"I think... we lost him". Arisa said out of breath. Her hands on her knees. Tohru nodded turning around to make sure. "I'm scared". Momjii said running towards Kyo to seek comfort but froze midstep. Momjii stepped forward slightly, his arm extended. "Kyo?" Everyone's attention turned towards the too at momjii's voice noting the worry in his small voice. Kyo was leaning heavily against a tree as if he would fall over if he let go. His face was pale and covered in sweat, his eyes squeezed shut as if in pain. Tohru was the first one to head towards the orange haired boy. "Kyo... are you okay?". They all knew something was wrong. Even if they have been running for a while he shouldn't have looked so terribly and so out of breath. Kyo didn't respond, moving his arm slowly towards his quickly raced forward when he started to fall forward. She caught him just in time only to fall to the ground on her butt herself. Yuki and Haru raced forward and helped Kyo before he fell on top of her and transformed. "We need to get him out of this rain if he's sick". Hana said breaking the awkward silence. Yuki nodded, wrapping an unconscious Kyo's arm over his shoulder, a chill running down his spine at the sudden wetness against his side as he pulled Kyo closer. Haru grabbed Momjii into his arms. The poor rabbit zodiac shaking. Arisa looked around for some shelter when their luck soon ended as a familiar voice spoke up from behind them

They all froze. "You really thought you could outrun me?". "He's pissed" Hana said quietly, in her usual bland tone. Arisa and Hana quickly stood in front of Tohru protectively while Haru stepped in front of them all placing Momjii down beside Tohru who quickly wrapped her arms around him like a mom does her child. "What do you want?". Haru asked aggressively. Yuki's eyes widened. 'This was the worst time for Haru to go black'. He glanced over to Kyo frowning at how warm he felt. They needed to find a way to get away safely and get Kyo to Hatori. Something was clearly wrong. He was just grateful however Kyo hasn't transformed yet. The man simply laughed in response. His dark cold eyes boring holes into all of them. "I had to set the others free because you decided to run. Now I'm gonna simply kill you all".

Haru without warning jumped and attacked the man but the man just pushed him off and knocked him to the ground raising his gun straight at Yuki and Kyo. Yuki's eyes widened and he couldn't move. He tried at least to maneuver Kyo out of the way but his body just wouldn't allow him to move. He cursed before closing his eyes. He heard the gunshot ringing in the air and waited for the impact but it never came. He opened his eyes and they widened when he saw Kyo was standing right infront of him. Kyo turned his head slightly to look at him, his eyes glazed over. "You... alright... damn rat?". He asked weakly. Yuki didn't answer, feeling unable to. Before he could get a word out however Haru rushed over to them grabbing onto Kyo as he collapsed.

It was at that moment when Haru moved Kyo out of the way did he notice the man on the ground unconscious. A large tree branch lying not far away from his prone body. "Haru?". "Tohru is calling the cops. I'll call Hatori once we get out of here". Haru interrupted. Yuki didn't respond as he saw the blood oozing out of Kyo and onto the ground.

Sometimes I really question how much I enjoy my favorite characters suffering. The only fanfic I read are angst and if there's not enough of it then I'm left unsatisfied, maybe I'm just evil that way. Am I bothered by that? Well the answer to that question is no, I enjoy it too much to be bothered.

This is the start of a new fonding relationship between Yuki and Kyo. If you're caught up with the 2019 anime then you know about their past, I won't say anything just in case there's anyone reading here who hasn't yet. Before I go, Yes Haru knocked the man out with a large tree branch. I feel like his character would do something like that without hesitation or regret.
