And I know it is totally crazy
To dream I'd find romance
But for the first time in forever
At least I've got a chance

-For the First Time in Forever, Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell

He had never in his life even dreamed to hope that anyone would look at him in that enamoured way, like he was actually worth something behind his masks, and shows of powerful magic. He had only ever seen people like him because of his power and status in Slytherin House, because he was a parseltongue and related to Slytherin himself.

It was odd thinking that someone had actually paid attention to him, and his actions and habits, but he had seen it in those green eyes on the occasional chance that he was able to catch them. His power and status did not matter in those eyes. He was something more in those eyes.

He couldn't believe it though. Not after the Orphanage, where he was the outcast and feared because of his ability. He hadn't had a choice then. It was the bully or the bullied, he hadn't the choice.

He did have the choice at Hogwarts. Not at first maybe, but he definitely did later on. He had chosen what was easier for his eventual goals. He needed a support base, and he could not possible hope to be kind and considerate as a Slytherin while gaining allies that were just as slippery as himself. He could not risk weakness, not then.

It was different now. There was no Hogwarts, no houses keeping people apart by prejudices. He was free to do as he wished now. His support base was firm, and his allies already deeply entwined in his cause. They would not be able to leave if they wished to, not that they would with their minds so full of his promise of blood purity.

They would get their blood purity. Perhaps not in the way they had originally expected, but they also needed the knowledge of what blood purity would cause. They were naïve to the reality of what having only purebloods in the wizarding world would cause.

He knew this could change things. It could be that one possibility that he had unknowingly been searching a very long time for.

He dared not hope, even as his eyes watched the other male from the corner of his eye as his hand picked up a glass, of what looked like Chartreuse, from a passing waiter.

It truly was ridiculous how his hope had managed to grow ever since he had seen that single glance. If his hope grew any more, he would become bold and lose his reservations for simply approaching the green-eyed male.

Perhaps that wasn't too much of a bad thing. He had never been given a chance like that before. He had never been seen that much honest interest in anyone's eyes before. it was almost frightening but he'd held onto the childish dream for so long. It had been a deeply hidden desire, his only weakness.

Maybe it was time for him to give it a chance.

For the first time in forever.
