Snow Day!:
The kids woke up refreshed, grateful that they didn't have classes that day. Thank goodness for winter break! And as the students looked outside, their joy only increased.
"Snow! The first snow!" Mina Ashido cried as she ran out of the elevator and out the door, taking in the cold, fresh air. "It's so beautiful!"
"Ashido, come back in here before you catch a cold!" Ida demanded, sipping a hot mug of coffee as he dragged his classmate back inside.
"We have to go out there today! It looks deep enough! Who's with me?" Mina proclaimed, looking around at the still tired gazes of her peers.
"Come on, Mina, let us wake up first," Sero replied.
"I think it would be fun! We could even have hot chocolate afterward!" Hagakure chimed in.
"We can always do that without going outside," Bakugou grumbled
"But we can make snowmen! And have snowball fights! WE COULD GO ICE SKATING!" Mina proclaimed.
"Alright, alright, I'm in. Just let us get ready, sheesh." Denki Kaminari replied, trying to rub the sleepiness from his eyes.
Mina cheered and ran upstairs, probably getting prepared to bundle up. The kids got ready one by one, getting dressed in their warmest clothes. As they slid on their gloves and wrapped their scarves around their necks, a childlike joy filled their minds. They thought about Mina's words and slowly got excited, trying to think of enough ideas to do in the snow. Soon enough, the entire class was gathered outside, ready to brave the cold for a bit of winter fun.
Some of the girls had already started the task of building snowmen. Each was rolling out a base.
"Come on guys, we're gonna have a snowman building competition! Whoever builds the best one wins!" Ochaco exclaimed.
The kids dispersed, some forming teams and others working on their own to create the perfect snowman. Only Todoroki stood by, watching as his friends let their creative minds wander.
"Todoroki, why aren't you building anything?" Izuku Midoriya asked his friend as he helped Ochaco heft the midsection onto the snowman.
"I...I've never built a snowman before," Todoroki mumbled, refusing to meet his eyes.
"What? Never?" Kirishima pressed, his eyes widening.
Todoroki shook his head.
"Guys...WE GOTTA HELP TODOROKI!" Kirishima proclaimed, walking over to his friend and assembling the base. Todoroki stepped back in shock.
"It's really okay. It's not like I need to build one or anything."
"Of course you do! This is an essential part of winter! I can't believe you haven't ever built one! You haven't even tried using your ice quirk?
"My dad never let me." Todoroki frowned. "I was always too busy training."
"Well, nothing's stopping you now!" Kaminari smiled, jumping in to help Kirishima.
Todoroki managed a small smile before kneeling down in the snow and packing down the base. The other boys started assembling the middle. Before long, each kid was adding their own accessories to their creations. Sticks turned into spiky hair and leftover leaves from the fall turned into necklaces. Some even took off their own layers to add a bit of pizazz to their snowmen.
"Mind if she joins you?" Aizawa's low voice interrupted their building. Eri poked out from behind him, and he ushered her out into the open. The girls let out a fit of squeals at the little girl's outfit. She wore fluffy white snow boots and pants with a puffy red coat. Her scarf seemed to match Aizawa's, and she wore a black hat with cat ears (compliments of Aizawa). She timidly looked around at everyone, and they smiled reassuringly at her.
"Of course! We were just making snowmen. Would you like to be the judge, Eri? Everyone's about done." Izuku smiled and reached out his hand. She grabbed on and nodded.
"Make sure she doesn't get into any trouble. This is the first real snow she's ever seen, and I want to make the best of it." Aizawa said, making the kids frown. This poor girl hadn't even seen snow?
"Take your time choosing. There's a lot, huh?" Izuku said, guiding her through the maze of snowmen. She looked at them all with wide eyes.
"I like this one." She finally said, pointing at Momo's snowman. The teen must have used her quirk for this because the snowman was decked out in some amazing gear, from a puffy purple scarf to a white sun hat to golden buttons down its middle.
"Yeah, it's really pretty. I agree." Izuku said. "Great choice, Eri." The other kids groaned in disappointment, some mumbling about how Momo cheated. Momo quickly defended herself by saying there was no rule saying you couldn't use your quirk.
"Don't worry Eri, it was a great pick!" Ochaco said, and Eri showed a timid smile. Kneeling down to her level, Ochaco asked, "Is there anything you've ever wanted to do in the snow, Eri? Anything specific?"
Eri pondered, cocking her head to the side as she thought. She shrugged.
"What about making a snow angel? It's really easy." Ochaco said, falling back. Eri skittered to her side, concerned until she heard Ochaco giggle.
"You just have to move your arms and legs like this and gently get up." She said, demonstrating to the pale-haired girl. Eri looked down at Ochaco's handiwork.
"Do you want to try?" Izuku asked.
"Sure" Eri answered, falling slowly into the snow. " She moved her arms and legs back and forth until she decided it was enough. Izuku helped lift her up and she compared it to Ochaco's. She thought it was pretty good. Smaller, but good all the same.
"That's an awesome snow angel!" Tsuyu beamed, patting Eri on the head.
"Thank you." Eri mustered.
"You know what would be really fun? Ice skating. Do you want to try that, Eri?" Ochaco asked.
"Um...sure." The little girl replied. "I don't know how though."
"Don't worry, I'm sure we can help you." Tsuyu reassured.
"Can...can Mr. Aizawa come?" Eri asked.
"Why don't you go ask him?" Izuku smiled, gesturing to the dorm. She struggled to step through the deep snow but somehow managed to make it inside. The kids laughed with amusement.
"Hey Todoroki, mind making an ice rink?" Ochaco called out.
"Uh...I guess." Todoroki shrugged, isolating himself from the group before layering the ground with ice.
"Momo, can you make some skates? Please?" Mina asked, a slight pout forming.
"Sure. I'll just need some food to keep my energy up. Would someone be able to get me something please?" Momo asked.
"I got ya covered!" Kirishima exclaimed before rushing to the dorm, tripping in the snow as he did so.
As Momo started creating skates for all of them, Aizawa stepped out with Eri, holding her hand as he helped her through the deep snow. He was bundled up in all black and had a matching cat hat. The kids had to resist the urge to gawk at the cuteness.
"Making an ice rink, huh?" The teacher muttered, grabbing Eri's skates from Momo. He helped her get them on and then got his own. "I'll help you, don't worry." He walked her out onto the ice and held her tight so she wouldn't fall. Her red eyes widened with fear as she slipped, but Aizawa helped her up and she was put at ease. Before the kids knew it, Aizawa was helping her skate, Eri smiling along the way. And surprisingly, Aizawa was smiling too.
The kids soon got out on the ice, giggling at those who fell down. Bakugou slipped and fell, only to snarl at Izuku for trying to help him up. He brushed himself off and started skating again, the rest of the Bakusquad taunting him for his clumsiness.
The next thing they knew, Mina had thrown a snowball at Kaminari, knocking him off balance and straight into Jiro, who was skating not too far away. They both fell with a thud.
"Oh, you're so dead!" Kaminari yelled, reaching over in the snow and forming the perfect snowball. He chucked it at Mina, but the agile girl moved out of the way just in time, and it slammed into Bakugou's face. Kaminari froze, his heart racing a mile a minute as he looked into the flaring red eyes of Katsuki Bakugou. He looked back in pure rage.
"Prepare...to...DIE!" Bakugou screamed, grabbing a fistful of snow and using his quirk to propel himself into Kaminari. He shoved the snow into his face and Kaminari screamed from the cold.
The other kids joined in, getting off the ice and throwing snowballs at one another once they were safely off their skates. Todoroki even joined in on the fun, making snowballs materialize in his right hand and throwing them at his classmates with extreme accuracy.
"Todoroki no fair!" Mina giggled as she got hit in the back.
"All is fair in love and snowball fights." He said, obviously enjoying the fun. He'd never had a snowball fight before and he intended to make this one count.
Eri cowered behind Aizawa, terrified over the fact that the loving students she once knew were now attacking one another. Aizawa patted her head. "It's okay, Eri. They're just playing." He scooped up some snow and formed it into a ball. "Why don't you take a shot." He pointed to Izuku.
"Hey Deku," Eri called out. The green-haired boy turned around, and Eri chucked the snowball right into his chest. He froze in surprise and then broke out into a fit of laughter.
"Nice shot, Eri." He smiled, and Eri smiled back.
The great snowball war went on for a little longer, some kids being buried in the snow after taking too many hits. But eventually, everyone got too cold to continue, the shots of snow to their faces burning their skin. They each drifted back into the heated dorm, peeling their jackets and gloves off to dry.
"Who wants hot chocolate?" Sato asked, holding up a large pot, and the kids swarmed the poor student. He forced them to wait in a single file, filling up their empty mugs with the warm beverage. The kids sipped the chocolatey goodness with delight.
"Did you like the snow, Eri?" Izuku asked.
"Uh-huh. It was cold, but it wasn't a bad cold. I loved every moment." She said, licking her lips to get the excess chocolate.
"I'm glad." Izuku smiled, forcing himself to bury his tears.
The kids laughed together, all warming up after the long hours in the snow. But each student was content. Bakugou got revenge for a snowball to the face. Momo was now a pro at snowman making. Todoroki had his first fun time in the snow. Everything seemed right in the world. And as they continued to enjoy one another's company, they hoped they could grasp onto these moments for just a little longer.
AN: Thank you so much for reading Chapter 2! I'm really hoping to include more Dadzawa moments in my stories (I absolutely love him). Once again, if you have any constructive criticism, don't be afraid to share it! Also, I'm totally open to hearing any opinions or ideas you have for future one-shots! :)
