"What's wrong?" Kate asked. She stood in the entryway of Jack's apartment, watching the silhouette of him leaned against the sink, staring out the window. He had arrived late for family dinner and hadn't even gone to Aaron's room to greet the boy.

"She died. The Jane Doe."

Kate sucked her breath. Since the unidentified woman was taken to the hospital he had made it his main priority to save and now she was gone. She clenched her jaw as she approached. "I'm so sorry."

He simply shook his head and poured himself a whiskey.

"Stay here. I'll put Aaron to bed and be right back." She returned to find he hadn't moved at all. "I know you're sad—"

"I'm not sad, I'm mad!" He snarled. "I did everything right! She should have recovered!" He slammed a fist down onto the counter.

"That's okay," she placed one arm around his waist as she stood behind him. She kissed his back softly.

"Don't try to calm me down!" He snapped, knowing her motives all too well. "Just leave me alone."

She turned him to face her as she stroked his cheek. "Use me, Jack."

"What?"

"If you're angry, take your anger out on me. I can handle it, as rough as you need." Her hand ran from his chest down to the zipper. "You can spank me, choke me, pull my hair..."

He grabbed her hands so quickly she gasped and he bent her over the kitchen sink. With one hand he ripped her panties and slammed himself into her.

"Fuck. Just like that," she moaned, her body slamming into the sink over and over. Jack grabbed her hair and yanked it until her neck was exposed for his teeth. "Punish me," she begged.

He swung his hand against her ass with a crackling sound. The contact made Kate yelp with every spank. Her hips moved furiously; she needed him and all of him.

He grabbed her waist and grunted against her back as he came. While he struggled to catch his breath she slid away and began to get dressed.

"Kate, that... I mean... Jesus Christ," he stammered. He turned to find her fully dressed. "Where are you going?"

"I thought we were done?" She tilted her head curiously.

"I didn't know if you wanted to sit on the couch or—"

"Or cuddle? She laughed softly at Jack's dumbstruck reaction. "Just parents with benefits, remember? No feelings." She patted his chest before swaying down the hallway.
