Petunia had always liked her home clean and neat. Perhaps she was a bit of a perfectionist with the cleanliness of her home, but if she wasn't who would be? Her husband and child brought in the worst of the dirt, annoying her inner perfectionist to the ends of the earth.

Not that there was anything she could do about it though. Petunia could only clean a certain amount, at a speed that she was comfortable but not particularly happy with: the dirt entered her home faster than she could get it out.

Petunia sighed as she spotted the muddy boot prints that created a path through the door and up the stairs. She absolutely hated when it rained, because the mud was an absolute nightmare.

The doorbell rang, and Petunia felt a growing sense of horror at the uncleaned stains. She couldn't possibly be rude and not answer, but neither did she want anyone to see the mud!

Another series of raps against the door drew Petunia towards it. The woman standing beyond the door looked severe, however with that Petunia noticed a neatness, a perfection, that she could admire. Not a hair stuck out of place, and the woman's clothing was neatly pressed.

"Mrs Dursley, I presume?"

Receiving a nod, the woman continued. "My name is Minerva McGonagall, and I am here to deliver a Hogwarts letter to Mister Potter. It would have been sent by owl, however, I've found hand delivering them, though tedious, is a lot less messy."

It wasn't circumstances that Petunia found to her liking, but she could appreciate the effort.
