"Shego! Where are you?" called a man with blue skin, a blue lab coat, and slicked black ponytailed hair. "I've made a breakthrough!" When no one responded, he stomped his foot and yelled louder. "Shego!"
"Ugh!" came the reply from somewhere above the man. "You know, someone across the world must have heard your yelling." A woman with flowing, poofy, glossy black hair, dressed in a green and black body suit landed on her feet in front of him with an expression of extreme annoyance plastered across her makeup-ed face.
The man groaned but popped up again in the best attitude she'd seen him in in months. He almost bounced over to the lab table on which rested an enormous beautifully cut gem.
"Where did ya find that thing again?" Shego asked, putting a still annoyed hand on her hip. "Suddenly, it has all your attention, and you only found it yesterday."
"Shego, you have no idea of its capabilities!" the man squealed excitedly, waving at the gem. "The power levels on this rock are outrageous! Do you know what we could do with power like this?"
When she didn't answer immediately, he glanced up in the midst of his glee to see her buffing her manicured nails. She noticed the silence and looked to him without an ounce of shame to see him waiting for her to start paying attention. "Sorry, Dr. D, you'll have to repeat every word, since you deafened me earlier."
Dr. D facepalmed, his moment of glory being spoiled by her sass. "I can finally destroy that bratty Kim Possible once and for all!"
"You just said the jinxed words," Shego said casually, returning to buffing her nails, "Now, it'll never work."
"Shego," he whined, his glee shattered by her heartless comment. "Have a little faith! This time, I can really do it!"
"How many times have you said that, and the opposite happened?"
"I'll show you! I show you, Shego! I will win this time and rule this world all for myself!"
"Keep telling yourself that," she said, waving a couldn't-care-less hand. "While you're exploring the rock, I'll be getting a manicure, so cya!"
"But, Shego! I've haven't told you half of what I found!"
It was pointless to try to call her back. She'd already disappeared out the door into the afternoon sun. Draken couldn't help but feel hurt. Sure, he had to deal with it 24/7 from her; it was practically a routine for her to make fun of his ideas to take over the world! Why did it hurt more this time than other times?
He leaned over the gem and stared at it for a long while, wondering about the depths of its secrets. Every few minutes, a blue laser grid lit up its surface, measuring its power levels. It scanned, maybe, 10 times before it suddenly began glowing before his eyes. The gem was reacting with something! But…what?
Reaching his hand out to touch the object, the glow lessened slightly. Upon contact, Draken couldn't even describe the feeling of the power flowing through him. It felt so good! Like new warm rays of sunshine on ice cold skin. It drifted through his veins and all throughout his body, making him feel ever brand new, as though he'd slept for days and woken up totally rejuvenated.
But, the moment his hand touched it, the gem's glow vanished. The feeling slowly faded, leaving Draken with a greater sense of accomplishment than ever in his life. How can I access this power? he wondered, caressing the surface of the rock. The laser grid appeared once more—the final reading for the power levels.
He had no words. No thoughts. Simply shock.
"Infinite"
How did this make sense? Nothing had infinite power reserves. Nothing was infinite in this world. Especially power. But…this gem. What was it? It looked like any normal, large gemstone. Yet…this power. Where did it come from?
A maniacal grin slowly spread across his face, as he realized the possibilities. He had never felt so confident of victory. He finally had a way to beat Kim Possible. He finally had a way to take over the world.
No one could match this power. And it was his. All his own.
The only problem…harnessing that power.
His hopes sunk slightly at the thought. He didn't even know what it was. How could he do anything like use its power?
Well, he wasn't an evil genius for nothing. The grin came back. He'd find a way. He always did. Eventually.
He set to work on brainstorming ideas to extract the gem's power…completely unaware that another genius had caught wind of the distress signal from the gem in question and had locked onto its location on the other side of the world.
