Chapter 2

Traveling through the slip didn't take near as long as I thought it would have. I guess it was one of those mysteries of space travel. Coming out of the slip though was not fun, however.

My ship suddenly appeared way too close to the planet. Causing me to now play catchup so me and my droid wouldn't die coming through the atmosphere.

"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. R5, stabilize the thrusters we need to come to a stop." I yelled frantically over the alarms and dials going off. I got sass in beeps as a response.

"Don't give me that, or sell you as a hood ornament. We cant land yet the odds of us hitting water are too great. We will sinks if we don't burn up"

After what seemed like a lot less time than it was. We were finally able to stop my fighter around 10 feet above the water. Force, that could have gone better. Taking my helmet off I wiped my face clean of sweat, before I brought the fighter higher in the air.

"Well, now that we avoided needing a landing strategy. R5, pull up that map of Remnant I gave you."

A second later a holo map of the planet appeared in front of me. After studying it for a second I input the location of Patch. I wouldn't be able to use autopilot, due to the planet not being in the fighter's Navi computer but a least I had a GPS. I smiled, it took us the better part of the year to walk to Minstrel. Now I looked to be a few hundred miles south of the continent over the ocean. I could make it home in a day.

Pushing power to the thrusters I launched in the direction of Vale.

It was dark, around the middle of the night when I made it to the island I called home. I decided to put my fighter down, a few miles west of my house. I didn't want to wake anyone, and I would just take my time walking to my house to burn up the rest of the night.

After landing I cloaked the ship out of habit, put on my helmet, and grabbed my few belongings. Which were all in a small pack that I slung on my back. R5 and I then started to small trek through the woods.

As I walked through the wood I couldn't help but think about how my family was going to react. I had been gone for almost three years, what were they even doing. Also, how did the world change after the war, were Grimm still a problem? If so maybe my old job as a huntress was still an option.

These thoughts filled my brain as I made my way through the dark woods. I was only interrupted, by one pack of Beowolves, answering my question about Grimm. They didn't last long against me, however. Countless battles had done nothing to diminish my skills as a fighter, if anything I had never been in better shape. R5 did not however like the Grimm. Running and hiding in the trees as soon as they appeared.

Silly droid.

It was just becoming dawn when we reached the house. I walked around the house for a second, dads truck seemed to be missing so he probably wasn't here. I didn't know about Yang however since she lost bumblebee in Minstrel. I shook my head, deciding I would just let myself in I had a key after all.

Wait a key? I had lost my key years ago.

Cursing, I told R5 to wait as I walked around to the back of the house went up to the back door. Reaching down I grabbed a stone off the ground and brake in half. Inside the stone, I found a key good to know that hadn't changed. Smiling underneath my helmet, I unlocked to back door.

I walk into the back of the house to find a bedroom? I guess the family did some renovations. Looking around I saw the room to be large enough to be the master. With two dressers on one side and a large bed in the center pushed up against the back wall. What I saw in the bed, made me glad I was no longer innocent. At the same time, the sight may me smile.

In the bed was my sister and Blake Belladonna.

Time doesn't stop it seems, I closed the door behind me quietly before exiting the room through the door that led to the rest of the house. I would let them sleep. I could wait.

As I walked through the house I saw that there had indeed been some renovations. The house had now a more open floor plan, with a larger living space and kitchen. There was still a second story, with stairs leading up. I didn't go up them, deciding to stay on the bottom floor.

I walked along the walls looking at the new and old pictures that hung on them. There were pictures of me and yang as children, a Wedding picture of Ren and Nora not to mention Yang and Blake. There was a couple of the team at some events, fancy and casual, all with what looked like a sober Uncle Crow. It looked like they were living a good life.

I stop at one of the pictures, it was of Blake in a hospital bed holding a baby. With a full head of luscious Raven hair and cat ears.

"She had a kid," I said quietly, the feeling of tears starting to well in my eyes.

How much had I missed, and how much would I have missed if I hadn't made through the slip. Yang, Blake were parents, I was an aunt. Not to mention the others, were Ren and Nora parents? How was Wiess, what was Juane doing these days? Was Dad and Uncle Crow still teaching? I had missed so much.

I wasn't going to miss anymore.

"Who, are you?" I jumped a little at the voice. Turning a saw a little girl no older than ten, staring up at me. Wait, ten that didn't make sense I was only gone three years. Wait the slip, it must have slowed time. Inside the slip, time must have gone by quicker than it did here.

"Are you a robber?" I heard the girl ask again, her eyes flashing red.

Shit!

"No sweety I'm no….." I didn't finish my sentence as I heard a loud boom felt something hit the center of my chest plate sending me flying through the window behind me.

Painfully sitting up from the crater I had made in the yard. I looked up to see Yang wrapped in a blanket, her prosthetic arm chambering another round. As she followed me out the window.

"I don't know who you are, but you should know that cops don't come out this far. Also, you signed your death warrant breaking into my house, and threaten my kid." She fumed literally, her eyes red and hair flaming.

"NO, NO you got it wrong Yang it's me," I said standing as fast as I could, Force, she hit like a Mud-Horn now. This didn't seem to slow her down as she launched another shot. Causing me to dodge. As thick-headed as ever.

"ME, WHO I DON'T KNOW A PERSON NAMED ME" She yelled firing more shots.

"FORCE YANG IT'S ME, RUBY," I yelled back dancing around her shots. I received more shooting as a response to my statement.

"YOU REALLY THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA! COMING HERE AND CLAIMING TO BE MY DEAD SISTER!" She roared through a renewed hellfire of bullets.

I danced and dodge, doing everything I could no to get hit. This was not going how I thought it would. Hows was I supposed to convince her I was who I said was. Then it donned on me I was still wearing my helmet. I really was an idiot sometimes.

Drawing my blasters I sent a bolt at her prosthetic arm, causing the arm to melt and become useless. I would need to fix that later. My sister, however, just froze with my blasters now trained on her. She was still seething, but at least I got her to stop and consider another plan of attack.

"YANG, PLEASE JUST LET ME SHOW" I yelled tears threatening once again to flow, hoping she would take the bait. "Please, I am Ruby Rose. I attend Beacon two yearly. My team was team RWBY, Ruby Rose, Wiess Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao Long. I was trained by my uncle, Crow Branwen, to wield a scythe."

"That's public information, my sister was only the biggest hero from Salem War. You could have gotten that info anywhere." She yells trying to get her arm to work again. At least she wasn't trying to hit me yet.

"Then what about all the times you read me stories. Or made me cookies and fed me strawberries. Or the night when you found me asleep on Mom's grave in the middle of a snowstorm. Where you carried me back here only to get sick for a month after." the tears flowing down my face underneath my helmet. That memory made her stop, she looked shocked scared even.

Reaching up slowly, I removed my helmet, her look turned to tears as she covered her mouth.

"It's me, Yang, I'm home," I said tears flowing, but an unstoppable smile plastered my face.
