Miko and Monk
Chapter 20
The duo sat outside. They were still absorbing everything that they learned that evening, "I am happy Shippo found us! He's grown up into an intelligent fox. I can't wait to meet his kids." Kagome spoke excitedly.
"Yeah he did well. I'm proud of him." Miroku spoke with sadness.
"What's wrong Miroku?" taking his hand into hers. Something Kagome hasn't done in a long time.
"Even though I hated Sango and Inuyasha for the pain they caused us, in the end they died suffering more than us. Karma happens unexpectedly. Unfortunately innocent people were hurt and lost. It's a lot to take in." squeezing back her hand. "I'm going to the temple for a bit. I want to pray and light incense. Don't wait up for me." letting go and walking towards the temple.
"Miroku wait." following behind until he stopped. "I understand completely how you feel. I feel the same way. Just don't shut yourself away from me. We still have each other." Kagome hugged Miroku from behind. As she pulled away, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to him in a tight hug.
"Kagome, I could never shut you away. I need you in my life just as much as you need me in yours. I was afraid that you would see me as just comfort in each other for what we have been thru but that's not true. We have healed and supported each other. The more we grew close is the more I desired you and I knew I wanted you in my life forever. I've fallen deeply and madly in love with you" he pulled away to kiss her on her lips.
Kagome moved her arms around his neck and pulled him closer to her. She broke free and looked him in his eyes. "I feel the same way. I need you and want to be with you forever. I love you Miroku." as they kissed once more. "Can I come with you to offer my prayers?" "Yes let's do this together." as they made their way to the shrine hand in hand. That night they prayed for the ones they loved and lost and they prayed for their new beginning together.
Kagome and Miroku announced their intentions to their family and friends of becoming a couple. Everyone was overjoyed and was finally relieved they figured out their feelings for one another. Shippo helped Miroku to make him an official citizen of present day Japan. He took on the family Higurashi. Miroku has joined Shippo with helping demons and hanyous.
After several months, Kagome and Miroku went away to a shrine in the northern part of Japan to further study on their intended path of taking over the Higursashi family shrine for 6 months. When they returned, they had a small wedding at the shrine with grandpa officially marrying them.
Shippo and Soten gave them a honeymoon trip to Europe with all expenses paid and first class accommodation for a month. "You guys deserve this. Enjoy yourselves. Soten put the itinerary together with lots of free time. If ya know what I mean" as he imitates Miroku's eyebrow wiggle.
Kagome continued to work at the nursery school until they decided when they had children, she will stay home with them.
On the day of their 1st anniversary, Kagome and Miroku found out they were expecting their first child. 9 months later a healthy baby boy was born. They named him Akihiko. Two years later, a baby girl was born and she was named Amaya. They are now expecting a set of twins.
Miko and Monk were finally happy with their own little never expected that in their lifetime, they were always meant for each other.
