STORY/ SCENARIO: In the dead of winter, a mother Lugia* sings a lullaby in an attempt to send her frightened baby to sleep.

VARIATIONS: I have used the first 8 bars only of The Guardian's Song from Pokemon: The Movie 2000 to create this lullaby, which I envisage being sung either either a capella or with a very simple accompaniment. For this reason I have chosen to base the song on the flute and ocarina arrangements of the melody from the early part of the movie rather than the longer orchestral version heard towards the end.

Though the day has scarred you,
Now the stars gleam coldly.
Sleep, and I will guard you;
Softly dream, and boldly.

High's the moon suspended,
Silver shadows throwing.
Autumn now is ended;
Soon it will be snowing.

Like a snowflake, flutter
Into sweet unreason,
And some tidings mutter
Of a kinder season.

Swift the night Eternal
Time herself devours,
Till on warm winds vernal
Wafts the scent of flowers.

Safe beneath my pinions,
Weave your mind's own story:
Through those dark dominions
Find your path to glory.

*Yes, I know Lugia can't breed in the games. But in the Anime, one did.
