"No, Riley, seeing Thestrals doesn't mean you're going to die. It just means that you've seen someone die," Sarah tells him.
"Then why does the Ministry classify them as XXXX? They have to be dangerous in some way. And what's more dangerous than dying, if you see them?"
Ana walks over to the pair as they continue to argue. She looks between them, as she tries to figure out what they are disagreeing on.
"Does not!"
"Does, too!"
"Does not!"
"Does, too!"
"What are you guys arguing about?" Ana asks Riley and Sarah.
"Riley thinks that if you see a Thestral, you are going to die," Sarah informs Ana.
"And Sarah believes that seeing a Thestral just means you saw someone die," Riley says.
"Well, it brings me absolute joy to say this: you're wrong, Riley," Ana declares.
"WHAT?!"
"Yup. The only reason why Thestrals are classified as they are is because the Ministry is full of idiots."
"I told you," Sarah says as she smiles from ear to ear.
Riley groans as he hangs his head in shame.
"There, there. Now then, to class!" Sarah shouts excitedly as she runs towards Hagrid's cabin.
"Wait up, Sarah," Ana calls out as she chases after her.
Riley stands there as he watches his two friends hurry off to Care of Magical Creatures. He sighs and a small smile appears on his face.
Riley then jogs off to catch up with them. Ana is able to catch up to Sarah, who stops running all of a sudden.
"Man...that was...tiring," Sarah pants out, doubling over to catch her breath.
Ana rolls her eyes and giggles at her. Sarah smiles at her, bumping their shoulders together.
"So Miss Thestral Lover, you ready for today's class?"
"Of course! I can't wait to see what Hagrid tells us about them," Ana exclaims.
"Wait, what's this lesson about? I forgot," Riley questions as he appears behind them.
"The Thestrals, of course! This is our first lesson as fifth years. Hagrid always shows the Thestrals to the fifth years for his first lesson. How could you forget that, Riley?" Sarah rolls her eyes.
"Look, I'm only here because you two convinced me not to drop it. Otherwise, I'd be happily sitting in Arithmancy. Now that is an awesome class. Maybe Professor Flitwick will let me change," Riley mutters as they reach their destination.
"If you ever try to get out of this class, I'll hire the Weasley twins to prank you," Sarah threatens as she glares at Riley.
"O-ok. I-I guess Care for Magical Creatures isn't a bad class to take."
Sarah smiles as Ana laughs at Riley's predicament.
"Great! Hey, look! We're here," Sarah says as they stop in front of Hagrid.
About half of the class is already there. The rest is behind the trio of Ravenclaws. Ana spots Ginny off to the side. She spots Ana from where she is standing. Ginny smiles and waves at her. Ana returns the greeting.
"So, what do the Thestrals look like?" Sarah asks Ana.
"Well, they are winged creatures with a skeletal-like body. Their figure closely resembles a horse's. They are also black in color," Ana informs her.
Hagrid clears his throat to get everyone's attention. Ana listens to Hagrid as he explains what they are doing for the class. Once he is done explaining, he starts to lead them to a small clearing near the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Once they reach the clearing, Hagrid throws the raw meat he's carrying onto the ground.
"Now then. Yer gonna keep an eye on th' meat. Yer gonna be able ta see 'em eat."
Ana smiles as she spots a baby Thestral walking over to the pile of raw meat.
The little one nips at the meat, before grabbing one. The students gasp and point as the meat. They whisper among themselves as more Thestrals start to arrive. Two of the younglings start to fight for a piece of meat. Ana laughs at the younglings' antics.
"This is so cool! Isn't it, Ana?!" Sarah whispers excitedly to her.
Ana nods her head in agreement as Riley mutters something behind them.
"Got something to share, Riley?" Sarah asks, making him shut his mouth.
"No. It's nothing," Riley tells her.
"I thought so," Sarah says, turning back to the Thestrals.
Once the Thestrals are done eating, Hagrid takes them back to his cabin where he dismisses the class.
Ana, Riley and Sarah walk back to the castle. They stay near the back, chatting about the class.
"The little ones were so adorable! I should totally draw them," Ana says as she smiles widely.
"Will they be accurate drawings?" Sarah asks her.
"Of course! Why wouldn't they?"
"Well, when you're done with them, can I see them?" Sarah asks Ana as they reach the castle courtyard.
"Of course! I have a feeling you'll like the drawings. Do you want to see them as well, Riley?" Ana asks him as she looks at him.
"Hmm—What was the question? I was busy thinking about all the homework I have to finish," Riley says as he looks back at her.
"I was asking if you wanted to see the drawings once I finish them."
"Sure, why not? It'll be interesting to see how you depict the Thestrals," Riley says as they enter the castle.
"Great! I'll start drawing them after Transfiguration is over. I'll probably be done with them by lunch tomorrow," Ana tells them.
"Sounds great! Speaking of Transfiguration, we better go. I don't think Professor McGonagall will be happy if we're late," Sarah says as she starts up the steps.
"Yeah. Let's go! Come on Riley! I'll beat you there," Ana says, already running off.
"Hey! Wait up guys! You know I hate running in the castle," Riley calls out as he runs after them.
Sarah and Ana giggle as they leave Riley in their dust. He sighs, knowing that he isn't going to win anyway, as he continues to chase after his friends.
