Chapter 1
"Ron! Tell me what's going on right now!" yelled a tall, slim teenage girl with long red hair. She wore a pink crop top and navy joggers with white comfortable Vans. Currently, she was being dragged down the hall of Middleton High School by her best friend by the wrist.
"I'll tell you when we get there, KP!" exclaimed Ron excitedly, not pausing to cross the busy traffic flow moving slowly toward the lockers. They weaved in and out of other students on their phones or chatting or gossiping. Finally, when her hand started losing feeling, Ron came to a halt in front of her locker and threw it open immediately. "Wade! We're here! How bad is it?" he asked seriously, the deadpan expression catching her off guard.
"How bad is what?" she asked worriedly.
"It's bad," said a voice from inside her locker. She looked in and saw a plump boy in the computer monitor she kept there. Wade had short black and freckles. He almost always stayed in his room, surrounded by his various computer monitors and watched over her missions to protect the world from the various supervillains that tried to take it over. He'd graduated college at age 10 and knew how to hack into anything ever. Truly a gift on her missions.
Ron went hysterical. "What?! NOOOOO!" He slammed his head against the adjacent locker and repeated beat it several times. After a few moments, he looked back to Wade. "How much longer?"
Wade looked at another screen. "Only another hour probably."
"Kim, you gotta help!" Ron exclaimed, leaning up against the lockers, completely surrendered.
Kim looked to Wade. "What's going on? I actually thought this was urgent, Wade!"
The boy in the computer turned sheepish, putting a hand behind his head. "Well, he wanted me to check for how much longer a special at Bueno Nacho would be going on. It ends before you guys get out of school."
"Rufus, it's over! I can't go on!" Ron yelled, covering his face with an arm. A pink, naked mole rat poked out of his cargo pants' side pocket. He chittered sadly and disappeared back into the pocket.
Kim sighed, annoyed, and shut her locker door loudly. "You guys are so…so children!"
"Can't remember the last time you called him that," said someone from behind her. The newcomer was a dark-skinned Mexican girl with poofy, long, wavy black hair—almost an afro, and she kept it in hairbands all the time. She was wearing a cute yellow and green form-fitting T-shirt and tan cargo shorts.
"Monique!" Kim instantly wrapped her arms around the girl in a tight hug. "Yeah, well, they deserve it! They're upset about something Bueno Nacho."
Monique gasped and pulled away. "What's goin' on with Bueno Nacho?!"
"Oh no, not you, too!"
Ron answered the question first, still having his fit on the floor. "The new Nacho-rito special ends before we get out of school today!"
She gasped again, face filling with sadness. "You'll have to call me a child, too."
Kim moaned at her own luck and took her bag out of her locker, Wade still there watching the madness. "Oh, Kim, by the way," he added before she closed the door again, "I wanted to let you know about an energy reading I got earlier yesterday morning near the school."
Curious, she cocked her head. "What kind of reading?"
At this, his fingers started flying over the keyboard in front of him. "Crazy, insane reading! I couldn't match it to any energy type we know. It came in a split second like an explosion and, then, disappeared just as quickly."
She didn't know what to make of it. "I guess I'll check it out. Where was it?"
He shook his head. "I couldn't get an accurate lock on it since it was gone so fast, but the general area was Middleton High."
"Okay, thanks, Wade." As she shut her locker, she couldn't help feeling slightly confused, albeit curious. But, her thoughts were interrupted by a girl down the hallway squealing excitedly. A few more followed suit. "What's that all about?" she asked Monique, who'd gotten out of her state of sadness over Bueno Nacho.
"Don't know, girl," she answered, straining to see over the sea of heads turning in the direction of the screaming. "Whatever it is, it's comin' this way!" She pulled Kim out of the way just as the crowd parted, revealing a teenage boy.
A very, very, very attractive one.
Monique squealed, too. Kim began to blush and fidget.
The guy in particular paused when he saw the both of them. His brilliant emerald eyes flashed over them and a beyond charming smile spread upon his lips. He wore a button-up, long-sleeve white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbow and tan cargo slacks, and there was a brown bandana wrapped around his left bicep. There was a loosened plaid tie around his neck under the collar of his shirt, completing his appearance. His shoes were the normal tennis shoes—red with a white strap and golden buckle on the outside. There was a knapsack bag slung over his left shoulder. But, the detail that caught everyone's attention before anything else was his hair. It was a deep shade of bright blue. Like the ocean. Spiked in all directions but directed more backwards like the wind constantly pushed it back that way.
Kim felt Monique falling over and side-glanced her just in time to see that she was fainting, completely taken in by his appearance. Before she could do anything, Ron had jumped up and stopped her from hitting the floor. He didn't look too happy by the guy's charm on his friends.
He stepped forward and raised an accusing finger in the boy's face. "What do you think you're doing just walking in here all cool like that, huh?!"
The boy's eyes crossed to stare at Ron's finger almost touching his nose. The smile widened slightly.
"Ron, what are you doing?" whispered Kim nervously.
"Boy, this is almost like home," the boy said, smile remaining. He held up his hand to shake Ron's. "Name's Sonic. Nice to meetcha, Ron Stoppable."
Kim's face turned a darker shade of red. Even his voice was charming. She felt like squealing, too! But, she knew better. She'd fan-girl-ed over guys before, and things hadn't turned out the best in the end. For instance, the guy she took to the prom one night after dating for a month ended up being a synthetic robot sent to destroy her by Dr. Draken. He'd managed to get to her with quite some ease that time, and she swore to herself it wouldn't happen again. But, she paused when he said Ron's name.
Ron, however, stared from the guy's face to his hand and back again. Then, he shrugged, taking his hand and shaking, seemingly back in a good mood. "You got it, dude! Weird name, but how do you, like, know mine?"
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "TV. You too, Kim Possible. Nice to meetcha!" he said, eyes glinting in her direction. It was so hard to restrain herself from screaming. But, a new faces entered the scene and immediately threw her arms around Sonic's neck.
"There you are, sweety! I've been waiting for you for so long!" The girl's name is Bonnie Rockwaller, a Caucasian with brown short, straight hair and a lanky stature. She wore a purple turtleneck shirt with the sleeves rolled up to match his. Her designer jeans and shoes clearly expressed her rich background. Also, as the previous year's prom duchess, she's that bratty, gets whatever she wants, stereotypical girl. And, Kim's bitter cheer rival.
Sonic awkwardly put an arm around her and, then, pulled away. "Relax! I sleep in everyday, so don't get too worked up. Anyway, I need my schedule. Show me the way?" he asked, captivating mile showing again.
"Of course!" Bonnie said, taking his arm with the bandana around it and leading him down the hallway. A group of at least 20 girls followed at a distance. When the hallway fell to silence, Ron's gaze met Kim's, her blush fading rapidly.
"I guess he's cool," approved Ron, shoving his hands into his pockets. Rufus climbed his way up to Ron's shoulder and sat there, nodding enthusiastically. "Monique! He's gone now."
She stirred and put a hand to her head. Ron set her on her feet. "Wha-what happened?" she asked. Then, she remembered. "OMG! Where did he go?! That hair…" she added dreamily.
Kim shook her head out of her thoughts. "One thing's for sure, Bonnie's got him in her claws." After a moment, she drifted again. "Those eyes…his smile…Felt like—like…oh! I can't place it!"
"That's just how special he is, girl!" Monique squealed.
Ron slapped a hand over his face, having lost his friends to the new guy.
