11. Dragon

I knew my brother was hiding something but I also knew Hermione will tell me if she gets to know anything, only if I knew better.

Months passed we were near exam and year end, which was freaking Hermione out

"It's just ten weeks" Hermione said for the hundredth time,

"Just calm down, you are brilliant Hermione, you should not even be frightened," I stated the obvious

"I'm not," muttered Hermione "I just need to focus more,"

"can we just ignore the part of going to library" I begged but we both ended up there as Hermione's favourite place is this for focusing or every problem, after some time studying,

. "I need to tell you something" Hermione said out of nowhere

"what" I was surprised with abrupt seriousness in her voice

"it's – it's just I've lied to you about something" Hermione breathed

"About Nicolas Flamel or it's some sorcerer's stone which is secured by fluffy" I asked and

Hermione was shocked and said, "why didn't you tell me"

"Because, you already knew and you didn't tell me" I again stated the obvious

"I' m sorry but Harry made me promise about not telling you anything when he told me so I was just stuck in between and that day I told him he should just have never tell me instead of making me promise keep a secret from you" said Hermione apologetically

"Why now, You wanted to tell me everything" I said, I was still angry with her, I was angry with her for last few months but before right now I just didn't seem to care about it

"Actually it was totally out of my mind for most of the time, just today I felt like really I betrayed you," said Hermione, she looked genuinely concerned about it.

"It's alright Hermione, I know my brother, So I don't blame you" I responded with a smile

"how did you already know" Hermione asked,

"I just read the chocolate frog card of Professor Dumbledore, there it was mentioned all of it and I read it because Harry was shocked just after seeing that card that day – remember Malfoy hexed Neville with leg-locker curse" I explained to her

"You were brilliant" said Hermione with a impressed look

Hermione told me whatever recent discoveries about the stone, she told me my brother was always running into professor Snape at unexpected times, that he overheard Snape and Quirrel talking one day about same corridor, according to Harry Snape is forcing Quirrel into helping him to get the stone. That was all the progression my brother and Ron made. She told me, he also ask them to not talk about it until he brought up the subject in front of me, which he rarely did, After half an hour later my brother and Ron came in library too, I left library after sometime and Hermione followed me.

"Here you both are" said Ron, Hermione and I were just doing our homework, near by a window

"what's up??" I enquired looking at him,

"Nothing just, It looks like Hagrid is trying to pet a dragon"

"WHAT!!" I shouted, everyone in the room started looking at us, "what?" I whispered this time

"we saw him with our eyes expecting a dragon baby" said my brother

"Really??" I asked once again because I wasn't believing it, "a real dragon like-like fire breathing one"

"well it's just a egg, right now" responded Ron

"A dragon egg," said Hermione for the first time "is he out of his mind, it's illegal"

"that's what we told him, but he didn't seem to care" Harry replied.

After some days Artemis brought a letter from Hagrid, he asked us to come to his Hut because the egg was about to break, as soon as we all finished our breakfast, we all visited Hagrid's Hut.

"This is the egg" I said "see there are some crack already"

"Yeah" Hermione responded still staring at the egg

"Any time, the baby dragon'll be Outta it" Hagrid chuckled

"whatever it's still illegal Hagrid" said Hermione with her usual serious tone

"and your house is made of woods, are you seriously considering this" said Ron

"that's something big dangerous winged bird which breaths fire" added Harry

"it's a dragon" I just said for the sake of saying something , then suddenly the egg started cracking, we all started looking at it, patiently, then suddenly it popped and it didn't look cute, but Its spiny wings were huge compared to its skinny jet body, it had a long snout with wide nostrils, the stubs of horns and bulging, orange eyes, it coughed fire.

"We have herbology's class- Hermione started,

"shut up" said Ron.
