A/N: Hey guys! Back again with the last update of the month, hope you like it!

When he's five years old he loses his favorite stuffed whale and cries about it for hours. Sometimes things have to go, his mother explains calmly, smoothing his hair back. He doesn't believe her, doesn't get why, and continues to sniffle into the night.

When he's eleven years old he loses his father and sits in shock for hours. Sometimes people have to go, his mother explains tearfully, hugging him tight. He doesn't want to believe her, still doesn't get why and stays up all night.

When he's thirteen he grows out of his favorite shirt, at fifteen he breaks his bike, he loses his headphones, drops a little bird figurine and learns of all the things that go. He thinks he's used to it now.

He's wrong.

When he's seventeen years old he loses his friends and mopes for days. It's different from the others because this was a choice, even if college hadn't been a factor it was a choice. Sometimes people choose to go, his mother explains softly, holding his hand in hers. He believes her, he doesn't think he'll ever get why.

When he's twenty-three he loses his girlfriend and calls his mom in a few hours. Sometimes people should go, his mother explains quietly as he grips the phone. A month later he learns that she's right, and he thinks he might be starting to understand why. They go so new things can come.

When he's twenty-five he's convinced that not just some things, but all things go.

And then one day he meets a girl with blonde hair and grey eyes who's just stubborn enough to change his mind.

When he's twenty-six he wonders if the fights they've been having lately will prove him right but when he angrily asks her why won't she just go she sets her jaw and stays.

When he's twenty-seven he stands at the alter and watches her come towards him and realizes that she's stayed through fights and colds and building ikea furniture and he never wants to watch her go.

Years come and go, but she stays as their daughter goes to college as their son goes to get married, as the first car breaks and countless cups and plates (and an occasional vase) gets dropped and sweaters and scarves and the things he doesn't even remember anymore, go.

Except for her.

When he's sixty-two he turns to his side and sees the blonde hair fading to white and the grey eyes as sharp as ever and the set jaw that proves he was wrong.

All things have to go, have to end, but sometimes they stay till the end.

A/N: So what did you think? Just wanted to highlight this aspect of life (that things go) and love (that people stay). And on the note of things going, I have decided to end this series and start again under a part 2. Only two more chapters before the start of the Part 2 to this so be on the lookout for that announcement!

Please Review! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

And as always, thanks for reading!

See ya! :)
