CHAPTER THREE
"SWALLOWED" BY DEATH
"Look, I don't think I need to worry. We got lucky to escape. The story's over. I have to go, I'll call you tomorrow to prove I'm fine. See ya."
However, she would not have much to prove.
Tails slowly opened his eyes. "What time is it?" He asked aloud.
"An estimated fifty-two people died in the route 23 pile up just sixteen hours ago."
Tails did his calculations.
"One in the morning."
Tails pondered about the dream he had just had. Who had just been speaking. It sounded like...wave?
A terrible though settled in.
If Sonic is right then... wouldn't she be next?
Meanwhile at Wave's house:
Wave couldn't sleep. The thought of the pile-up was playing and replaying in her head.
Eventually, she went to the kitchen to make a sandwich.
She opened the cabinet in front of her and grabbed a knife from the knife block inside to use.
But she didn't know was that water was leaking from a pipe under the sink. The water was dripping out of the cabinet from under the sink. And the water was slowly making it's way to the shoes of the swallow.
"What are you doing still up?" Asked Sarah as she came out into the living room.
"I had a weird dream."
"Oh?"
"I think it had something to do with Wave."
"Like another vision?"
"Almost. I'll call her to see if she's okay." Tails said as he picked up his phone.
Wave walked over to the counter where her phone was.
Not noticing that she was stepping in water.
"Hello?"
"Hi Wave."
"Tails? You've never called me before..."
"Look, I know it's late but I-I think you're in danger."
"Uh... what?"
"I just want to make sure you're fine. If what Sonic said at the station is true then you're next since you died second in the pile-up."
"Look, I don't think I need to worry. We got lucky to escape. The story's over. I have to go, I'll call you tomorrow to prove I'm fine."
"'Kay... bye."
"See ya."
However, there would not be much to prove, as when she turned around to walk away she began to slip on the water.
To try to steady herself she grabbed the handle of the cabinet.
But she did fall and caused the cabinets top half to break off from the wall.
This opened the door and caused the knife block to start sliding towards the opening.
Wave landed on her back. Soon after, the knives fell from the block and onto the floor. Two of then stabbed Wave in her stomach and chest. She let out a scream. As she screamed the final knife fell. It fell into her open mouth and impaled her through the back of her throat.
Tails looked at his phone.
"I'm sure she's fine." Said Sarah.
"Now come on. Let's go to bed."
Tails sighed, then followed.
Tails was drying the dishes from their breakfast. MJ and Timmy had left for school and Sarah was drinking her coffee and reading her book.
"I didn't sleep again last night." Tails said.
"I know. You kept tossing and turning." Sarah replied as she put down her book.
"For some reason I could hear a scream. I echoed in my head all night."
Sarah though for a moment before turning her attention to the TV.
"I'm just worried about Wave-" Tails realized he wasn't being listened to anymore.
Sarah was staring in the direction of the TV. Her eyes were wide and she was covering her mouth with her hands.
"What are you-?" Tails walked over to her.
Then he heard the TV.
"She was found dead in her apartment. Police were called when her neighbor heard her scream. Police suspect fowl play but so far there has been no evidence has shown up for evidence but one officer think it may have something to do with the pile up. Hopefully we will have an answer soon to the death of Wave the swallow. Back to you Johnny."
Tails stared at the screen before looking at Sarah.
"I-I need to call Shadow." Said Tails.
