A/N: Hey guys! This is the second to last fic on this series and the first fic in my new continuation of this series Semantics of Love 2 (more info in the second authors note) for now though, hope you like it!

Annabeth figures from a pretty early age that she's just not meant for love. And that's perfectly fine. After all, she's a daughter of Athena, and not one of those giggly Aphrodite girls with their lipstick and mirrors.

Besides, the pursuit of love isn't more important than the pursuit of knowledge, and even though she finds a certain son of Hermes pretty amazing, going on a quest and testing her limits is much more important.

And maybe that's why when he shows up, half-dead and drooling, she takes a chance, even if he's a son of Poseidon.

Now, looking at him, she wonders how she could have been so foolish.

"Why are you so— " he cuts himself off, but the way he angrily rakes his hand through his hair and the look on his face says everything.

She's not meant for love.

And she should never have thought otherwise, she tells herself as she hastily turns away, all but running towards the lake. Images of her family, Luke, the people she thought she could trust but had stomped her out, flash before her eyes.

Her heart breaks a little when his face flashes, just for a second, those sea-green eyes haunting her. Blinking back tears, she slows down as her vision blurs. Even then she can make out the lake, blue, like the frosting on the day she had so foolishly convinced herself that maybe she could do this.

She had been naïve. She isn't meant for love.

A shiver runs over her body, making her feel weak and tired and she hates that he has this much power over her. She can't stop the tears.

And she hates even more that all she wants is to be in his arms again.

As if the gods had heard her silent plea, the moment she turns around, still wiping away tears, she collides into something solid that smells a little like home.

Arms wrap around her and she hates that she all but melts into them.

"I'm sorry," he whispers, lips against her forehead. "I'm so sorry Annabeth, I didn't mean it like that."

She tries to stay rigid in his hold, but his presence alone is wearing her down.

"Annabeth?" he whispers again. She doesn't respond. He pulls away, and for a moment, she wants nothing more than to be wrong.

And she's an Athena kid, she's never wrong.

But in that moment, she fears it's the end and prays that she's wrong.

She wants to be meant for love.

"You know I didn't mean it, right?" he asks, looking over her with those green eyes filled with sadness and regret.

Deep down, she knows he's telling the truth.

"I know, I'm…" The words die out as she speaks them, bossy, prideful, cold, mean—

"The person I love," he finishes. The words tumble out of his mouth, simple, as if it's the most natural thing in the world. As if everyone knew.

Well, she didn't.

And then his lips are on hers and she feels a pull within her that she's never quite put a name to before, but she thinks she might know now.

After all, she's an Athena kid, and all evidence points to it being love.

-.-

As it turns out, she's wrong about a lot of things. As it turns out, she is meant for love. And as it turns out, maybe Aphrodite isn't all that wrong.

Because when he goes missing, she understands why they fought the Trojan War. In the pursuit of love, she's ready to upturn the whole world to find him.

Because if there's anyone out there who can love Annabeth Chase, it's Percy Jackson.

A/N: So there you have it! It's so strange to say this is the second to last fic in this version of the series.

But don't worry, I AM CONTINUING THIS SERIES UNDER SEMANTICS OF LOVE 2!

I floated the idea last month and some people thought it'd be good to break it off and continue it as a second series and I agree. So this particular drabble has been posted here and on the new Semantics of Love 2 just to show that it's the same series that I'll be continuing. However, the next and last chapter will not be cross-posted to that story and will be unique to this one.

I hope you guys liked this one, just wanted to cover the idea of Annabeth thinking she's not meant for love and being completely wrong. Because I think there is something to love inside all of us, we just need to find it.

Please Review I'd love to hear your thoughts!

And as always, thanks for reading! I hope you join me in Semantics of Love 2!

See ya! :)
