Hagrid's nose wrinkled as he was forced to breathe in Fluffy's exhaled air. It smelt like decomposing meat and old blood that apparently hadn't been washed away from the last time Fluffy had eaten.

If Dumbledore wanted a protection, Fluffy's breath on its own would be enough to knock a man out…

But Hagrid didn't want to risk being knocked out himself, because that was where it would lead eventually and Hagrid wouldn't be able to take care of Fluffly if it got that bad. There wasn't anyone else in the castle with the knowledge of how to care for Fluffy anyway.

"Fluffy! How many times have I told you to finish your water?" Hagrid asked firmly as he spotted the barely touched water.

Fluffy whined, all six ears drooping unhappily.

"All right, all right. I'll let it go this time, but you have to finish your water next time!"

Fluffy's middle head came leaned over to lick Hagrid, forcing him back a few feet.

"That's my Fluffy!"
