The sopping wet owl made its way into the Lestrange owlery. It had been a battle ever since Hogwarts, and the weather had not let up for even a moment during its long journey.
The twin letters within its talons were still as dry as they had been the moment the owl had received the letter, spelled with the standard charms to ensure that the contents were protected against any harm that could come to them.
A house elf appeared immediately after the owl had entered the peace that lay within the building. The owl was relieved of the letters and led to a perch near food and water, where the owl hooted at the house elf in gratitude.
The journey to the breakfast table was short and lasted only a few seconds. A single glance from the man who was seated at the head of the table, and the letters were placed back on the table without further enquiry. They had been expected. Their absence would have been more surprising.
"Rabastan. Rudolphus. Your Hogwarts letters are here," a perfectly placed loudening charm ensured that there was no reason for him to raise his voice.
The twin nearly measured footsteps were the only sounds that indicated their arrival, and excitement, for the twins. The twins entered the room with a grace that had been well trained into both of them, nearly since birth, their eyes, in a rare case, barely masked their pleasure and excitement at their letters.
Their parents' favourite threat had been that if they were stubborn or didn't listen, they wouldn't receive their Hogwarts letters. That would be the greatest embarrassment to their family, and neither twin would allow that.
The magic and blood that ran through their veins was powerful and pure. Their pureblood training had taught them that, as well as several other things that would ensure that they would always be above the mudbloods and filth that were also allowed to attend Hogwarts.
They would help change that. That was the promise they had made each other as midnight had passed that night. They would not allow everything their parents had always complained about to continue.
Especially with the whispers of a new Dark Lord among their families, the Dark Lord would be the man that they would follow not the muggle-loving fool of a Headmaster that currently ruled Hogwarts.
