might slip my lips, I wonder how he will take the fact that Catrina let's the dead roam for a day to visit their loved ones, isn't that forbidden even for us..."
Shocked, Lady Bune said "How do you know about Catrina?"
"You know I have black hounds everywhere in this world, despite my lack of powers I still rule over the black hounds here on earth so nothing escapes me"
Lady Bune with a resigned look on her face "Fine, I tried and besides you're not even worth my time, they should have sent Master Paimon to come for you instead of me, I rule over the dead I am not some baby sitter"
Mephisto started laughing "Yes that's right, Lady Bune or should I say Madame Catrina... You have taken a liking to humans, specially how they benerate you as Catrina"
Lady Bune smiled "I won't lie there are some loyal humans out there that have benerated me for centuries As Catrina or as Duchess Bune, I'll report to King Lucifer, but be on your toes because he might send other demons after you, I wonder if King Meliodas will come to pick you up himself"
King and Diane saw and heard all the conversation but they couldn't understand what they were saying but they did hear the name Meliodas mentoned.
"King they are they talkiing about the captain?"
"I'll try and ask" he aproached Lady Bune and Mephisto "Excuse me, are you talking about captain Meliodas, he brought Lady Elizaberh Lioness"
Bune with an annoyed look on her face "You're not a human... You're a fairy, I despise your kind" she threw a diamond spear.
Diane right away pushed king and activated heavy metal, destroying the spear as it hit her body
"Oh... a giantess but why are you so small? I have nothing against you, your kind has benerated me for centuries, why are you protecting this disgusting fairy, aren't you repulsed by his smell"
Diane responded "Please do not harm King, he is my fiance and I love him, You are Lady Bune are you not? Yes it has to be you, you look like one of the statues in Megadozer, please Lady Bune, we will not get in your way, but we just want to know our captain, or King Meliodas as you call him is okay?"
Bune stared at the giantess and felt pity for her "Alright I won't harm that disgusting fairy, but tell him to stay away or I will pierce his heart, I will only allow you to talk. As for your captain..King Meliodas is fine along with that angel girl you call Elizabeth, he is just looking to take Mephis...I mean Lupin... But it seems he won't be coming with me" She then turned to Mephisto "If you really value this town and these humans you will come with me, because unlike me our other brothers and sisters won't be as patient or merciful as I am, so are you really going to expose humans to that danger?"
Mephisto with a smug expression on his face "I am sure the current Demon King will not allow for such a thing to happen, if he really is Meliodas he is gonna make sure everyone doesn't go ahead and harm the humans specially with her by his side, so quit the bluffing, you're talking to the king of deceit here"
A very annoyed Lady Bune replies "Figured as much... Fine I am taking my leave, but I will be bac-"
Suddenly a dark portal appears right before everyone's eyes, a blonde green eyed man comes out of it "I knew you weren't gonna come with Lady Bune, so I came to pick you up myself"
Diane and King with clear joy in their eyes "CAPTAIN!"
Meliodas with a smile "Hiya, it's only been a 6 years since we saw eachother"
King with a confused look "Captain, what are you talking about? its only been less than a week..."
Diane reminded King "King the time on earth and the time on the demon world is very different, when a day passes it's basically a year in the demon world."
"Oh...Right I forgot" King responded
"Right...King, Diane it was great seeing you, but I have things to talk to old man Lupin over here"
Distressed Lady Bune responds "Your Majesty I am sorry I failed you and King Lucifer, I will take any form of punishment you deem apropriate"
Meliodas responds with a shrug "Listen... I won't punish you and gramps probably doesn't mind, he knew about you being Madam Catrina so I am sure he won't mind me coming to the human world as long as Mep... Lupin is brought back with us" Meliodas then turned to Lupin "There's something we need to talk about" he then took Lupin and they stayed a while talking, as soon as they finished Meliodas said "I am sorry I had to bring you back..."
Lupin with a sad expression on his face finally realizing there is no way getting out of this and with a resigned look on his face "Fine... You win your highness"
Lady Bune beaming with joy gives him his bracelet "I believe this is yours"
With a glum expression on his face he takes the bracelet, the bracelet starts to shine and the encrusted black diamonds start to turn in to orbs that enter his body. His body starts to glow, transforming him. Now Wearing a white tuxedo with a hat and white robe, maintaining his wolf like appearance.
Lady Bune smirking "This suits you Better"
Lupin annoyed responds "Shut it.. Let's go your highness, but before I forget I have some things to do"
He then turns towards Diane and King "Here's the keys to my home, shake them three times and they will guide you to my home, you can stay as long as you want, once you are ready to leave, please give the keys to miss Abelia." he then turns towards the sky he takes out his baton like wand, he closes his eyes as he points the wand towards the sky, internally he says the following "(Arsene, pay atention to my words, from now your new master is Abelia you are to protect her, should you fail on your mission you will instantly die, should you fail to follow her orders you shall die in the most painful way you could think, keep her safe always, I attached a letter to you, you are to give it to miss Abelia once she awakens, with that I bid you farewell)" he then thought to himself "(I am sorry I couldn't say goodbye to you personally, I am sure you will understand)" turns back to Meliodas "Okay I am done, let's get going, your highness"
Diane and King saw all of this happening, but they seemed to be at a loss for words...They were happy to see their captain but at the same time sad because they know this wont be permanent.
Meliodas with a happy look on his face "Come on you two don't look at me like that, I am happy to see you both. King you finally mustered up the courage to propose to Diane the right way" King blushed as he heard Meliodas words, Meliodas then continued "As for you Diane I am proud of you for coming such a long way, from the scared giantess to the powerful woman that stands right in front of me, I miss you all but I have a duty to my people as well, as long as my sweet Elizabeth is with me things won't be as bad" He winked.
Diane responded "Please captain say hi to Elizabeth for me"
Meliodas smiled "Will do! Alright Bune, Lupin are you ready?"
Both Lady Bune and Mephisto responded "Ready..."
Meliodas waved goodbye as the portal once again opened taking Lady Bune, Mephisto and Meliodas with it, as fast as the portal appeared, it dissapeared.
