Sarah growls out in annoyance as she stabs at her food. Ana looks over at her. Sarah's right eye twitches slightly as Chloe, a Gryffindor in their year, continues to talk loudly from where she sits.

"Oh yes! It was wonderful! You should have been there, darling. The food was top-notch and I even got to meet a cutie named Ethan. He promised me that we'll stay in touch. I've already sent him a letter. His response should be here any day now," Chloe says as her friends look at her in awe.

Ana looks over at Sarah just as she stabs her fork into the table. Sarah abruptly stands up. She grabs her bag and swings it over her shoulder.

"I'm done. See you around, Ana," Sarah growls out.

Her fist clenches as she stalks out of the Great Hall. The door slams behind her. Ana sighs as she continues to eat her lunch. She ignores every word of nonsense that Chloe continues to say, in favor of her book. Her father has sent her the newest manga of a series that she had started reading over the summer. Ana takes another bite of her sandwich as she flips the page. The wooden doors of the Great Hall opens. Ana glances over to see Sarah stalking back in, muttering something under her breath.

"What did you forget this time?" Ana asks her as Sarah reaches the table.

"My book," Sarah mumbles out as she grabs it.

She turns and is about to leave, when Ana speaks up.

"Why are you jealous of Chloe? We both know that she's spouting nonsense," Ana tells her friend.

"I'm not jealous! Who would be jealous of that liar?" Sarah says, crossing her arms.

Ana sighs as she grabs her sandwich. She stands up as she places her manga into her bag.

"Let's go. Don't we have Potions with Professor Snape soon? We shouldn't be late. I don't want points to be taken away because we are a second late," Ana says as she walks towards the Great Hall doors.

Ana hears Sarah follow her as they leave the Great Hall. The door closes softly behind them as they walk towards the dungeons. They walk together in silence. Ana keeps glancing at Sarah, who's still in a sour mood.

"Hey, Sarah."

"Yeah, Ana? What is it?"

"For the longest time, I wanted to be just like you."

"Eh?!"

Ana stops walking as she glances down at her feet. Sarah stops as well and glances back at Ana.

"Ana, why? I don't understand," Sarah says as she looks at her best friend in confusion.

"It's just...I envy you," Ana confesses as she looks up at Sarah. "You could walk up to literally anyone and strike up a conversation. It doesn't matter if they are older or younger than you. You always have that natural confidence that some people—that I— lack. You have so many friends that I can't keep count of them."

"Ana," Sarah whispers quietly as she continues.

"I can't walk up to anyone and talk to them. My hands get all sweaty and my knees get all shaky. My throat feels dry and the words get caught...they can't come out. I would rather hide in the library than talk to others," Ana says as she looks up. "That's why I envy you."

Sarah stands there, lost for words as Ana smiles softly. She opens her mouth to say anything to her. But Sarah realizes that there is nothing that she can say. She's never felt that way before.

To be envious of someone because of something you lack. Of course, people think she's envious of Chloe when she's actually not. Sarah just doesn't like how Chloe spread lies about what she does just to be popular with the other girls.

"Anyways, we should go now. I don't want to anger Professor Snape," Ana says, snapping Sarah out of her thoughts.

Ana then starts walking, only for Sarah to stop her from going past her.

"Ana, wait," Sarah says, lightly tugging Ana back.

"What is it? If it's about what I said, there's nothing to say. I know that I'll never be you, and I'm fine with that. I just felt like you should know that," Ana explains as she brushes some of her curly brown hair out of her face. "Besides, that doesn't change anything between us. We're still friends."

Ana looks up at Sarah and smiles. Sarah lets go of Ana's sleeve as she looks at her friend.

"How can you be so calm about this? It's like what you said is normal for you," Sarah asks.

"Because it is. I get envious of others quite easily. I'm just good at hiding it and going on with my everyday activities."

"Oh," Sarah says, not knowing what else to say.

"Now then, I'll race you to class!"

Ana then starts running towards the dungeons, leaving a shocked Sarah behind.

"H-hey! Wait up," Sarah shouts as she runs after Ana.

She passes different students as she follows her friend. Ana then disappears into the crowd and Sarah sighs, knowing that she'll win. When Ana disappears, it usually means you've lost and you'll have to try again next time. Sarah slows down, deciding to walk the rest of the way to class.

She can't help but think about what Ana said. Sarah then looks ahead with a determined look in her eyes. She'll help Ana. She'll make her realize that she's perfect the way she is. Then she won't be envious of anyone. Smiling, Sarah starts to jog towards the dungeons. Now to figure out a plan to help Ana...
