81. Far-Fetched.

"They say a great sorceress lives in these woods. An elf witch of terrible power."

Pippin lay, staring up at the stars, mulling over Gimli's words as they had entered the beautiful forest. True, he thought. Galadriel seemed ethereal and exuded a feeling of great intensity but so had Master Elrond and even Legolas seemed otherworldly at times.

He wriggled to the left to avoid the small stone that had been poking him between the shoulder blades before returning to his contemplations.

Celeborn though, Pippin felt was a completely different bucket of mushrooms. Those piercing blue eyes held all the ice of a winter's storm and he radiated strength. Maybe Gimli had heard the stories wrong. Maybe it was a great sorcerer they alluded to but on second thoughts that would mean it was a wizard, not a witch and Celeborn looked nothing like Gandalf!

Pippin sighed and wondered if Dwarves had old wives tales like hobbits did. That would explain such a far-fetched story. After all Galadriel was such a fair and gently spoken elf, how anyone could mistake her for an old hag he had no idea.

Curling onto his side with a yawn the small hobbit smiled to himself. Dwarves were strange creatures with strange ideas indeed he concluded.
