Eri: Professional Hair Stylist and Beautician:
It all started on the day that Eri saw Momo doing her hair one morning. She had decided to switch it up and put in a braid, and the process mesmerized the little girl.
"How do you do that?" She breathed.
Momo met her eyes and smiled. "Oh, you want to see how to braid hair? I'll teach you quick."
She sat the young girl down on a common room couch and undid her new hairdo. "You start off with three pieces." She divided her hair. "Then, you need to cross each edge over the middle. You keep doing that until you run out of hair. See?" She weaved the intricate pattern in her hair, and Eri's eyes widened.
"Can you do that to my hair?" She asked, her eyes pleading. "I want to look pretty."
"Sure! But you're already pretty." Momo said, dividing Eri's hair into three equal pieces. Eri waited expectantly, her smile widening with each passing moment. Finally, Momo was done. She created a mirror and let Eri admire her handiwork.
"I love it," Eri exclaimed.
"Do you want to try braiding my hair?" Momo asked.
"Is that okay?"
"Of course! It's always good to practice!"
"O-okay." Eri split Momo's hair into three parts and tried braiding, only to have the ebony locks slip out of her tiny fingers.
"It's okay. Try again!" Momo encouraged, waiting patiently as Eri tried to figure it out. After a couple of aggravating attempts, Eri was finally able to finish the braid.
"Great job! See, it just takes practice!" Momo smiled before getting up and leaving to hang out with her friends. Eri took her own pale hair and practiced, slowly improving each time.
"Whatcha doing, Eri?" Izuku asked. He sat down next to her on the couch.
"I'm learning how to braid," Eri replied.
"You're getting really good! Maybe you can show Nejire later. I bet she'd love it." Izuku smiled.
"Yeah…" Eri thought. Maybe she could show Mirio too. Then, an idea came to her. "Do you think I could do your hair?" She asked.
Izuku froze. "Uh...I think my hair is too short for that, Eri. It would be kinda boring if you tried braiding my hair."
Eri pouted for a second before remembering something. "Wait here." She said, rushing out of the common room. Izuku obliged, scrolling through his phone until Eri came back to sit with him. She held a box in her hands, excitement sparkling in her eyes.
"I have some clips I could put in your hair. Mr. Aizawa and Nejire gave them to me, but I haven't been able to use them yet." She opened the box to reveal quite the assortment of hair accessories. Clips came in designs from Hello Kitty to flowers. Colorful hair ties littered the box.
"Oh...okay then," Izuku said reluctantly. He knew it would be embarrassing, especially once his friends saw his hair, but he didn't want to disappoint Eri. He would do everything in his power to make her smile.
Eri quickly got to work, putting clip after clip into his hair. Her eyebrows furrowed as she got lost in concentration. She took a few of his green locks and put them up in mini ponytails. After a couple of minutes, she stood back and admired her handiwork.
"All done." Eri proclaimed as she held a mirror up to Izuku. Izuku tried to stifle his laugh and smiled brightly at her instead.
"I love it, Eri. Thank you." He said before starting to take a clip out of his hair.
"You're...not going to keep it in your hair?" Eri said, her lips curling into a frown.
"Oh, uh...of course, I'll keep it in! It's just that...this clip was pulling at my hair and it hurt my scalp!" Izuku lied.
"Oh. Okay." Eri said, her timid smile returning.
"Hey Deku...oh! I'm loving the hair." Ochaco said, letting out a slight chuckle.
"Eri did it for me. Isn't it amazing?" Izuku asked, casting Ochaco a "you better say something nice about it" look.
"Oh. Eri, it looks wonderful! Do you think you could do my hair as well? Deku's making me a little jealous." Ochaco said, coming to sit next to Eri.
"Sure!" Eri exclaimed. She took a piece of Ochaco's hair and started to braid. It fell apart the first time, but she managed to finish the second time through. She finished it off with a hair tie and moved on, letting the braid frame Ochaco's face. She then moved on to putting clips in her hair, favoring pink over any other color. When she was finally done, Ochaco had two braids around her face and clips holding back the rest of her hair. She smiled when Eri held the mirror up to her.
"I absolutely love it, Eri. Thank you! Now Deku and I match." Ochaco exclaimed.
"You're going to keep it in, right?" Eri asked.
"Of course! I'll keep it in for as long as possible. I want to show it off to all of my friends!" Ochaco beamed, and Izuku started to smile. I guess he didn't have to worry about Uraraka. She was really good when it came to Eri. She always knew how to make her smile.
"Well, Deku and I have to go. Some of our friends are going to the mall today. But we'll see you later, okay?" Ochaco said, getting up from the couch.
"Oh. Okay." Eri said, trying not to show her sadness in front of the pair.
"We won't be long. I promise." Izuku said, giving her a pat on the head. "Maybe you can play with Tsu's hair when we get back. She has a lot of hair to braid."
"Okay," Eri said, a slight smile returning to her face.
Izuku and Ochaco left with their friend group, leaving Eri alone on the couch. She looked around, but everyone else seemed busy with their own activities. She didn't want to be a bother.
She got up and went to Mr. Aizawa's room. Maybe he would let her practice braiding on his hair. She opened the door and saw him sitting on the floor, the glow of his phone slightly illuminating his face. As she looked closer, she saw that he was watching cat videos.
"Mr. Aizawa?" Eri said, startling the poor teacher.
"Oh, Eri. What do you need?" Aizawa shut off his phone and put it in his pocket, giving the little girl his full attention.
"W-would you mind if I did your hair? Momo taught me how to braid earlier and I want to practice." Eri gave a timid smile.
Aizawa paused for a minute. "Isn't there anyone else you can ask?"
"Everyone else seems busy. I don't want to be a bother."
Aizawa sighed. "Okay, kiddo." He said, getting up to retrieve a brush. He sat back down in front of her and let her start her masterpiece. She brushed out his unruly hair and then pinned a couple of pieces back with Hello Kitty clips. She thought he would like that since he loved kitties so much. Then, she started on a braid towards the back of his head and sealed it off with a small red hair tie. She then gathered up all of his hair into a ponytail and sealed it off before going back to decorating his hair with clips. He waited patiently until she was done, sitting as still as possible so the little girl didn't have any extra problems while doing his hair. After a while, Eri finally gave him a mirror to examine her handiwork.
"Wow, Eri. This is really good." Aizawa said.
"I even gave you Hello Kitty clips since you love kitties." Eri beamed.
Aizawa let out a soft chuckle. "Well, that was very kind of you."
"Are you going to keep it in?"
Aizawa paused for a moment. "Of course, Eri. Why would I even think about taking this out?" He reluctantly said. Once his students saw this, he would never hear the end of it. He didn't even want to think about what the faculty would say. But that smile on the little girl's face would make all of those snarky comments worth it.
"SHOOOTAAA! I have a question about this week's curriculum...what's up with your hair?" Present Mic burst into the room.
"Eri did my hair. I think it looks very nice." Aizawa scowled. The last thing he needed was Present Mic seeing him like this.
"Hold on...Eri, you were doing hair...AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?" Present Mic exclaimed. "I want my hair to look nice too! Can you style my hair even better than Aizawa's?"
"Sure!" Eri smiled, guiding the blonde man to sit down beside Aizawa.
"What do you think you're doing?" Aizawa hissed.
"Hey, I know how to deal with kids. Besides, there's no way the kids are going to stay quiet about this unless there are a ton of teachers involved. You better text Kayama about this." Present Mic whispered back.
"Right," Aizawa said, whipping out his phone to text Midnight. This little girl needed a lot of support right now. He had to make sure that she had everyone rooting for her. He would make sure that she would keep that smile.
AN: Hello wonderful readers! I am so so sorry I took longer than normal to update. It has been so hard trying to get creative juices flowing in my brain. I've also started posting chapters for another story and I have a one-shot on the way (for another fandom), so my mind is kinda going crazy at the moment. Thank you for bearing with me! :)
