Miko and Monk

Chapter 15

The final battle against Naraku was over. Lord Sesshomaru and Lord Koga along with his wolf clan stood by us. Honestly without their help, I don't think we could have won. My wind tunnel finally disappeared. I was finally free from that curse. During the battle, Kikyo gave the last of her soul to Kohaku to bring him back to life. Unfortunately, she perished. Inuyasha was completely devastated. He wanted Kagome to bring her back with the jewel but she refused. It was a selfish wish and the jewel would return, possibly more powerful and evil. She could not live with herself if that happened. Kagome made the wish to have the jewel disappear forever. That was an unselfish wish and was granted. Inuyasha disappeared for about a week after that. No one knew where he went. Kagome was able to travel back to her time. She stayed away for 10 days and returned after her high school graduation. She wanted to speak to Inuyasha before she made a decision with her life. Rin was left with Kaede to reacquaint herself with humans and learn about herbs and medicine. Lord Sesshomaru returned to the Western Lands. Kohaku and Kirara followed him to train under his guidance. Shippo went off to fox academy. Koga went up north to marry Ayame. As for myself and Sango, we did not get the happily ever after. About 12 days after the battle, we were to be married. Kagome and Inuyasha had returned to the village for our wedding but there was still tension between them. For our sakes, they decided to settle their affairs after our wedding. I was so in love with Sango. She changed my life and made me a better man. I had a purpose to live. I wanted to settle down and start a family. Her feelings were not the same for me. I found this out on the same day as our wedding when a mysterious man showed up to our village. His name was Tama Mizuki. He was from the same demon slayer village as Sango and Kohaku. He was away on a mission, when the village was destroyed and everyone was killed. When he returned, he could find no survivors. He ended up traveling village to village with no purpose in his life. Until one day, he overheard some villagers talking about the hanyou and his pack. There was a miko, monk, fox demon and demon slayer among them. Once he found out it was Sango, he began to search for her. Once word reached the entire land Naraku was defeated, he made his way to our village. This man was Sango's childhood friend and her beloved. They promised each other to marry when he returned from that mission. My heart and soul broke completely. Her words… "I never loved you. I settled for you because my beloved died. I could love no other man but him." Sango's eyes were cold and empty. I begged and pleaded for her to stay but she left...with him.

It had been about 5 days when I finally sobered up and decided to find my purpose in this life. I know one day, I could still meet my soulmate. Until then, to heal my heart and soul, I would travel and help others the best that I could. I had packed up my belongings and said my goodbyes to Kaede and the villagers. I went to look for Kagome and Inuyasha. I knew they were by the Goshiboku tree. When I arrived, I came upon the most breaking scene. Inuyasha was turning demon and was trying to harm Kagome. She had her bow and arrow pointed at him. Inching her way backwards closer to the well. Her clothing was ripped. I slowly approached them. Turns out when Inuyasha disappeared, he went in search of a witch to bring Kikyo back to life. To do this he needed Kagome's soul. In exchange for this evil deed, he gave up the Tessaiga. The same sword forged from his father's fang to help control his demon. I was reaching for some sutras to bind Inuyasha. To do that I had to drop my staff and show my hands as no intent to harm. I placed myself in between them with Kagome behind me. As Kagome was dropping her arrow, Inuyasha lounged after her and clawed her arm while I pulled her back falling backwards into the well still holding on to Kagome. Inuyasha stretched out his arm to grab us but I grabbed the subjugation beads as we continued to fall in darkness.
