Over the next several months, the duo made strides in moving forward.
Miroku became more involved with the shrine especially with increasing petitioner's coming. The increase has been more females which delighted Miroku with all the attention he got. He did amazingly keeping his hands to himself but only indulged in flirting. He never took it more than that as he had no interest. He even took it upon himself to do repairs on the house. In his free time, he learned how to play chess and took Souta to his soccer games, even learning more about the sport and help coach the team. Miroku has been getting used to life in the modern day.
Kagome got a part time job with a nearby nursery school. She did continue to help out at the shrine and pursued her training as a miko. She started a small herb garden next to the Goshinboku tree to continue practicing. Kagome introduced Miroku to Hojo and both of them quickly hit it off especially since they both liked chess and soccer. It was good that he had a friend to hang out with besides Kagome.
There were no more nightmares and they never spoke of the past. Their lives have been busy and contented. Until they got an unexpected visitor….
