Charlie Bartholomew Jackson(16): about 5'11, with grey eyes, and blond, shaggy hair, face similar to Percy's

Sophia Silena Jackson(14 ½): about 5'3, with green eyes, and black, curly hair, face similar to Annabeth's

They landed in a forest clearing on what Charlie assumed was Long Island. They hit the ground hard as Mrs. O'Leary dropped them. He looked around frantically as if trying to find their parents.

"No, no, no, NOOoo! Why did you do that?!" he yelled at the hellhound. She just whimpered sadly, laid down, and put her head on her paws. He immediately felt bad.

He sighed. "I'm sorry girl, I know you were just doing what you were told." she seemed to be a bit better after that.

Charlie looked around. They had landed in a small clearing. There was snow on the ground and some frost on the trees.

Sophia was on the ground with tears shining in her eyes, fighting hard to keep them from falling. He felt tears well up in his own eyes and let them fall.

They stayed like that for a minute until he managed to get a hold of himself. He wiped his eyes and sniffed his nose before getting up and saying, "We should go. It's not safe here." Sophia nodded numbly and got up.

They left Mrs. O'Leary in the clearing, telling her they'll be back later. They grabbed their bags and began walking towards camp half-blood. Or at least where they thought camp half-blood was. They felt somewhat drawn in this direction. So that's where they went.

"You remember the protocol, right?" Charlie asked his sister after a while.

"Hm? Oh, yeah… I guess." she replied dejectedly. Charlie frowned. That tone was unlike his sister. She was usually kind of bubbly, excited, and full of energy. This other side of his sister is one he rarely saw. Sophia was a lot like their father. She felt like them getting… taken from them… was her fault.

He thought about what happened for a while as they walked. While he was thinking, he noticed a change. The air felt different. Before, the air was cold and crisp. Now the air felt… warmer?

He decided to bring this up to Sophia. "Hey, do you feel that?"

she looked at him. She looked around. "Yeah, and look at the ground." he did. Then he looked again. There was no more snow on the ground.

"That's right!" He exclaimed. She looked at him. "Remember what dad told us?" he asked her. When she stared at him blankly, he continued, "Dad told us that the camp has borders that keep out most weather."

Recollection flashed in her eyes. "Oh right! I forgot about that."

Charlie chuckled. "Clearly." Sophia started chuckling too. Then they started laughing. By the time they emerged from the trees, they were in hysterical laughter.

Several nearby campers looked at them in confusion. Then, one of them seemed to realize we'd never been there before. She walked up to us.

"Hi! I'm Olivia," she said excitedly. Sophia's face lit up.

"Hi! I'm Sophia." She held out her hand but Olivia shook her head.

"Nope! No handshakes. I'm a hugger." she stated proudly. Sophia gladly opened her arms for a hug. After they pulled apart, she turned to charlie.

"And who are you?" she asked him.

"Charlie. I am not a hugger," he told her, holding out a hand. She frowned but shook it anyway.

"So… welcome to camp half-blood. Let me take you to Chiron. This way." she said, walking in the direction of a large house. They follow her. As they got closer, they could see a man in a wheelchair and a man in a leopard print jacket playing a card game.

As they walked up the steps, Charlie heard the end of a conversation.

"I'm telling you, there is something stirring." The man in the wheelchair said.

The other man brushed it off. "So what? Nothing's happened yet."

The man in the wheelchair got angry. "You can't just-"

Olivia interrupted them. "Hey, Chiron! There are some new campers here!" she stated, louder than needed.

Both men turn to the children. Chiron's face lit up when he saw them. "Ah, yes! Welcome to camp half-blood. I am Chiron, the activities director. This is camp director Dionysus, or Mr. D."

"Hi. I'm Charlie, and this is my sister, Sophia."

He smiled at them. "A pleasure to meet you. Now, Olivia, will you please show them the orientation video."

Olivia nodded and gestured for them to follow her. They walked into a somewhat dark room, and she put on a video. Charlie didn't really pay attention to the video until they started talking about the second titan and giant wars.

Sophia also seemed interested in this part. The video talked about how Percy Jackson fought against the titans and later the giants. It talked about the seven, the Argo II, and their parents falling into Tartarus.

The video also talked about the trials Apollo had to go through in order to regain his godhood and save the world. The video concluded by informing them that the titan Bob and giant Damasen were rescued by Nico Di Angelo and his then-boyfriend, Will Solace.

Charlie looked at his sister. "You heard that last part too… right?" she nodded and he closed his eyes. "What should we do about it? What if they smell us and are reminded of our parents?"

She shook her head. "I don't know. We'll just have to cross that bridge when we come to it." he rolled his eyes. He was like their mother, and she was like their father.

They walk outside and see Chiron and Mr. D are still there." oh you're done. So, do you need anything? A bag, some proof, anything?"

Charlie shook his head. "No. This actually explains a lot. My dad always told me my mom wasn't around because she had work to do far away, and I have gotten kicked out of a lot of schools in my life. Then there are the weird people with weapons that nobody else seems to notice but us." He said, gesturing to himself and his sister.

Chiron nodded. "That makes sense for someone of your age. Have you been claimed yet?"

Charlie shook his head. "Alright. Well, you should be claimed within the week. Until then, you can reside in cabin 11. Olivia, if you would show them to their cabin." With that, he smiled and turned back to his game.

"This way. While we go, I can give you a small tour." Olivia said excitedly. While they walked, they passed by a few campers.

"Where are all the people?" Sophia asked.

"At home, mostly. Some are staying in New Rome with friends, and a few are on a quest." Olivia replied.

"Quests?" Charlie asked, trying to play dumb. He knew what quests were, his father had told him, but if he looked like he knew too much then it would look suspicious.

"Like missions. I think this one was to retrieve some magical object from some monsters. Lately, the monsters have been getting bolder. Attacks come more often, they use magical artifacts more often, and they even seem to be organized by something."

she continued to list off weird things the monsters have been doing, but Charlie wasn't listening anymore. His mind was still stuck on that last point. "They even seem to be organized by something." what could it mean? Chrysaor also talked about a "master" what could it all mean?'

He was shaken from his thoughts by Sophia. "We're here." he looked up and saw, sure enough, they had arrived at the Hermes cabin.

Olivia knocked on the door. A somewhat overweight kid opened the door. "Hey, Olivia! What's up?"

Olivia smiled. "Hey, Marcus! I brought you some new campers. They haven't been claimed yet."

He nodded in understanding. "Got it. Come on in, and we'll introduce you to everyone who's here." he turned and went inside and Charlie and Sophia followed him. Inside, were 3 more kids. Two of them looked almost identical and the third looked similar to Marcus.

"Hey Marcus, who was that?" the oldest asked. He was about 5'7, kinda skinny, and had blond hair.

"New campers. They haven't been claimed yet, so they'll be staying with us until they do." they nodded like this was something that happened often. Based on what his father had told him, Charlie guessed that it probably was.

He moved over to an open bunk and set down his backpack. Sophia did the same with the one next to his. "So, what are your names?" Marcus asked.

Charlie made introductions, and the Hermes kids followed suit. The twins were Dylan and Derrick, and the skinny one was Daniel.

"Big fan of D names here I see." Charlie joked. He was rewarded with chuckles from the boys.

"Yep. that's us, the D cabin!" Marcus retorted. They all laughed, except for Sophia, who didn't seem to be paying attention.

Daniel seemed to notice that Sophia wasn't joining them in their laughter. "Hey, Charlie, what's up with her?" Charlie looked over and winced.

"We just lost our parents earlier. I'm just better at compartmentalizing. I get that from my mother. She takes after our father." Charlie told them.

They nodded. "Lost my parents to a monster attack," Marcus said.

"I don't have a good relationship with my parents. Especially my step-dad." Daniel looked sad as he said this. "My own fault really. Couldn't keep my hands to myself. Constantly swiping things from other people."

Charlie didn't know what to make of that. "Should I be worried about my stuff?" he asked jokingly.

Daniel chuckled humorlessly. "No. Since coming here, I've gotten better. Some of the older campers helped me get it under control."

"So why don't you go back?" Charlie asked.

Daniel looked away. "I don't know." it got quiet after that. Eventually, Charlie broke the silence.

"Well, I'm going to bed." he laid back on the bunk and pulled up the covers. He closed his eyes, and eventually fell asleep, his eyes wet with unshed tears.
