"Shark!" Aaron yelled, his small hands and nose pressed up against the glass at the aquarium.
"Don't hit the glass, it'll scare him," Jack said softly. The little boy stared at his father with a gaping mouth before taking a few steps back, not touching the glass. "Thanks, buddy."
"I'm hungry," Aaron whined, tugging at Kate's hand.
"Okay. Let's go get some lunch." Kate smiled at the boy before smiling at Jack. They each held one of Aaron's hands and lifted him whenever he asked, laughing at the child's laughter.
"Aaron, your dad and I want to talk to you," Kate started when she handed Aaron his cut up chicken fingers and fries. "Do you remember your letter to Santa?" Aaron nodded his head, glancing over to his dad in confusion.
"Buddy," Jack said softly, leaning against the table "when we said to tell Santa what you wanted, we meant... I mean Santa..."
"Baby, Santa brings you toys and presents for being such a good boy," Kate tried.
"I know."
"But you shouldn't have to ask Santa for more time with your dad. That should be a job for your father and me."
"Why?"
"Because Santa doesn't boss people around. He gives gifts. But your dad and I are the ones who can help you see your dad more."
Aaron glanced over at Jack again.
"You never have to be afraid to tell us if you want something or feel some way," Jack added.
"I'm sorry."
"No, you don't have to be sorry. You didn't do anything wrong," Jack said quickly.
"You never have to apologize for the way you feel," Kate added. "But, because we know how you've been feeling, guess what?"
"What?" Aaron asked.
"I'm moving in!" Jack announced.
"Really?"
"By the time we get home, the movers will have finished setting up your dads room. The room right next to yours will be daddy's room."
Aaron's eyes lit up at the idea. His reaction brought a smile to Kate's face. She spent so much time questioning her every decision as a parent but there was no doubt in her mind that bringing Jack into Aaron's life was the best decision she had made.
Aaron was asleep before they left the parking lot of the aquarium. Jack carried him inside and put him to bed while Kate admired from behind. Watching Jack with Aaron made it hard for her to pretend she didn't feel more than a sexual attraction towards Jack.
"He's out like a light," Jack whispered in the hallway.
"Well he had an exciting day."
"That was a great idea, Kate."
"Thanks for taking a day off work to join us," she smiled. There was a time when it wasn't so easy to get him to miss work. He had an important job and she understood that but she had always hoped he could make more fun trips with Aaron. "He really loves you."
"I really love him," Jack responded. He wanted to tell her that he loved her too but he saw the look in her eyes. He knew what was on her mind. He glanced down, smiling slyly and thanking God that him being a good father had this kind of affect on Kate.
Sure enough, Kate swayed over to his side. Her fingers wrapped around his belt loops and pulled him closer. She glanced up at him, almost hesitantly before kissing him.
In no time at all they had moved to the bed and peeled every article of clothing off one another. Kate straddled him and they both moaned loudly as she slid down on him, taking all of him as she did. She maintained a slow but steady pace to drive him crazy. She put her arms behind her, balancing herself on Jack's legs so he could watch her take him in. She blushed at the way he stared.
When the frustration mounted longer than he could handle, he grabbed her hips and lifted her up and down frantically. The intense motion sent her spiraling. In no time, she was scratching his chest as she clenched hard around his member.
The feel of Kate's core clenching and tightening around him sent him over the edge as he exploded inside her with an animalistic grunt.
The two laid in her bed in silence for a moment as he held her against him. "I guess I should head to my room, it's getting late," he finally whispered. He brushed the hair from the side of her face, hoping for any hint that she didn't want him to leave.
"Today was a good day," she whispered, her eyes locking with his. She had so much more she wanted to say and yet couldn't bring herself to say it. Jack had somehow become the person she could tell most anything to but also who she kept her feelings hidden.
She tossed and turned for a few moments, but knew what she needed in order to sleep.
She crept into Jack's room, saying nothing. As she crawled in next to him, he liftedl
