Miko and Monk

Chapter 13

It was just after 12pm when Kagome came back inside from hanging out the laundry.

'It's time for lunch. What should I make? I can make some fried noodles. Let me ask Miroku.'

Checks in the living room. Not there. Checks in his bedroom. Not there.

'Where is he? I wonder if he is at the shrine.'

Kagome was walking towards the shrine when she noticed the well house was open.

'He must be in here.'

"Miroku are you in here?" Stepping into the well house.

"I'm over here." he called out.

She went down the steps to see Miroku sitting on the floor with Buyo curled up in his lap napping.

"What are you doing here?" Kagome sits next to him.

"I was thinking about the dream and I thought if I was close to the well I might remember something more." looking serious while petting Buyo.

The duo sat in silence.

"Kagome. How's your arm? I notice you've been wearing long sleeves. Did it heal properly?"

She was too embarrassed to show it to anyone because she know she would be bombarded with tons of questions. "It has healed except it left a scar and I don't want people staring or asking questions about it."

Miroku stretched out his hard motioning for the arm. Kagome hesitated but stretched out her arm. As she was going to roll up her sleeve, Miroku stopped her. He in turn started to roll up slowly showing her skin little by little. There were 2 long deep jagged scratch marks that was scarred and raised up on her soft skin. Kagome's face turned red and she looked away.

"I know it's ugly." as she tried to pull away but he didn't let her.

Miroku gently caressed the scars. He leaned over and placed several small kisses over them. When Miroku looked to Kagome she was looking at him with tears in her eyes. At that moment Miroku felt a sharp pain to his head that jerked his body for Buyo to jump away and run off.

"Miroku! What's wrong?" Kagome panicked.

After about 2 minutes, the pain subsided. Miroku felt dizzy, weak and out of breathe. Kagome gently pulled Miroku to her and held him close to her. He felt a tear drop fall on his face. When he looked up Kagome had silent tears running. "I was scared Miroku. I didn't know what to do. I felt like I was going to lose to you." she held him tighter.

Miroku slowly came out of Kagome hold and looked up at her. "Kagome...I remember what happened to us."
