Miko and Monk

Chapter 12

The duo got ready and made their way downstairs to have breakfast. The atmosphere was quiet but tense.

Ami spoke up to break the tension "Miroku are you feeling better?"

Breaking out of his thought "yes I am Ami-san. I just need to make sense of this dream. It could be the key to remembering what happened to us."

"Don't let it consume you. At least it could be a start. Ok?" Ami got up to start clearing the table.

"I'm done eating mama. I'm off to practice" as Souta ran out thru the door with his soccer ball.

"Be careful dear." Ami called out from the kitchen.

"I am off as well. I am meeting Sato-san in the park to play some chess. I will be back this afternoon." grandpa waves going out the door.

"I have to go as well. I promised Mrs. Yamagachi that I would help her with the twins today, so she can get some rest. Being a new mom isn't easy especially with two babies. What do you two have planned today since its Sunday?" mama was getting her purse.

"We were going to do some more research today. Maybe go to the library. What do you think, Miroku?" Kagome picked up the remaining dishes.

Snapping out of his thoughts. "Yes, that sounds like a good idea."

"Make sure you lock up if you're going out. I will be back this afternoon. It looks like both of you have the entire house to yourselves." Ami walks to the door with Miroku following behind.

"I'm sure we will be out instead of staying indoors. Be careful." (closed the door with a relief look on his face.)

"So...what do wanna do today?" Kagome comes out of the kitchen with two cups of tea and places it on the table.

"I want to look over some of those books we got. If that's ok with you." looking down at his tea cup.

"Yeah that's fine. I need to do some laundry...so start without me." getting up from the table.

"I can help you." getting up to follow her.

"I got it. Thank you for being helpful, but I think we just need to have some space between us for a bit ok?" Miroku sat back down.

"You can't keep avoiding me Kagome. We should talk about what happened this morning."

Kagome turned to walk away "I am not avoiding you but I do need space to think for a bit ok. Can we talk later?"

Miroku gave a slight nod.

'I need to fix this. I don't want to lose her.'
