Chapter 39

Forgiveness (Part 2) - Bunny

Soon the others showed up. The meeting started. They all laughed and had fun. It had been a while since they had spent some good quality time together.

As the meeting went on. North seemed to slowly forgive himself. Jack was still going to talk to the man after the meeting was over.

As night fell Sandy and Tooth had to take their leave. Leaving Jack North and Bunny to themselves.

North got up first. Jack went after him. "North?"

"Thank you, Jack. For telling me what you did. I think sometime in the future I will forgive myself."

Jack smiled at that. "Goodnight north."

It had been a month since the meeting. Jack had been doing a lot of thinking at that time. He couldn't help the feeling that the others were feeling the same way.

Well, he would just after have to ask them he supposed.

And he would just have to start with Bunny.

Speaking of Bunny. Jack was on his way to the warren to bug bunny a bit.

What? He was bored.

Jack arrived at the warren. It had been a while since he had been there. It hadn't changed much. It was a little colder than normal but other than that it was still the same. Jack landed on the grassy fields. He soon found the furry kangaroo.

Jack found bunny sitting by the dye streams with his egglets jumping around him as he delicately painted one. Jack was getting ready to scare bunny when… the kangaroo let out a long tired sigh.

And…

Started talking…

"Ya know little guys… ah' really messed up…" jack heard bunny start. Jack wondered if bunny knew he was there?

The egglets looked up at him seeming sad and questioning.

"Yup… messed up big time… ah' wish ah' hadn't been such a jerk! The easter bunny yelling at a kid 'cause he made it snow! Urgh!" bunny through his paws up in the air in frustration.

"What kind of guardian does that…?" Bunny sighed again. The egglets jumped trying to cheer up their maker.

Jack flew over to Bunny quietly. Did Sandy and Tooth think like this too? Man, he really is going to need a mental break after this… Jack was soon right behind the bunny and he gently wrapped his skinny arms around the bunny.

Bunny jumped hard. Almost standing from how startled he was. He was about to attack when he realized the cold pale arms of a certain winter spirit. He stopped and stumped.

"Ya heard everythin' didn't cha frostbite?"

"Yeah…"

Bunny sighed once more.

"I swore ta myself that ah' would neve' tell ya…"

"I figured as much… North is struggling with guilt too…"

Bunny turned. "Is that why yer here?"

"No I came here to scare ya but… seems that plan went out the door."

Jack laughed light-heartedly.

Bunny chuckled.

"Now bunny… you know I don't blame you or the others for leaving me alone right? I understand why I had to be alone… and it made me who i am. So I should really actually be grateful for all those years by myself."

Bunny laughed loud and hard. He laughed a good long while to the point that it was starting to scare Jack a little. Then Jack realized that… bunny was … crying…

Jack went and started to hug the kangaroo again. Long and hard…

By the time bunny was done crying, Jack seemed to have cried a little himself but not loud or hard. It was more like empathy tears than anything…

Jack was also hugging bunny like he was a lifeline.

"Jack?" Bunny sniffles a little.

Jack jumped slightly startled.

"Yeah?" Jack didn't move.

Bunny chuckled.

"Im good now."

"Ah, okay um…" Jack started to pull away.

Bunny suddenly hugged jack.

Jack was shocked but also happy.

"Thank you jack."

"No problem kangaroo."

Bunny pulled back and laughed hard at that.

Bunny then abruptly stopped laughing.

"Ya better neve' speak about this to the others."

"Wasn't planning on it kangaroo."

"And I am not a kangaroo! Ah'm a bunny!"

The warren was filled with joyful laughter.

Hey guys… sorry I haven't updated in a while…. I think after I finish this part series I'm going to take a break for a bit… I don't know how long. But I'll post something when I'm coming back. 2020 has been a really crazy year… Thank you all for being so patient with me…. And thank you all for your wonderful support, and I hope you all enjoyed the chapter!
