Bet on It:

"Alright, my lovable idiots. 1,000 yen says that you can't go a day without using your quirk." Mina Ashido said, laying the currency out on the floor. Her friends smiled.

"Seriously, Ashido, give us a challenge." Hanta Sero replied, stacking the money on top of hers.

"I'm in." Denki Kaminari exclaimed.

"Me too!" Eijiro Kirishima added.

"You all are idiots. Like heck I'd ever agree to something as stupid as that." Katsuki Bakugou rolled his eyes.

"You're just scared you're gonna lose." Kaminari taunted.

The explosive boy slammed his money down on the ground. "You really wanna doubt me? I'll kick all of your butts!" He fumed.

"Great! We'll start tomorrow. Whoever's left standing will be the winner. No exceptions. You use your quirk in any way, and you're out." Mina declared, whipping her arms out wide for emphasis.

"You're on. Prepare to lose!" Kaminari laughed.

"Like you're gonna win." Sero scoffed.

"It's not like you have a chance either, Sero."

"Everyone knows it's gonna be me," Mina interjected.

"Alright, alright guys, let's settle this tomorrow. For now, we should all get some rest." Kirishima said, pushing apart his feuding classmates.

"Yeah. Old man Kacchan has to get his rest." Kaminari snickered. The other kids giggled.

"What's wrong with going to bed early? Maybe you guys should try it sometime!" Bakugou sneered.

The kids erupted into even more laughter. Bakugou stormed away, hands clenched into fists. "Idiots." He muttered under his breath.

"But seriously, guys, we need to get to bed. Aizawa-sensei probably going to come up with some grueling training for us and we need our rest." Kirishima stated.

"I guess I can't take a nap during math class again. My grades can't take it." Kaminari shuddered.

"See ya tomorrow guys. May the best man...or woman, win." Sero said, yawning as he got up.

"I plan to." The three replied simultaneously. They glared at each other with a competitive fire. Tomorrow would determine who had to depend on their quirk the least. And each was ready to prove their strength.

As planned, the bet started the following morning. The members of the Bakusquad met each other's gaze, ready to face what might be the biggest bet they had placed yet. Let the games begin!

They strutted into Class 1-A, chests puffed as they sat down. Anything to establish dominance against their opponents. Only Bakugou remained the same, scoffing at the absurdity of his friends. "Idiots," he muttered again.

"Alright kids, let's get started." Aizawa entered the room, the bags under his eyes darker than usual. It practically screamed that he would be taking a nap at some point in the middle of the lesson. "Let's start with some simple grammatical statements, shall we?"

...

After many boring lessons in grammar, math, and English, the kids were finally allowed to go to the cafeteria to enjoy some of Lunch Rush's delectable food. Their stomachs growled as they neared the area, the sweet aroma of food making them hungrier with each step.

They quickly gave their requests to the hero and he obliged, going to the kitchen to prepare their food. They waited in anticipation. Once they finally got their lunches, Mina, Kaminari, and Sero sat down at a table, digging into the delightful food.

"Hey, Kaminari! Do you mind charging my phone? I forgot to charge it last night." Ochaco said sheepishly, coming up to the blonde. He smiled back at her.

"Of course!" Kaminari replied, taking the phone from her. He quickly swallowed his food and stuck the cord in his mouth. His friends looked at him with wide eyes, waiting for the charge notification to start. A moment later, Ochaco's phone lit up, displaying the battery sign.

"IT COUNTS!" Mina yelped, sticking her finger in his face. "YOU LOST THE BET!" Kaminari immediately spit the charger out of his mouth.

"NO WAIT! I WAS BEING NICE!" Kaminari exclaimed.

"IT COUNTS!" Sero joined in, taunting his friend.

"No!" Kaminari buried his head in his arms, the heat of embarrassment rushing to his face. Was he really that stupid?

"I can't believe you lasted this long, Denki! I thought you would have forgotten the moment you woke up." Mina snickered.

"I almost did. I nearly used my quirk to help blow dry my hair this morning." The boy groaned underneath his arms, his statements coming out muffled.

"Aww, poor baby. Don't worry, your money will be put to good use." Mina said, patting her friend's head. He sighed in despair.

"YOU FREAKING IDIOT! LOOK WHAT YOU DID!"

The kids turned to look at Bakugou, who stood with katsudon smeared down his uniform. Izuku Midoriya stood facing him, an empty bowl in his hands.

"I'm really, really sorry Kacchan. I didn't mean to bump into you. I swear!" The freckled boy stuttered, trying to collect the food with his napkins. "I can go get a wet cloth or something. Just wait..."

"You trying to embarrass me, ya nerd? Just wait till I…"

"Bakugou enough, he said he was sorry, okay?" Kirishima intervened, trying to push his friend away from Izuku. Bakugou stood his ground.

"No way. He's gotta pay for what he did." Bakugou raised a hand, snarling.

"No way, man. Not here." Kirishima pleaded.

"P-please Kacchan. I'm sorry. I mean it! Just let me help you!" Izuku cried, wiping at his clothes with the napkins.

"I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!" Bakugou yelled, lunging for the boy. A sputter of light erupted from his hand. Before anyone knew it, Kirishima was blocking Izuku, his arm hardened to protect him from the oncoming blow.

"That's enough, Bakugou. You're just upset because you're hungry. Take off your messy jacket and eat some food. Leave everyone else out of it." Kirishima scolded, shoving Bakugou back. Bakugou mumbled something under his breath and walked towards the table where the rest of his friends sat. After giving a sincere apology to Izuku, Kirishima joined them.

"So this probably isn't the best time but...you guys both lost the bet!" Mina cheered, laughing while her two friends sat in shock.

"You're kidding, right?" Kirishima said, brow furrowed.

"Nope! You both used your quirks back there. Subtle as it may be, it happened. And we said absolutely no exceptions!" Mina exclaimed, crossing her arms.

"Like I care. It's not like I spent a ton of money." Bakugou rolled his eyes, shoveling food into his mouth.

"Oh well. Rules are rules." Kirishima shrugged, digging into his juicy steak after giving thanks.

"That leaves me and Sero," Mina said, making eye contact with her last competitor.

"May the best hero win," Sero smirked, accepting the oncoming challenge.

"So I think you've had enough regular school work for today," Aizawa said as the class settled back down in their seats. "So today, we will be working on our ultimate moves again. Make your way to the training facility."

The kids started to file out of the classroom, and the Bakusquad eyed each other with intrigue. We'll be forced to use our quirks. I wonder who will cave first. They thought. Sero and Mina kept glancing at one another competitively, determined to be the winner.

As they entered the training building, Cementoss created their own special areas. The kids dispersed, Mina and Sero standing on two platforms directly next to each other. Their other friends weren't far away.

"Dang, this is gonna be interesting," Kirishima said, allowing his arms to harden as he tried to think of new moves. Maybe a cool blade hand or something?

"My money's on Mina." Kaminari shrugged, triggering his quirk. Electricity coursed through his veins.

"Idiots. Just focus on your training." Bakugou scoffed, throwing a punch at an Ectoplasm copy.

Sero and Mina continued their staredown, each refusing to use their quirks. Their exasperated teacher soon tired of their antics.

"Ashido and Sero, if you don't start training, you'll receive a zero on this assignment. I suggest you get started." Ectoplasm said to both of them, and drops of sweat accumulated on their foreheads. The thought of getting a buttload of cash was tempting, but would they really risk failing for money? Finally, one of them caved.

"That's it. I forfeit." Sero threw his hands up in the air, unable to handle the thought of getting a failing grade for a stupid bet.

"YES! I WIN!" Mina cheered, beaming with pride.

"Yeah, yeah, now start working. Unless you want even worse grades than you already have. I did us both a favor." Sero smirked, releasing some tape from his elbows.

"Right. Thanks for that." Mina said sarcastically, letting out a small giggle.

Sero rolled his eyes and smiled. "You're obnoxious sometimes, you know that right?"

"Oh I know, but I'm a winner, which totally makes up for it."

"So what are you even going to do with the money?" Kaminari called out, throwing a jolt of electricity at the clone.

"Oh, I'm going shopping. I've needed some new clothes for a while and now I've got some extra change." Mina gasped. "Maybe I'll get some SHOES!" She tried focusing her acid in tiny waves out of her fingers. "One can never have enough shoes."

The boys groaned. Out of all the things she could do with the money, of course she would go clothes shopping.

"You three! Last warning; stop socializing. You can talk to your friends later, but now is the time to develop your quirks!" Ectoplasm scolded.

The kids quickly returned to their training, anxiously waiting for another chance to show off their skills in another crazy bet. Who knew what future chances would hold? And who would be the richest in the end? They couldn't wait to find out.

AN: Thank you so much to huntdaddy for giving the suggestion for this story! I had a really fun time trying to think about how the kids would lose the bet, and this is the final product. I know I always say this, but I'm always up for constructive criticism to make my writing more enjoyable. I would also love to hear your opinions about future stories! Thank you so much for reading!
