Thanks to DSLeo for reviewing.

Since last week, when I updated this last I finished the story the search for a family. As the first story finished of the ones I said were about to get finished.

The hours after Paul Anka had a status epilepticus passed by slowly, yet way too fast.

For the first two hours Paul Anka only laid on the table, moving no more than when he breathed. It was like the cramping seizure had taken all of his energy- maybe it had.

Then at last he got up and more or less fell down from the table. I held my breath while he slowly moved away. Maybe it could be like he was his usual self that wasn't overtaken by what was growing in his brain.

But it was like every movement, hurt him.

Somehow I just wasn't surprised in the slightest when he did his need right on the floor rather than telling us he needed to go outside.

"Nana." Leo had followed Paul Anka's every move during the day. "Paul Anka pooped on the floor."

"I know…" Paul Anka seemed ashamed when he came back towards me. "Don't worry about it Paul Anka," he sunk down right by my feet and it seemed he had used all of his energy. "Can you go find 'Luke and he can help clean it up."

"Okay."

I took Paul Anka with me into the bathroom, laid him in the bathtub. Which had never been his favorite place exactly. Now he didn't even look at me while I washed his back side and then the rest of his body- if this was going to happen then he could at least be cleaned for the last few hours of his life.

When I took him back to the living room Paul Anka laid down by the fire place instead of on the table and I didn't stop him from doing that. He laid his head down on his paws and seemed as happy as he possibly could.

Leo was by him the whole day as hours passed by slowly yet way to quickly.

"Is he in any pain?"

Nothing much was said the whole day. But maybe Leo understood more than we thought he did.

"I don't know." I answered truthfully. "Leo… I hope you understand that, when the vet comes here later today. She will give Paul Anka a shot. And Paul Anka will fall asleep and then… he won't wake up again."

That seemed like a simple way to describe what would happening to a toddler.

Leo didn't say anything and I didn't either. But instead, he stroke Paul Anka over the neck and side one more time and then laid down on the floor with him, lying his head on Paul Anka's neck.

"Then I'll stay here until you fall asleep."

Random fact

I hadn't planned this chapter earlier. I had some trouble with writing the next and it was then I came up with this.
