irosokuyammamoto: There will be some. Interesting conflicts in this story, as for Marley... Let's say they'll play a crucial part in the fate of Paradis.

An now, here's the story!

The face of disbelief the little lord had was priceless. Kenny would've kept grinning if it wasn't for the fact that Uri was staring at him at that moment, the Ackerman tried his best to remain serious for the rest of the affair.

He looked at the so-called royal government, "A bunch of useless pompous cunts" he thought with disdain, before he was the ripper, he was a brother, a son and a grandson who wanted to protect his family yet men such as them decided to hunt down his family just to keep the truth of the walls a secret.

He committed some fucked up stuff in the past but he wasn't a complete monster like them, or at least he wanted to believe his actions were justified. The group showed no emotion regarding the decision of the King, their faces remained neutral as if wondering their next move or so, Kenny knew these 'men' liked to scheme and plot against everyone for the sake of their fortune, something he considered disgusting.

The other group in the room, the Royal family, however, reacted quite different. Little pig and his wife were enraged beyond reason, he wondered if their face cheeks would explode since they were a red colour he didn't know existed until now.

The lucky gal, Frieda was staring at her cousin, the boy who thirty minutes ago was confident he would become king. Her brother, Urklyn was trying to talk to her but she didn't listen, she was focused on the little lord.

The other two brats, Abel and Dirk were confused, they probably were too stupid to understand the situation but the reaction of their family seemed to worry them. Kenny was sure if it wasn't for little Florian sleeping on her mother's arms, Rod and Elissa would've screamed their heads off towards the king.

"Kenny."

Everyone focused on the king once more, the man rose from his seat with a letter in hand, his official seal upon it. "As the person of my choosing to deliver this decree, I want you to take this letter to the capital and make sure these words are known to the people." he stretched out his hand and left the letter hanging in the air, Kenny approached him and he took the letter into his hands.

"Known to who?" Kenny asked.

"To every one of course, from the highest members of society to the low classes who know how to read, it's time Paradis knows who is the true ruler of the walls," Uri stated and everyone, included himself and those pigs were befuddled.

Uri turned his gaze towards the government, the most stoic group now seemed lost for words."I know my decisions may seem sudden and confusing but I assure you, this is all for the good of the realm and my niece will--"

"For the good of the realm." Another voice interrupted Uri, it was his son. Who was back from his mental breakdown and now was enraged, Kenny wanted to laugh, the situation surely got fun and he was looking forward to the little lord's tantrum.

"Excuse me, child?" The king asked, turning his head to look at Blake.

"No... I don't think I'll excuse you, father." The boy challenged and Kenny was impressed by how the little lord made the word Father sound like an insult. "I've studied since I was six, the code of laws to which the walls follow to work as a society. I've read books of history until my migraines caught up to me, I trained with that man as you commanded me." He briefly pointed at the Kenny and looked back at his father.

"And what do I get in return? I'm summoned here, before my own family and the royal government, to be humiliated and disinherited by my father..." Kenny could swear he saw the brat wanting to continue, but then those last words came from a pained and broken boy, his voice was hoarse and his eyes were filling with tears.

"I apologise for my son's reckless behaviour." The king spoke, staring at his son but speaking to everyone but him. "He spoke without thinking, something he usually does and one of the reasons why he wasn't chosen."

The little lordwalked so fast towards the king Kenny thought for a moment he would've hit Uri, Kenny instinctively took a step forward, placing himself between the father and son and blocking the brat for taking any other step."Back off little lord." Kenny warned but the boy ignored the threat at that moment.

"Kenny, it's alright," Uri assured him, moving his head to the side so Kenny would move. "Frieda is the best choice." He sighed. "She's more calm, reserved and cautious." The boy looked at Frieda and for a moment Kenny could see actual hatred in his eyes, the girl, on the other hand. Flinched and looked away with a frown, Kenny caught a glimpse of Rod who was also giving Blake and Uri a nasty look.

"Things sure are going to get interesting once Uri is gone." Kenny thought. When the boy was done looking at his cousin he rushed to his father's side and muttered angrily. Kenny heard some of the words they exchanged but not all of them.

"I wish... that's why... Frieda... it's mine... mother..." The boy spoke.

"Ungrateful... regret... she's... paradise... don't you dare..." Uri retorted with anger. The boy was going to continue his argument but the pale and emotionless purple eyes of Uri suddenly sparkled and he felt some sort of energy flow through the king. He slammed his fist into the desk and raised his voice.

"Enough! I have spoken and there's nothing you can do about it boy, think of my acts as you will and make the best out of it." The king bellowed and leaned on his desk tiredly.

The little lord stared and withdraw into taciturn silence, he then threw up his hands and left the room. As he made his way out Frieda called out to him but he didn't listen." Blake! Wait!"

He ignored her completely and left. The now soon to be Queen looked at the king and made bowed albeit clumsily. "By your leave, your highness."

He looked at his niece and nodded, she waited no more and left in haste, with Urklyn doing the same bow and asking for permission to leave.

"I believe you've seen enough today, you're free to go children.." Uri said to his family. Abel and Dirk wanted to follow their eldest brother and sister but their mother refrained them from doing so. "Frieda and Urklyn will talk to your cousin, you two are coming with me."

"But mother..." They said in unison but the look she gave them made clear it wasn't up to discuss, they dropped their heads in defeat and walked alongside their mother. "Rod?" She turned to see her still a furious husband. "Are you coming?"

"Later..." he replied, not even looking at her, whatever he wanted to say to Uri wasn't going to be pretty so she quickly took her children with her and left.

"Farewell my lords, I believe you have a long and tiresome trip back to the capital." Uri dismissed the Royal government in a quickly and some would say 'rude' way. But if they were offended by it, they didn't say it and instead took their leave.

Kenny had seen enough as well and he preferred to go to the capital and deliver Uri's letter as soon as possible, as he made his way to the door he stopped when the king addressed him.

"Stay Kenny."

He did as he was told. Rod looked at him with disgust and let out a snort that sounded more like a squeak pigs make when they're angry. "Is this your new game, brother?" Rod asked. "Making your dog listen to our private conversations?" Kenny wanted to quickly make a retort but Uri spoke first.

"Kenny is here because judging by the look you gave to my son and me a moment ago, you could do or say anything harmful towards me or him right now." The king said icily, giving his brother a stern look.

"Oh please, do you think I'm capable of something like that? When it's you who have been hurting our family, I've got to give you credit brother, I've never seen a man humiliate and hurt his son like you did today." Rod snarled, through gritted teeth he waited for his brother's response.

"It seems it's in the blood then." The king countered. "If my memory doesn't fail me, you wanted that girl to abort your bastard, then when she had her you've sent the two away."

Kenny simply stood there in uneasy silence. The first 15 minutes or so of the meeting when Uri announced his decision was amusing, but this fight between the two brothers was completely fucked up and uncomfortable. This family was broken beyond repair, he was robbed from his family in the past but he deeply cared about his grandfather and tried to search for his sister. Yet these two were tearing each other apart. And the fights would be passed down onto their children.

"I'm surprised you can even recall my other daughter, with madness plaguing your mind I wasn't sure if you truly realize the consequences of your actions... And now..." Rod paused for a moment. He took a deep breath and his voice was less agitated. "You want to condemn my daughter to inherit your madness and delusional ideas."

Uri didn't reply right away, instead, he sat once again in his chair and rubbed his temples, both Rod and Kenny were expectant of his answer. "She'll... Understand, my son wouldn't. And that's why she'll be a great queen." Was his only response, Rod flinched as if he was shot and his mouth moved numerous times trying to come up with something to say.

At last, he gave the king a pained and defeated smile."You just destroyed this family Uri... I hope you know that."

Uri looked up to see his brother. He let out a sigh and tiredly covered his face. As if Uri had read Kenny's thoughts, he replied "This family is cursed... Always has been."

Or maybe he did read his thoughts. That power was one of a god.

The rest of their talking continued without further outbursts. Rod left in silence not long after. Uri didn't say anything to him, he just sat there in the darkness of the room, as the sun came down and the night was close. Kenny could only see Uri's face partially what glowed in the dark, however, were his unnerving purple eyes.

"Kenny... What's on your mind?" the King asked and Kenny thought for a second before making a reply, Uri suddenly went from a pacifist calm man to a full stern monarch.

"I uh..." Kenny wasn't sure where to begin "What happened Uri? You're not like this."

"What do you mean?" Uri inquired, raising a brow at Kenny's statement.

"The Uri I know only talks about some paradise for everyone, how we're all sinners and shit..." Kenny clarified for him. "I won't say I didn't enjoy this evening cause I certainly have. But... Don't you think you went a little overboard with your family? Especially the little lord."

Uri mused and grabbed his chin deep in thought he was certainly considering his friend's words at least.

"The boy is like his mother, same dark blue eyes that spark with emotion every time he talks, his wavy blonde hair it's the same as his mother's too." The king recalled with a gentle smile. Kenny only snorted in response.

"And quite dramatic too, I'll never understand what you saw in that woman."

"I was foolish and young., Uri explained. "And... She did have a fire within her, she was passionate and bold..."Uri rambled with that foolish smile of his, but Kenny couldn't help but feel some happiness for his friend, although he didn't openly show it.

"I've never seen you like this before you know..." Kenny said, Uri stopped thinking about his wife and looked at him confused.

"How?"

"Happy, even if it's just because of a memory." It wasn't like those times when the king talked about creepy stuff. At that moment his emotions seemed simple and genuine.

"I've been too busy these years I barely have time to think about my family..." The king said but looked conflicted. Kenny knew well the reason behind that reaction but he wouldn't press his friend further and Kenny would only listen or give advice if he was asked for it.

"Oh, goddess... Kenny did I...Did I make the right choice? It pained me to no end to hurt everyone like that and Blake..."

Kenny paused for a moment and then shrugged. "I never really had a family so I wouldn't know what to tell you."

Uri gave him a pained frown a nodded. "Yes, I know my family took that away from you, but you had a sister and a nephew if I remember correctly."

Kenny thought of little Levi, the corpse of his sister rotting and his nephew on the verge of death that day. He closed his eyes for a moment and saw the expression Levi gave him when he abandoned him. When he opened them he saw an expectant Uri waiting for his answer.

But what he was supposed to say? He wasn't a family man. "I don't like most of your family and you know that Uri., Kenny said. "But I believe they'll get over it."

"It's for the best., Uri said once again as if trying to convince himself of his decision. He looked to the side, where the empty couch was and his stare was one of fear and anxiety. He stared deeply at that couch."Has he gone so mad, he's afraid of couches now?" The Ackerman thought amused. The look Uri had was like if someone else was in the room with them or maybe he was just hallucinating.

"What's wrong?" Kenny asked impatiently.

"N-nothing, Regardless of how they may have taken it, I need you to keep things in order after I'm gone, Frieda is mature beyond her years but she's inexperienced when it comes to politics. Blake is hot-headed and quick to take offence but he's also strong and determined... Not a good combination I'm afraid. The rest of my nephews and nieces are more controllable but they won't stay like that forever and Rod is... "

"Rod is a cunt." Kenny finished for him and Uri chuckled while shaking his head.

"Rod will certainly make things far more challenging and entertaining for you. There's still the matter of his mistress and my other niece Historia and let's not forget about my sister in law."

Kenny let out a deep sigh and facepalmed "You're not even dead yet and I'm already exhausted."

"Is your age finally catching up to you?" Uri teased with a grin. And Kenny couldn't help but return the gesture.

"I envy you, you're about to bite the dust while I'm stuck here, about to babysit your family."

Uri's smile flattened a little but he didn't change his mood. "I trust no other man but you for such task. Now go, You have a trip to the capital to take and you can't be late... We'll talk later Kenny."

He mentally groaned when his friend reminded him that he had to go to deliver the stupid letter, but he complied nonetheless and nodded.

"As you command Uri."

When he went out the moon already came out, he preferred it that way, travelling at night was more comfortable for him. He prepared his horse but before he was ready to go someone called out to him.

"Kenny, I'm going with you." The Ackerman let out a groan and turned to see the little pig, Rod wearing one of the many fancy outfits he had. If Kenny didn't know better, he was going to see his mistress again.

"You're not supposed to come with me,"Kenny said, trying to play dumb but it seemed Rod didn't buy it.

"I have a meeting with someone," Rod explained. "I'm going with you because the meeting it's close to the capital."

Kenny gave a firm nod and got on his horse, he waited for Rod but the Reiss patriarch climbed into the carriage. "Get on the driver's seat Kenny, I'm not in the mood of riding my horse tonight."

"More likely you can't even climb the horse you piece of shit." Kenny snarled bitterly inside his head.

They took their leave, with Kenny playing the role of the driver once more, and he was getting rather sick of it, once Uri was gone Frieda would most likely use him like that or a steward.

He didn't say a single word to Rod during the journey and the Reiss seemed to prefer it that way. Halfway there, however, Rod made a sudden command.

"Stop here," Rod commanded, in the middle of nowhere, Kenny stopped the carriage and Rod climbed down. Kenny eyed him carefully and decided that some innocent jokes could light up the mood.

"Why here Roddy? This is not Alma's bed." He grinned as the Reiss walked in front of him, he quickly pulled out a gun and pointed at the Ackerman.

"This spot shall mark your grave, should you decide to carry out my brother's order." Rod threatened and Kenny's grin was replaced with a scowl.

"Climb down Kenny."

"Oh come on," Kenny complained, to be honest, the day had so many surprises this wasn't amusing anymore, it was getting tedious. "Is this how you treat a humble servant? No wonder why your family is--"

Before he could finish the sentence, a bullet impacted beside him, the horses got agitated and Kenny's playfulness faded and was instead his bloodlust began to emerge. He titled his head and waited. "I won't say it twice."

It was the last straw, Kenny jumped at an almost inhuman speed and pounced Rod, quickly taking the gun. The short man let out a grunt as he hit the ground and Kenny placed his knife between Rod's teeth.

"You have balls but no brains Rod," Kenny growled. "What's stopping me from cutting off your cock and feed you with it?"

Rod let out a muffled moan since the knife between in his mouth didn't allow him to talk, Kenny removed the knife just enough to hear the man.

"If you kill me, my family won't stop until the last of the Ackermans are eliminated from this world." Rod tried his hardest to sound intimidating but Kenny was unfazed, pressing the knife deeper into his mouth it seemed like he was ready to stick the whole knife inside Rod's mouth.

"A little bit late Reiss, most of the Ackerman clan is already dead. Don't think I won't kill ya, nothing would please me more than to put you down like the rabid animal you are."

Rod gathered all the strength he could and slowly but surely began to push the knife out of his mouth, Kenny, however, was just letting him do it, he wanted to hear what he had to say.

"Give me the letter Kenny, you know I only want to save my daughter," Rod begged.

"You just want your nephew to take the power so you live with the certainty that he will keep your ass safe, you don't give a fuck about any of them." Kenny slowly got up, not taking his eyes off the Reiss, Rod got up to his feet and rubbed his bloody mouth.

"It's what he wants, and what my wife and I want is to keep our children safe, it's a favourable situation for all," Rod explained as he put his hat back on but Kenny remained unconvinced, no matter how much Rod talked, the Ackerman wasn't going to disobey Uri.

"I won't give you shit Rod, but tell you what... Your daughter inherits Uri's power, she becomes queen and I'll lend you a hand for the first year of her reign, if she proves to be a successor worthy of Uri I'll stay around for the rest of her years." Kenny offered and waited for his response.

" And if she doesn't? " Holy shit, Rod was actually considering it. He immediately proved how full of shit Rod was.

" I'll leave you to clean up her mess, I ain't staying on a sinking boat," Kenny said, in reality, he would kill them all should the girl fail to keep things smooth as Uri did. He wasn't completely heartless. Kenny was willing to give them an opportunity.

"Why would you help us, Kenny? You just held me with a knife on my mouth and you expect me to believe this?" Rod crossed his arms and waited for an explanation.

"You were the one who started it. And I'll be honest with you, I don't like you or your family for that matter but maybe a heavy crown upon Frieda's head, political enemies now knowing who is the true power in the walls and the little lord going rogue will change you and your children for the better. One thing is certain, a period of unrest will follow the next year and I can't wait to start slicing throats and chopping off heads."

Rod didn't answer, instead, he approached the ripper and to his surprise, offered his hand for a handshake."I need your word Ackerman, should you continue to serve us faithfully, I will do everything in my power for my family to live up to Uri's legacy."

Kenny didn't want to shake the little pig's hand, who knows where it's been but he had successfully convinced the man to let things follow it's natural course. He welcomed the gesture and firmly shook Reiss's hand.

Once their little argument was solved Rod asked Kenny to return him his pistol and they got back to the carriage, as expected. His destination was simple and predictable. "Take me to the Lenz's family farm please."

At least he had the courtesy to say please, perhaps Kenny should attack Rod more often.

When they arrived Rod eagerly climbed down and gave some final words to the Ackerman. "I want your most utter discretion about this, Kenny."

"Yeah yeah just go in there and have some fun Rod, don't knock her up again though. Another one of your... Uh... accidents, would fuck things up" Kenny tried advice without sarcasm but Rod's inexpressive face proofed he failed spectacularly.

"In a few days, you'll serve my daughter and me directly. Don't forget your place." And with that, he parted ways. Kenny gritted his teeth and wanted to murder the man right at the spot, but he refrained himself in time. He left the farm quickly and went to the capital.

As he was close to his destination he was already planning in advance what he was going to do, things were going rather well and that worried him to some extent. Many times things had gone great and then went south at the most important moments. But now he was truly dedicated to complete his mission and fulfil his dream.

Though there were some obstacles in the way. First, he had to get rid of Rod and his wife. Most importantly. Rod, Kenny was going to make sure the pig wouldn't outlive another king, or rather, queen.

Frieda was going to be eaten alive by politics and schemes so he just had to wait for the right time to take her out.

Then there was the biggest threat in his opinion. The little lord wasn't like Uri at all, he was unpredictable and unstable and he wouldn't just step down and accept defeat gracefully, no, he would fight to the bitter end and take what he considered was rightfully his. And if the brat took the power of kings before Kenny things would get complicated.

But these problems were for tomorrow and he was a man of action who only lived at the moment. Uri had claimed the era of peace was ending and war was coming. A war against titans? Or humans?

In Kenny's mind, both species were mindless monsters clinging to something to keep going. And soon, he would find a purpose greater than lust, family, greed or vengeance.

He just had to wait.
