7. professors

I had same recurring dream of green bursting light and today I realised something, maybe this is not a dream, maybe it's the day when our family was attacked and maybe the crying baby is Harry or me. I've never told my brother about this, I always shared everything with him but I don't know why I never told him about my dreams.

After sometime other girls started waking up, "what're-y-you doin' wakin up so early" lavender said while yawning

"It's one of my habits" I told her, "now maybe you should too properly wake up, I've already been too washroom, now it's all yours girls"

"That's a good thing," said Hermione while getting her brush out of her trunk "waking up early, I'll also have to wake up early" then she went to washroom

"what-was-dat" said Parvati still half asleep

"she meant she can do more stuffs, if she sleeps and wakes up at time" I explained

"Ohhh, good" she fall asleep once again

"I'll wake her up, after my turn to washroom" said lavender and started getting her stuffs to out of trunk. After half an hour around eight o clock, I and Hermione departed for breakfast, my brother waved at me and left with his friend Ron.

Harry told me everyone was whispering about him and staring at him, I too got a lot of stares but Harry is not good with attention, I don't like unwanted attention either but he hates it.

There were hundred and forty two stairways, there were wide, sweeping one: narrow and rickety ones it was not easy to be on stairs there were some times stairs which steps were vanishing halfway at any time so you have to be careful enough to jump at right time: then there were some stairs which were going somewhere else on Friday, then there were doors some opened when you tickled in right place, said the right thing or asked politely it was not easy to find any classroom or right stairs, then there were people in portraits, most of them visited each other and I was sure the coat of Armour could walk, ghost wasn't help either as they were gliding around you any time, Nearly headless Nick told the right direction when asked but peeves the Poltergeist was worth two locked doors, vanishing stairs or trick staircase. I was spending my most of the time with Hermione, we were good at finding ways or classes but my brother and his friend were either late or lost.

There was this caretaker Argus filch, with a cat called Norris, He was creepy and strict and bit of a maniac, his cat was just like him alerting of any students wrongdoing, my brother and Ron was once caught by him on third floor out of the bounds corridor, according to them they were lost which I totally believe.

There was really a lot to magic than just waving your wand saying some stupid words.

we had to study the night skies through our telescopes every Wednesday at midnight and learn the names of different stars and the movements of the planets. Three times a week we went out to the greenhouses behind the castle to study Herbology, with a dumpy little witch called Professor Sprout, where we learned how to take care of all the strange plants and fungi, and found out what they were used for.

Easily the most boring class was History of Magic, which was the only one taught by a ghost. Professor Binns had been very old indeed when he had fallen asleep in front of the staff room fire and got up next morning to teach, leaving his body behind him. Binns droned on and on while they scribbled down names and dates, and got Emeric the Evil and Uric the Oddball mixed up.

Professor Flitwick, the Charms teacher, was a tiny little wizard who had to stand on a pile of books to see over his desk. At the start of their first class he took the roll call, and when he reached Harry's name he gave an excited squeak and toppled out of sight.

Professor McGonagall was again different. I had been quite right to think she wasn't a teacher to cross. Strict and clever, she gave them a talking-to the moment they sat down in her first class.

Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts," she said. "Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. You have been warned."

Then she changed her desk into a pig and back again. They were all very impressed and couldn't wait to get started, but soon realized we weren't going to be changing the furniture into animals for a long time. After taking a lot of complicated notes, we were each given a match and started trying to turn it into a needle. By the end of the lesson, only Hermione Granger and I had made any difference to our match; Professor McGonagall showed the class how it had gone all silver and pointy and gave Hermione a rare smile.

The class everyone had really been looking forward to was Defence Against the Dark Arts, but Quirrell's lessons turned out to be a bit of a joke.

Hermione and I were having breakfast when suddenly my brother appeared, "tell me you didn't lost today"

"No, we found our way today" said Harry triumphantly

"You could've easily come with us" I said "we already know the way"

"It was, we just wanted to find out ourselves and we did" Said Ron beaming, Hermione sighed at the comment, Ron ignored.

"What's our schedule for today" asked Harry

"double potions with the Slytherins" said Hermione

"he is head of the Slytherin house"

"he is biased towards them" said Ron

"wish McGonagall favoured us" said Harry

"in your dreams" I and Hermione both replied

Hedwig came flying in with Artemis in tow, Hedwig dropped a letter in front of me and Artemis swooped low and sat in front of Harry then Hedwig came too to sit.

"Who sent you a letter" asked Harry curiously leaning towards her

Dear Emma and Harry,

, I know you get Friday afternoons off so would you like to come and have a cup of tea with me around three? I Want to hear all about your first week. Send us an answer back with Hedwig.

Hagrid

I borrowed Hermione's quill, scribbled Yes, please, see you later on the back of the note, and sent Hedwig off again.

"you are coming right" I asked my brother

"of course" he replied

It was good he wanted to come because the Slytherin head of house, Professor Severus Snape was after my brother of all class, He criticised him, He asked him questions, my brother can't even know right now, Hermione did but the professor even didn't look at her, I kind of told her after class it's not good raising hand over and over again if teacher is not responding, Snape even took some points off my brother, I don't know why but, it felt like he hated my brother with his guts, he criticised everyone in the class except Malfoy, I'm sure Neville is frightened of him now, but the other thing was that he even didn't look at me, he looked once but that was for checking my work.

They went to Hagrid together Emma, Harry and Ron, Hermione didn't join them, I asked her if she wanted to but she just said she has some work to do in library, it was fun being with him in afternoon, he introduced them to his enormous black boarhound, who seemed quite lazy, Then Hagrid told them about Snape and all the professors, when Harry mentioned sanpe seemed like he hated him, Hagrid responded with why would he, that kind of is true, why?? Then Harry found a newspaper on which a theft was mentioned, it was on the very same day we visited Diagon alley, but the vault they wanted to steal from was already emptied which raised so many questions , it seemed like Hagrid knew something.

It was me and my brother by window of common room, Ron and Hermione were already long gone to dorms.

"What do you think??" I asked my brother

"about what" he replied

"the news, the vault and what Hagrid is hiding" I replied

"I don't know but yeah vault and news seems connected, I don't why but Hagrid was hiding something about Snape as well" he said

"yeah, but shouldn't we not think about it and focus on our studies" I said

"you are right," said Harry and kissed me on my forehead "good night, go get some sleep"
