Captain's Log. Star Date 2924.1

After informing Star Fleet of Sub-Commander Aurora's condition, and the status of her crew and ship, Senior Leadership is very interested in meeting her. They have already begun shuttling in to Yorktown, as well as several diplomats throughout known space. No doubt to speak to Sub-Commander Aurora and try to lay the ground work for potential political agendas.

I've asked that Dr. Wallace aid her in understanding our current culture and the state of affairs with our neighbors. I suppose I can't believe how surprised I was by how effectively Sub-Commander Aurora caught up to current events, given how advanced her kind is. In the span of a shipboard hour she covered all of Human history, up until now. She then also studied the entirety of all the planets and races in our ship's onboard databank in another hour and a half.

Two of Sub-Commander Aurora's First Officers and her Ship's Surgeon have accompanied her here aboard the Enterprise. After some initial stumbling around each other, my crew has come to view each in their own unique way.

First Officer Hitch has taught both Scotty and Jayla more about engineering than I will ever know. I think at one point Scotty even mentioned a warp drive that would be less radioactive, about the same size as a basketball, and weigh as much too. From his face I could tell he was enthusiastic about the idea. Jayla was initially reserved, until Hitch offered to upgrade her new music system.

Depthfeather, the resident Surgeon of the SEEKERS vessel knows as much about organic repair as he does about mechanical. He and Bones are in Med-Bay going over procedure after procedure and removing more flaws than I care to comment about in this log. Just so long as Bones doesn't ask for any other vaccines Depthfeather may have, I'm happy.

First Officer Soundjaw was a rather unexpected surprise. The incident occurred not too long ago when Miss Uhura was singing in the recreation hall, and First Officer Soundjaw was present. After listening for a few seconds, he easily joined as a bass partner in a duet of the piece. Once finished, he actually revealed that before the Great War, as all the Cybertronians call it, he had studied to become a musician in the Cybertronian theaters of the capital city of Iacon.

All of them have had lives before the warfare, that tore their world apart, took that away from each of them. Hitch was in both architecture and construction of varying types, Depthfeather was studying phenomena native to his home planet and understanding mysterious areas such as one called 'The Sea of Rust,' and Sub-Commander Aurora herself was in fact a part-time flight instructor of other SEEKERS, the rest of her time she used conducting deep space charting to find potential colony worlds.

According to Soundjaw and Hitch, she's rumored to have actually visited Earth before the Cybertronian Civil War. Wouldn't that be the greatest of ironies? To know that you've seen a world twice in key points of its history? Once when it was a molten mass, then again shortly after you had jettisoned the life-giving power of your very home with no set destination in mind. Only to discover it again, on a very world you once classified as uninhabitable. What are the odds? -

Kirk looked up from his desk, as he finished the recording he had made just as Spock walked in.

"Spock."

Kirk nodded in greeting to him, but then looked at him with a raised brow when Spock simply sat down, without even uttering his customary greeting. His First Officer sat quietly across from him, the pinched look not leaving his face.

"Is something on your mind?"

Spock nodded.

"Yes Captain, I have just had a rather edifying conversation with Sub-Commander Aurora over a game of chess."

Kirk couldn't help but laugh as he leaned back in his chair.

"I trust you didn't beat her too badly Spock. She has been asleep for Bones' knows how long."

Kirk's laugh dropped to a chuckle until he looked over at Spock who was still focused on the doorway. Kirk stopped his laughter as he sat forward to look at his friend.

"Spock, you didn't beat her that badly did you?"

Now he was only slightly worried, after all Sub-Commander Aurora didn't have to speak to anyone about her people's knowledge. But he was only slightly worried, after interacting with her and observing her behavior toward his crew, he didn't think her the type to dwell on something as petty as a chess game. Spock finally looked over to him, though he still seemed concentrated on something in his mind.

"On the contrary Captain. It was she that bested me. Quite soundly too."

Kirk sat back in stunned shock. To beat Commander Spock of the Federation at chess, was the same as to face an adversary hellbent on their destruction. Kirk had only managed to beat Spock three times, and that was questionable. For her to do so, and 'soundly,' at that. Just who was Sub-Commander Aurora?

"Sub-Commander Aurora presents as a highly intelligent woman and certainly backs up that presentation by being able to not only discuss, but prove what have thus far been considered only theories by my people. I can only imagine what Cybertron once was in its Golden Age, when there was an entire race of her kind. Living simply to explore and compete against each other good-naturedly. I believe our Federation may one day meet that state, if we were to learn from Sub-Commander Aurora and her kind all they have to offer us."

Kirk nodded as he listened, the Federation would indeed benefit from all that her kind had to offer them. He noticed the look still present on Spock's face and felt his own brows dip.

"There's more to it isn't there?"

Spock nodded as he resumed staring a hole through the door.

"She described the history of what led to her people's Civil War. It was while she was doing so that I noticed her body language and tone."

Kirk rested his chin on his hands.

"You think she's hiding something from us?"

Spock shook his head, as he reached for the wall mounted communicator and began punching in the channels for the senior officers of the ship.

"No Jim, I know she is."
