Chapter 13
Jade
It has been a month since Trina brought Little David home from the hospital, and for the most part it has been great living with them. But then Sam had to go back to Seattle to deal with her birth mother and Mom and Dad didn't think that Cat should be that far away so soon after leaving the hospital, and Robbie was leaving for England for a job interview with the BBC and Cat didn't feel comfortable staying at the apartment with just her and Robin. So we moved everything out of Dad's office to the loft over the garage, and moved Cat and Robin into his office.
After about a week of everyone being there, I started to feel very boxed in. It seemed like everywhere I turned, there was someone there. I couldn't find a place to be by myself to think, and forget about trying to get into the bathroom in the mornings with five girls in the house and only three bathrooms. Sure, Tori and I had our own bathroom, but when the hall one was being used any empty one was up for grabs. To make matters worse, about a week ago Robin started to kick me out of bed and sleeping with Tori. I guess with Sam being gone, Cat cries a lot in her sleep and kicks, so I end up sleeping on a blow up bed on the floor while our little sister is in bed with my wife.
Today I received the last of the paperwork on my Grandfather's house and decided that I would go over there in the morning and take a look around. I walked into my bedroom to find Tori alone and smiled. This could be the last time we have a chance to be alone for a while, so I'm going to take full advantage of it. "Hey babe," I said, closing the door and locking it behind me before walking to the bed where she was sitting looking at some book.
"Hey," she replied, idly flipping the page in her book.
"Looks like we're alone for once," I said, stretching and arching my back, putting myself into a seductive pose.
"Yeah, but not for long. Cat is going to be bringing some of her toys that she found in her Nana's storage unit when they cleaned it out last week," she told me, not once looking up from the book.
"Why now? Can't you two do that later?" I griped.
"I guess we could, but she has therapy later, and I have that class over at UCAL." She finally looked up at me, eyed my pose, and raised an eyebrow. "But if you want, I could call her and tell her we have to do it another time," she said looking back to her book, a small teasing smile on her lips.
"No don't do that. I know how much you enjoy helping Cat with her collection. I just wanted a little time with you, that's all," I said straightening up and getting things ready for tomorrow.
"Well, we have right now, and I don't think she's going to be back right away," Tori said. I feel her arms slide around my waist, and she pulls me closer to her. "Plus, we always have tomorrow. Robin is going shopping with Mom and Trina. And Dad is taking Little David out for a Grandpa day with Sikowitz. So we will have all day to ourselves. Well, until the guys get tired of taking care of the baby, that is," she told me as she kissed my neck. I leaned back into her for a moment, sighing.
"Well, I'm going to busy tomorrow, so the house will be yours and Cat's. I'm going to my Grandfather's place to look around, the rest of the paperwork came today. So I thought I would make a day of it." I turned in her arms and pulled her even closer to me. "You know it would be nice if you came with me. We could make plans on what we are going to do with the place." I leaned in and kissed her. It felt like I haven't kissed her in years. I started to pull away, but she held me in place with her hand on my neck and without notice, she deepened the kiss by entering my mouth. I let out a small moan and tried to pull her even closer.
Tori started to move us both back and we stumbled to the bed with me landing on top of her. She moaned loudly into my mouth when my knee pressed into her center. Not wanting to waste any time on foreplay, I reached down and undid her pants, pulling them down as far as I could. Tori kicked them off and I slid my hand down to her wet, hot center. We both moaned as my two fingers entered her and I started a slow pace.
Tori was thrusting to meet my pace and trying to undo my pants at the same time. When she finally had them undone, she shoved them down and I kicked them off. Tori then reached down and slid two fingers into me, and we both moved as one as we made love.
There was a knock at the door and we hear Cat call from the other side. "Tori you in there?" Tori looked up at me but didn't stop moving. She just rolled her eyes.
"Y-Yes…but I'm b-busy," Tori said, panting. I moved down a little and thrust a bit harder. "Oh, Jade," Tori moaned aloud.
"Busy, right…I'll be downstairs." Then she was gone, the sound of her feet fading as they thumped down the hall to the stairs.
I continued to thrust as hard as I could, and Tori was becoming louder. I knew she was close, but I wanted to go over the edge with her, so I picked up the pace with my hips meeting her thrusts and we both fell into heaven together, looking into each other's eyes and our moans echoing in the room.
I rolled off of my wife and licked my fingers clean as I lay next to her, panting and watching her do the same. I leaned over and kissed her on the lips. "I love you, Tori," I said, a shaky quiver in my voice as I came down.
"I love you too," she whimpered, and sighed happily.
"Tori, you know I love living here, and you know I love the family, but baby, it's getting too crowded. I know Mom and Dad wanted us to stay here until we were out of school, but I don't think that is the best idea any more. I know you want our own place, and we have to face the facts here. We don't need to have a twenty-four hour watch anymore, it's Trina's turn to have Mom and Dad all to herself. Plus The Walking Dead isn't going to last forever and no one person's part is a given on that show, Beck could be wrote off at any time, or they could just not renew his contract, so he will be here too. Which that is the way it should be," I told her, holding her in my arms.
Tori moved so she could look at me. "Baby I do want our own place, and I do think we are ready to move out, but do you think they will be?"
"I think so, I think they are ready for us to move out. Funny, we're here worried about Mom and Dad like they're the kids."
"Yeah, it is kind of funny. But not just them. Do you think the others are ready for us to make this move? I mean, they know if they need us, they can come here 'home' and we'll be here for them, but if we move, they might not feel like they can come to us," Tori said with a worried look.
"Yeah they will. They will just be coming to us at our place, not 'home'. Don't worry baby, they will be fine. They were fine before we all called this place 'home,' and they will be just as good after we move out. I may have brought this band of freaks together as friends, but it was you that made us a family, and together we brought them all 'home'. So they will be just fine. And they will come to us when they need us, but just like Mom and Dad, we have to let them go be whatever kind of freaks they're going to be. Just be ready to let them go, mama bear," I told her, and kissed the tear running down her cheek. "But for right now, you better go get Cat before she starts to think you forgot about her."
Tori sat up and leaned in, kissing me. "They may be lucky that you are their sister, but I'm blessed because you're my wife." She kissed me again and slid off the bed to get a fresh pair of underpants.
"Yes, but in this family you would be seen as my sister-wife," I laughed as she threw a pair of socks at me.
"That's not funny," she said with a frown.
"A little bit funny," I replied, grabbing myself a fresh pair of underwear and slipped them on. She flipped a dismissive wave at me as she re-buttoned her pants.
Tori left the room to go find Cat, and I got dressed and got my things to leave. I decided since Tori was busy today, that I would go look at the house alone. I ran down the stairs to find Cat and Tori in the kitchen with boxes of toys all around them. Mom and Robin were in the living room, working on Robin's homework and Trina was on the floor with Little David. I walked over to Tori giving her a small kiss. "I'm going to go to the house today and check it out," I told her.
"I thought we were going to go tomorrow?" she asked, looking a little hurt.
"We are. I just kind of like the idea of going and having a little alone time there, you know, to remember my Grandfather," I said.
"I get that." Tori smiled and kissed me good-bye.
"Hey Jade, if it would be alright with you, I would like to go see the house again. I haven't been there in years," Cat said with a small smile like she was remembering our childhood.
"Yeah, of course you can. What do think Tori, can she tag along tomorrow?"
"Yep. I was going to ask you that very same question."
"Cool, so it's set. We go tomorrow. Okay I'm out. Love you," I said, kissing Tori again and walked over to kiss Cat.
"Love you too," Tori and Cat said together.
"Have fun Jade, and don't forget that we have dinner plans with Tiffany tonight," Mom said as I stopped to give her and Robin a kiss.
"I won't. I'll be back around four," I said, kissing Trina and Little David. I swear, sometimes it takes longer to get out of the house than the time we're gone. "Okay, love you, see you when I'm back." I closed the door and jogged to my car.
I drove up to the house and punched in the code on the keypad at the gate. Funny, it never changed and I can't believe I remember it. I can't believe I forgot my Grandfather. I mean, he was so important to me and then after the fallout between my father and him, it was like he was erased from my mind until the day I saw him lying there in that box. And of course, after Cat came home, she helped me remember more about the time we spent here. Her, Beck, Robbie and I all here, running away from the pain that waited for us at our homes. Beck with his father hating him, and his mother never standing up for her child. Me with no one to come home to, and when there was they didn't notice I was there, and poor Cat and Robbie, knowing they weren't wanted. And Cat was only there to keep her brother alive. But here, we were always wanted, and we could be the kids we were. We could run and play and dream. Every time we came here, they were all happy to see us, and every time we left, they were sad to see us go. Now I'm back at the place that held all my childhood's fondest memories. Now it is my turn to open this place to the people that mean the world to me, and now we can watch all of those dreams come true.
I drove up to the main house and got out of the car and dug in my bag for the house keys. I walked up to the door and was about to put the key in the lock, but jumped back when the door opened. I reached into my bag for my scissors, only to drop them back in place when I looked at the person standing in the doorway. It was my Grandfather's housekeeper. She stood there, looking at me like she had seen a ghost. I haven't seen her in so long, but she hasn't changed much, just a little more grey and maybe a bit heavier than before. "Can I help you, young lady?" Janice asked.
I smiled and looked at her. "I guess you don't remember me, Janice. I am Jade West. This was my grandfather's house." I had to laugh at the dance she did before she took me into a tight hug, and I felt the sobs rise through her body before I heard them. When she let me go, I saw the tears roll down her face and I stood back, looking at this woman that was so happy to see me and I ran back into the arms of this woman that I had at one time loved, and buried my face into her chest and let the tears fall.
We held each other for a few more seconds, then she held me out at arm's length, looking at me. "Let me look at you. Oh Jade, you are so beautiful. Just like your pictures."
I cocked my head to the side, looking at her. "If you have pictures, why didn't you know who I was?" I asked, but then I thought I may have just stepped in it. What if she has something wrong, like dementia?
"Oh. No, I didn't recognize you right away, but once you smiled at me and spoke, I knew it was you. Well, the smile. You were very polite, so just by voice could have taken me longer," she said, smiling at me like she just told me the funniest joke ever.
I shook my head and pointed to the inside of the house where she stepped aside and let me. "Well, I'm not as rude as I used to be. I get into trouble for that now. My better half doesn't like it when I am, so I have calmed down a lot. So who gave you pictures of me? It wasn't my father was it?"
"No dear, it was your sister. She got them from your brother and gave a copy to us over the years. Your father didn't know anything about them. Until you left the family, that is. He found out that you had moved in with the Vega's and really, that didn't bother him as bad as you taking another man as your father. He was so upset about you changing your name to Vega that he called his own father after so many years to find out what he could do to get you back. It was Lionel who told him that he had to let you go. You were happy with this family and he had to let you be," she told me as we walked into the family room, where on the wall, were pictures of my brother, sister and me. I walked to the fireplace and there, placed on the mantle, were more pictures and next to the fireplace was a bookshelf with yet more pictures but mixed in them were pictures of Cat, Beck and Robbie. "You see Jade, your Grandfather has pictures of all his kids. Tess was able to get copies of all of you throughout the years, and Lionel cherished every one of them. He even has playbooks of every play you all have been in, and posters for most of them. He saved everything right up to you and Beck's wedding announcements, he was so proud of you two. Surprised it was to other people, but proud. He would tell people that his grandchildren had gotten married and he was about to be a Great Grandfather again," she told me while looking at a picture of him with all of us kids together. She sighed.
"I wish I could have seen him before he passed, but I was told that he was the one that never wanted us to come back. My father spun so many lies that I never really knew the real story of what happened, and personally at this point, I really don't care. I know now that he really did love me and that is all that matters. I can't believe he kept all of this stuff. I have another picture for his collection." I dug in my bag and pulled out my wallet. I walked over to the picture of Beck and placed the wallet sized picture of Little David in the corner of the frame. "There, now he has a picture of his great grandson. Does he have one of Tess's son? I have one if he doesn't." I looked back to Janice to see her beaming smile flashing at me.
"Yes he does. And he also has your wedding photo. Oh Jade, your wife is very beautiful, and I understand Beck married her sister," she chuckled, and shook her head, smiling.
"Yes he did. Trina is a wonderful girl and great sister in-law, but we don't call each other in-laws, we're just sister. It's a big weird mess we call a family, but a good story."
"Well then, you come into the kitchen and I'll make you some coffee, and you can tell me all about it," she said, taking me to the kitchen, where she did make me coffee and I did tell her everything, starting with the day I met the girl that changed my life.
AN: Chapters are done I just need to find time to post them. I have taken a long leave from work to help take care of my mother, who has been fighting cancer. Between my father and two of my brothers and my partner, we are with her around the clock. Sleep has become a dirty joke we all want to hear, so if it looks like I have given up on this story, I have not given up. I have been very busy.
