Wow, I haven't updated in ages.
Anyway, hello again! It's been a long time since I updated this story, and I really feel bad about not continuing it for a long time.
I apologize in advance for the grammar mistakes and for inconsistencies if you find one!
Now on with the story!
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THE COMICS OR ANY OF ITS CHARACTERS.
Bruce was getting too old for this. Like, really old.
Okay, so he may not be that old, but handling four boys with huge amounts of energy is too much for him... especially Bat-trained boys.
How does Alfred manage to deal with this? Every time his boys did something, Bruce feels like all of his hair are just going to go all white at the same time, or for the worse, he might go bald.
"Excuse me, sir." Bruce politely said to the man standing in his way. The man moved back a bit to unblock the entrance of Bat Burger. Bruce could tell from the man's facial expressions that he did not expect that a rich, billionaire-playboy Bruce Wayne would be entering an establishment in a common part of Gotham such as this one.
The media did say one time that Bruce Wayne could be a man of surprises after all. Bruce just smiled and nodded at the man as he entered Bat Burger.
'Tim stated that he saw Dick here,' Bruce thought, 'but where though?' He scanned the area. Then, just right there, he saw a wild-looking Tim Drake with a bewildered Dick Grayson. And who were those two girls?
He decided to wait for a bit before stepping in. He didn't want to interrupt whatever conversation they may be having; it might affect whether Dick would come with them or not. Also, he didn't want to deal with any more drama for today.
"Dick, let's go," Tim said as he pulled the man's arm, wanting him to stand up from his seat. Tim really looked wild. His hair was a bird's nest; his suit was all ruffled and dirty. Bruce sighed; Alfred is going to scold him later again; he could feel it already.
Dick meanwhile, pulled his hand away from the boy. "Nah, Replacement. I'll entertain these two girls first. Besides, I'm still hungry."
Ah yes, more proof that Dick did have Jason's memories. Dick looked really good for someone who escaped the hospital. He didn't look really that clean, but he was able to pass as one. Bruce would pretty much blame it for Dick being naturally good-looking and for the boy staying charismatic despite having Jason's memories. Not that Jason's not charismatic and not good-looking too.
The two poor girls witnessing the drama in front of them looked confused and lost about what was happening. Bruce was starting to feel sorry for their involvement. Besides, the rest of the customers and some employees were beginning to notice the blooming drama that involved his two sons.
Ah heck no, Bruce is not going to let the media have a field day over this. He is not going to let that happen.
"Tim! Dick!" Bruce waved at them as he approached them. Dick looked surprised to see him. He must have been tired as Bruce knew Dick would've usually spotted him real quick even out in the open. Tim, on the other hand, stared at him with a mix of an "I'm-so-done" and an "It-took-you-that-long-to-function?" look. Bruce gave him a sheepish look, then turned to the two girls.
"M-Mr. Wayne!" One of them had her jaw dropped while the other was a stuttering mess. Ah, fans of his then. He smiled at them.
"Hello there, you must be fans of mine. I really do apologize if my sons were bothering you." They both shook their heads.
"N-no, sir! W-we just... w-we're going to g-go now! Bye!" The stuttering one said and then went on to drag her friend and left the establishment. Bruce heard the other complain about not being able to get his autograph.
Okay, now that that's dealt with. He turned and looked at his two sons. Dick was munching the last of his fries while Tim sat down on the chair opposite Dick's, looking like he just wanted to jug down a whole pot of coffee. Bruce thought the boy could really use some sleep.
"Come, let's go back to the manor." He told them. Dick looked at him suspiciously, but after swallowing his food, his mind seemed to have come to a decision.
"No more hospitals."
Bruce had almost forgotten how much Dick disliked hospitals. He nodded. "No more hospitals."
"Okay," Dick replied as he fixed himself up.
"Thank frappuccino!" Tim exclaimed in relief and then slumped his head on the table.
The first thing Jason saw when he looked at the reflection of the burning car was his face. He swore. Jason wanted to apologize to Alfred's cookies, but who wouldn't swear when your reflection in the mirror is not your own face but someone else's?
"Language!" Bruce scolded.
Jason swore at him.
Brue just rolled his eyes and continued driving.
Jason, meanwhile, was feeling very calm right now. Because how in the world did this happen?!
"WHY THE HECK DO I LOOK LIKE GOLDIE?!" He pinched his cheek to check if he was dreaming or if this was some kind-of holographic projection thingy, but no, it was actually skin. What the-
"Dick, I would very much appreciate it if you could please keep quiet. Tim never had a decent rest in ages. So I'm letting him take any chances he's going to get."
Tim was legit snoring right beside Jason, and he actually felt like apologizing for almost interrupting the boy's sleep.
"Well, who wouldn't lose their cool over this one, huh, Bruce?" Jason pointed at his face, and for the love of- was he really that hungry to not notice that his voice was off? "Also, what the heck is with this car, huh? Freaking Bruce Wayne owns about 15 plus vehicles at home! Out of all of them, you had to choose the one that had a broken air conditioning system?" Jason fussed.
It was barely noticeable, but Jason had actually managed to see Bruce look embarrassed.
Possible blackmail in the future spotted.
Anyway, back to his ranting, but in a much more respectable volume this time for Replacement's peace.
"Why do I look like Goldie?!" Jason managed to shout in a lower volume as he asked Bruce.
"Your mission happened," Bruce stated. "Jason was aware of what was happening, but before he could tell the whole story, both of your memories switched fully."
"But... I am Jason."
"No, you're not."
"I AM."
"Hmm."
Bruce's response irked Jason. "I am Jason Peter Todd. I'm also known as the Red Hood. My father's name is Willis Todd, and my mother's name is Catherine Todd. My biological mom's name is Sheila Haywood. My birthday is on-"
"Dick, I said you have Jason's memories," Bruce stated coolly as he continued driving. They were already near the manor. "Naturally, you would know that."
Jason wanted to scream at Bruce. He is Jason! He could feel it! He was about to protest when the Replacement's eyes snapped open then he jerked from his seat.
"WHERE-oh, I guess the Bat Burger drama's over now?" Replacement asked, looking dazed as he looked around, taking notice of his current situation.
Bruce grunted a "yes."
Replacement's eyes landed on Jason. "Dick, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Replacement."
Bruce decided to interrupt them by telling the boy that he'd already explained to Jason his predicament. However, Replacement noticed that Bruce did not fill Jason in on what had happened hours before the event and so went to tell his predecessor.
"You think I'd believe that? Me? Eating cereal in the morning and actually being affectionate towards both you and Damian? Me?" Jason asked in disbelief.
"Not you," Replacement stated. "Jason."
"I'm Jason."
The Replacement sighed.
Dick was inside his room, sitting down at the edge of his bed as he stared at the poster of The Flying Graysons that was on his wall. His eyes started to water as he recalled happy memories during his time in the circus.
He then turned to look at the mirror, expecting to see his own face look at him in return but saw his little brother, Jason, instead. He grimaced. He was still not used to it.
He recalled the conversation he had earlier with Damian. The kid had apologized to him for behaving immaturely and rudely this morning. Dick had forgiven him, understanding why Damian behaved that way. He would've not believed it too if his brother claimed to be someone else he knew. Unfortunately, Damian still believed that he was still Jason, much to Dick's dismay. Fortunately, Damian had told him that he would treat him well.
Dick honestly felt like he was starting to meet Damian all over again. Before, there was a strong barrier between them, preventing Dick to reach out to Damian. As time passed, especially during Dick's time as Batman, the boy had learned to open up to Dick, accepting his hugs and his comfort. He and his Robin became closer than ever. Now, though, Dick felt like that barrier was between them again.
He hated it.
A knock from the door interrupted his thoughts. He immediately stood up and opened it. He was honestly hoping that it was Damian, but as it turned out, it was Alfred, standing in front of his room in his usual composed self.
"Master Jason," Alfred said. "Dinner is about to be served a few moments later. Please head downstairs."
"Ah yeah, sure. Thanks, Alf." He told him. Alfred nodded and was about to leave when Dick quickly added, "Ah, wait! I was wondering... where are Bruce and Tim? And is... 'Dick' alright?"
"They just arrived at the manor a few seconds ago, Master Jason," Alfred answered him. "and Master Dick is alright. Though, I am certain that he appears to have the same reactions you had this morning. Only... in a much Master Jason-like manner, I suppose."
Oh, so they're here. Great, maybe with all the family together, everyone could explain to him and Dick-Jason-whatever what's going on.
Dick nodded. "Thanks, Alf."
Family dinner has never been more awkward than ever, in Tim's opinion.
It was much more awkward than their usual TWWFD, which stood for The Weekly Wayne Family Dinner. Dick was the one who proposed the idea, wanting them to spend time together despite all their night activities and civilian activities. Tim remembered Jason protesting greatly against the idea, claiming that it was just a waste of time and that they were already doing patrols together anyway. Tim also remembered going against the idea, explaining that he had so much stuff to do, and he didn't want to be around the brat. Damian, well, the brat had similar reasons, but mostly on not wanting to spend time with "pathetic fools" such as Todd and Drake.
Bruce... Tim remembered the man looking like he wanted to agree and disagree at the same time. Bruce was also their parental figure in a way and probably wanted to spend time with them too. Bruce has been trying to be better at fixing relationships in the family recently, which was nice. However, Tim also understood why Bruce would want to disagree. The man was doing Justice League business, patrols, company stuff, and all that, Tim was surprised by how he hadn't fainted in exhaustion already.
However, their protests went down the drain when Alfred agreed with Dick's idea. After that, no one bothered to protest anymore.
So yeah, that was the history of TWWFD. Thank you for reading Tim Drake's explanation of its history. Up next: Top 10 Reasons Why Tim Drake Loves Coffee.
Anyways, back to Tim's current situation, which was sitting at the dinner table, beside Damian, of all people. Dick and Jason are staring at each other. Just that, STARING.
AWKWARD. AWKWARD. AWKWARD.
Bruce was eating his food silently at the head of the table, but Tim could sense that he was sneakily looking at his two eldest sons. Damian, meanwhile, was concentrating on eating his food, unbothered.
'As much as I hate to admit it, I kind of envy the brat right now,' Tim sulked.
Finally, the hero, otherwise known as Alfred, had managed to come to their rescue. "Young masters," He approached Dick and Jason. "You should not ignore the food while it is still warm." Alfred's face remained calm and collected, but the aura he was emitting seemed to say that he did not appreciate them ignoring his food.
Both mumbled apologies and went on to eat their dinner. Just like that, the family dinner was a quiet one once more.
