It was almost 3 am by the time Paloma finally made it home. These late night shifts at the hospital were something that needed adjusting to and her body just wasn't having it. When she walked in the door and kicked off her shoes, she noticed the kitchen light had been left on and a plate still sitting on the counter. She just shrugged it off and got into the shower. Staring at her face in the mirror, she wondered" when did she become an adult?" She's the one people rely on now, she's the one that is supposed to have the answers. The hot water rolled down her skin and the smell of rose and tea tree filled the air. Once she was done, Paloma wrapped her hair in a bun and triple checked her alarm for the morning. Is 3 am too late for dinner? Maybe. Just something quick then, Paloma grabbed a quick bite so she wouldn't be too hungry in the morning and went to her room. The moonlight shining through the linen curtains she had strung up a couple months ago when she moved into this shoebox of an apartment. The pictures on her nightstand, illuminated by the moon, showed a couple in Central Park. Paloma with her dark hair up in a ponytail and a big smile on her face, while the man had his arm around her shoulder and the camera in his other hand, he looked down at her as if she put the stars in the sky. That was Palomas favorite photo of her and her boyfriend. His job was pretty demanding, he could be called out at a moments notice and he would have to go. She didn't plan on falling in love with him or even meeting him to be honest. Just the perks of living in New York.

Laying in bed and staring at the ceiling she thought about her day, the patients she had met, the individual faces she had seen on the street. Paloma could remember every single one, it gets overbearing sometimes but a photographic memory was a great tool when she was going through medical school.

She's going to change the world

No pressure, none, at all. Paloma knew she had a gift, she never took it for granted. That's why she got into the medical field, she knew that she'd be able to help so many people.

The alarm clock next to her bed blinked, "4 am" and she huffed at herself, "Great, only 3 hours of sleep." She pulled the covers up to her neck and rolled her body away from the window so she could get some sleep.
She had almost fallen asleep when she felt someone crawl into bed with her. They wrapped their arms around her and pulled in close. Paloma could feel his breath on her neck and his body warmth on her back.
"It's 4 am, where have you been this time?"
She could sense the mischievous grin appear on his face as he let out a little laugh, "Just helping save the world, my love, the normal."

Now that he was home, Paloma was able to sleep peacefully. In the arms of her love.
