Chapter 46: A score to settle.
~Life is the art of drawing without an eraser
The mansion was silent, and the silence seemed deadly sometimes to the one who was living there, none other than Kai Hiwatari.
Do you think you could try and
Tell me what's got you hiding?
What's all on your mind when you can't sleep
I can see that you're holding
Holding back and not showing
He sipped the coffee as he read the text messages of Ray telling him how China was after he reached. Ray flew to his hometown after the tournament was over. Probably he was living with Lee temporarily, Mariah to accompany, so why not?
Kai sighed and laid on his large king-sized bed and stared at the titanium white ceiling. His young self was feeling tired, monotonous tiredness lazily radiating in his serene amethyst orbs, and a small frown itself coming on his forehead.
'Why didn't he participate ... What was the reason? It's so unlike of him.' He was restless, feeling on the edge.
I've seen better days
Sometimes life's hard to take
It gets hard to face it all alone
His thoughts rested at Tyson as why he didn't participate in the tournament. 'Did Max, Daichi and Tyson planned it all?' He mused unstoppably about the tournament of that day; that one day which he had waited for years and all he got was a lousy waited title, JUST because Tyson couldn't come. Kai felt furious even when he was declared as Champion of Year 2021, despite his fans cheering enthusiastically, congratulating him tumultuously.
Hmm... His face puckered in past thoughts,
He haven't seen Max and Daichi since the tournament. They seemed so guilty and hesitant to participate in the tournament. Kai knew that he was responsible for Max's guilt. And Max's guilt was legit because he had been suffering the burden hiding all truths since too long.
Kai looked at the sky calmly.
The sky was dark, shade of prussian blue, starless with vague clouds attempting to hover it. There was no breezes, just the stillness, and a large silent garden in front of him he could see, protected by his guards.
He couldn't believe and neither he wanted to believe, but some sort of guilt had been now filing him up and he hated this new realizations. His good side of the heart seemed to be awakened. He didn't want to look at the past and see his mistakes and misdeeds. He just want to forget, ignore, not remember them anymore and move on!
He shook his head, juddering, and got up. He got a call from Voltaire's financial manager that he didn't inherit complete company as a heir; someone else also had a share as per the Will given by his grandfather. That perturbed him a little but he was looking ahead tonight for that person and the manager to visit the mansion tonight.
Few hours later, the intercom buzzed. He blinked tiredly and picked up. He was informed about the guests he had downstairs in foyer waiting. He walked down to the large hall downstairs through the bifurcated curved staircase.
His figure froze when his eyes landed on the person he least expected there.
'Rose...?'
The brunette in her early twenties looks around fazed and non-chalant. Her deep carob brown curls were alluringly dancing stealthily as she looked around innocently, her large pools containing some obscure magnetic pull.
You looked into my eyes
Your face I'd memorized
Didn't say a word but you felt like home
He walked down and stared at the old man called as manager who was holding a small suite.
"Good evening Kai," he wishes,
"Good evening," Kai says reluctantly, keeping a sharp eye contact with Rose.
Rose blinks at him as she's not sure what she must say, the mix of innocence of culpability on her face he should have for her makes her look unfathomable and cryptic.
"Is it her who owes half of the Hiwatari Enterprises and will be working alongside me?" Kai asks almost in blustery tone,
Rose's dark black eyes narrows, yet she doesn't say anything,
"Yes, it's her. Her name is Rose Saber, your new business partner," The manager says, "You may look at the legal papers, the Will says so. It was said to me before your Grandfather passed out." He says formally and tries to appease,
"Show me," Kai says almost unbelievably.
Once he flips brashly the papers and is convinced that it's not a trap or deceit, he gives a cold scowl and sits with a thump on the sofa.
Rose looks at the manager, and frowns worriedly.
"Um, Kai, I look forward having coordination with you as we work." She says bluntly but it looks like she's trying to be soft.
"Can we talk for a while?" Kai looks at the old man, who nods and walk away leaving Rose tensed.
She looks at him, thinking.
"Why have you come here?" He says staring stark at her,
She stands up, angry, tired of the insulting behavior,
"Look Kai, I'm in need of work and I rightfully owe half of the company, so there's no way I'm backing off because of you." She says warning him, but in a mediocre fine tone, "And you better be kind a little because I'm in no mood at this point of life to deal with complicated people," she says, her fidgeting fingers removing the tresses of her hair from sides,
"I'm not complicated. Might be it's you," he says, "And why have my Grandfather made you heir as well?" He asks indignantly.
"How would you know? You weren't even there in his last times," she gives a painful abrupt laugh.
"Were you-" his eyes twitches,
"Yeah, because he'd no one to take care of him. I and Jake worked as employees in the company and we supported him during his health issues and served him. He changed the Will because of that, maybe." Rose said accusingly.
"YOU," Kai pointed a finger in her direction with fierce glare, "Were just a employee, not his granddaughter. Don't teach me what I'd have done," he says sharply in dangerous voice,
"I was the employee, now I'm not. Take care of your bullshit attitude," she said sharply, snapping at him "Anyway, why am I arguing with you? You probably didn't even realize that you're my culprit even today," She said hopelessly with shake of her lips,
"Rose," he said jadedly with heavy tone, "I didn't kill your brother, can't you get it?" Kai says softly but deeply,
"No, you are his culprit." She protests bravely, "I'm being kind to you only because you've lost your grandfather, somehow that must be hurting you. I don't want to be harsh further," she says calmly and turns.
'It doesn't hurt, not at all... But,'
If the music starts to fade
And this feeling slips away
Don't wake me when you go
'Cause I don't wanna know
"Maybe its not even you who have been the cause of my distressed states ever since Mike died." She said staring at the ground in maelstrom, pitch deep regrets shooting her, "It's my attachment and persistent love for my brother which has not let me forget him even today. I miss him," her deep black eyes were lifeless for second. Kai felt worried a little, he never intended to take Mike's life.
"Rose..." Kai opened his mouth to say something, "I'm really sorry," Pausing and sighing, he said, "Maybe I'm wrong even when I don't feel so, but if that's hurting you, then I'm really sorry," He said with tensed brows, feeling very weird, because he doesn't remember saying sorry or feeling sorry.
She looked at him, still thinking about his words, if he meant it, "I'm not sure if I can forgive you, but I'll try." She said wearily and took her purse. He nodded, little confounded.
"You killed him!" Rose snarled, tears slowing like rain through her cheeks, "What would have you lost if you'd just once lost that battle to him! My brother would have been alive today!" she bawled,
"You know what, to be honest, I really don't feel you regret right now of what you've done to Mike. Just hear me, I will NEVER forgive you. I'm tired of this hatred feeling for you eating my own sanity through the years," she said weakly, her voice still fumed up,
..
That was probably the fine conversation he had with her, because after that, they kept formal distance and talks during meetings and interactions in the company quarters and there was nothing more to it. He made sure he didn't leave more part of work on her and his attitude didn't pester her- that was the least he could do to get her forgiveness.
Days passed and his monotonous life continued, and Rose talked to him sometimes, just for a minute or two.
"I think I'll leave now," she said and walked away.
Kai took his coat and followed, it felt cold out.
"Uh, Rose," he called her as she was a little far away, checking her car, "I forgot to say," he approached her, "We've to fly to Austin next week, has to discuss regarding the new shareholders there," he said,
"Oh," she said, "Just send me the ticket,"
"Yeah sure," he said and got to his car.
.
.
.
Kai went to his mansion, and after a peacefully alone dinner, he took a warm bath and drowned into a deep sleep. It felt so lonely. He was alone in a large mansion. Of course the servants and guards were there too, but that still didn't satisfy him. At first when he had come here, he could feel the independence, comfort, luxurious life he had got so finely, with no Voltaire at all. But still... the memories haunted him. He had seen his own parents here once. They loved him so much. He was a little kid and so happy like never after. It was all so empty and lifeless without them.
And I hope that somehow my soul will calm down
As I learn to pronounce the language I betrayed
As I sweat from my brow and decipher these vowels
May I comprehend doubt with thoughts that never stayed
He had locked up the dark memories of abbey somewhere deep inside his brain, but staying here, everything came in spurts, crashing down to make him feel bruised once more and abused. He knew that Boris was still rotting behind bars and nothing would happen, but somehow...rarely, those events replayed in his mind and he just didn't know what was happening.
What am I doing? Why am I messing my life so idiotically!
His life was messed. And he just didn't know what he should do about this. At this point, his eyes would turn glassy, his lips would twist angrily, regretfully and he would feel like to shoot down this moment. The empty feeling had created havoc with him and his demons.
Nights kept on passing. Days flew up and finally a week later, they flew to Austin. He felt better, because Rose was there to accompany him and he could himself distracted very finely, because manor did no good to him. It shot him with all the bitter truths about him and his life he was not ready to hear still.
Rose and Kai stayed in hotel rooms till the next morning came up,
"The meeting will be within an hour, meet me at car place soon," he called her,
"I'm coming."
The meeting went a little hot headed and Kai got tempered a little, Rose appeased him and tried convincing the shareholders which partly worked and the things got unsatisfactory sorted abruptly. They stood up and walked. Rose sighed,
"I think we should leave now," Rose sighed. Kai got up and left angrily. Rose slowly followed.
They walked on the backside of the large building, on the soft grass and Kai was a little upset about the shares,
"Hey, it will be okay," she said. He didn't reply and even in such a peaceful weather, they walked lazily.
"Kai, are you going to hotel room?" She asked softly. He gave a nod.
"I just feel like going out to some park. If you don't mind, I'll just leave," she said. Kai thought for a second,
"Let's go together in my car," Kai said.
"Okay," she nodded.
They headed to the park and it was silent short journey. Kai liked one thing about Rose was that she didn't speak much and spoke only what was required as finely and gently as it could be. He didn't like talkative persons anyway. Hilary was a past exception.
"I'll park the car, you get in," he said. She strode out and headed inside the park. She was amazed to see kids playing, young couples, few blading in bey-dishes.
She took a seat, simply enjoying the view in front of her.
Kai came and joined her. He gave a pack of chips to her and sat beside. She smiled and silently thanked.
He was quiet happy about the fact that she didn't suddenly accused him these days about Mike, that was the biggest relief.
"Kai, shall I say you something?" She asked calmly,
"Hn,"
"I have forgiven you. About Mike," she said calmly, no change of her serenely dull face.
Kai looked at her, a small frown taking him over, "Thanks, Rose," he said gently.
She gave a nod. The fresh breezes blew over them.
"Rose, you wanna friendly bey battle with me?" He asked. She eyed him and nodded. They walked over the empty beydish.
"Its Dranzer, right?" She asked,
"Yep. Yours is Beutiquer, right?" Kai asked
"Yep,"
The battle went smooth and lasted for few minutes, both just enjoying the friendly match. Rose lost easily and yet, she just smiled at him with a little laugh, "Congrats, Champ," She said. Kai felt a jolt at the title.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot," he said.
They were walking away from the beydish, when a thunderous clash of blade halted their steps.
Kai quickly recognized the blade. 'Pribnow...'
Kai searched for Lyan frantically.
Rose looked a perturbed little.
"Kai, just let's just leave!" Rose said despite her foot that bled. Kai frowned at the sight.
"No, you just go from here," Kai said, because he had a score to settle with Lyan.
"What are you saying," she said, engulfed in the sudden heavy storm that started, driving everyone out. They rushed out in mayhem.
Lyan appeared and the storm died down slowly, "You?" He asked,
Kai just gave a glare. Rose looked worried.
"I've no interest in battling you, Kai. I've already defeated you twice, if you've remembered," Lyan said in a smug smirk, "I'm here for Julyan, who escaped after eating my precious cake," he annoyingly looked around.
"And in your search, you've hurt someone's else's foot," Kai hissed angrily.
Rose breathed tiredly, and was waiting for to go quickly. She didn't want to leave Kai alone because she remembered that Lyan defeated Kai in stadium once.
"Whose foot?" Lyan looked at Kai's fine shoes. Kai pointed out Rose's bleeding foot. She blinked worriedly.
"Uh hu, I'm sorry, dear lady," Lyan smiled smugly.
"You'll pay for that," Kai took out his blade and launcher, "Dranzer!"
"Kai, no!" Rose shouted, but Kai didn't stop.
"Pribnow!" Lyan demanded.
Both the blades evaded the ground sand which blew creating local sandstorms for once. The blades rushed towards each other speedily and crashed fiercely, causing Kai to fall back a little. Kai winced as his ankle got twisted in the process.
"Pribnow! Pull-Push!" Lyan squealed.
Dranzer got brashly pulled and Kai held the ground. Within the next minute, Dranzer was badly thrown away and that caused Kai to be thrown a few feet away as well. The worst thing was that Kai's back got hit by the bench they were seated few minutes back.
"Kai!" Rose worriedly shouted him. Reaching for him, she helped him get up, "I told you we'd leave!" She scolded under hurt.
Kai got up ardously and stood, "Rose, move back," he said and walked ahead.
Dranzer was just spinning, "I was just giving you time, are you in?" Lyan asked,
Kai smirked through the quaked lip, "Dranzer! Finish him! Fire arrows!" Kai yelled. The beast emerged and a bundle of arrows ignited and united to form a single large arrow which hit Pribnow. Pribnow flinched and was thrown back eventually. Lyan winced.
"Relax, this is just the start," Kai said, Rose kept a hand on her heart,
Lyan scowled. He couldn't use pull and push at all.
"Pribnow, hit it!" Lyan shouted. Pribnow ferociously hit Dranzer with such a vigor and valor that Kai was thrown back and his mouth hit on the ground, completely bleeding. He couldn't even shout because of pain. Rose gasped, and she looked tempestuously at Lyan, she prepared to launch Beutiquer.
"No, Rose, NO." Kai mumbled deeply.
"Look what that scoundrel has done!" Rose growled, "He's an insolent freak!" She said in fiery.
"I swear Rose, you're not going to launch your blade," Kai got up and held her hand for a moment, and Rose just couldn't disagree. She twitched her lips in anger.
"Dranzer! Blazing gig!" Kai roared and the pain amplified near his bleeding lips.
The fire flowed and it abruptly changed the temperature increasingly. Lyan's blade was starting to take the heat and trying to resist. But Dranzer was resistant. Kai was sweating in the heat. Lyan gasped as he felt scorched. "You might be from Red Scorchers, but stand this, Lyan! Stand heat and fire of my Dranzer!"
Rose tried to move back and she still felt nausea due to change. She couldn't even move due to burning and throbbing pain in her feet. She just thumped on the ground.
"Dranzer, final attack! Fire arrows mega blast!" Kai roared and all the fire arrows gathered together containing fire sped towards Pribnow while shooting fire balls at the blade. Pribnow danced crazily away but it just got cracked when the arrows hit it terribly. Lyan fell back and saw his blade getting burned.
"That's what you deserve," Kai said and took Dranzer. He smirked once through the bled lips.
He turned to see Rose giving a tired and congratulating smile to him. She got up and they walked out of the park together, Rose finding each step a hell of ride due to pain in her foot. She sat drained off in the car, just waiting to reach the hotel room.
Kai was glaring at the glass ahead as he drove recklessly. He was terribly bleeding and Rose just wished if he could help him. The cold breezes helped a little. But she was feeling very hurt. She wasn't sure if it was because of her foot or watching Kai bleed.
They reached the hotel within ten minutes, and she wanted to ask something to Kai but he kept on walking faster through the corridor of the floor,
"Kai," she called him, "Can I help you? You're bleeding." She asked loudly and jaded.
"I'm fine, Rose. Get your foot cleaned and dressed,"
She sighed but headed to her room. She washed the foot and it hurt very terribly. She almost cried silently, because a few sand particles during the battle also got in the wound. The swab made her almost yell when she rubbed. After dressing it with bandages, she washed her face. She thought for few times about Kai but she just neglected everything and walked out to check him once.
She knocked on his door but it was open. He was sleeping with no treated wounds at all. The blood dried and it cracked. She hitched at the sight. His mouth was open and he slept dead to world,"The battle must be it," Rose mumbled. She took the courage to get in and arrange the first aid required and patiently waited for him to wake up. An hour passed but he didn't wake up. Seated on a far beret, waiting, she fell in the slumber.
She woke up past sunset, bleary eyes wanting more sleep. She saw that Kai was seated and struggling to clean the wounds. She wondered if he'd discerned her presence or not. If he'd; which should have been, he would have probably shouted at her, which he apparently didn't.
"Kai," she got up and tethered slightly towards him in recovering sleepy state.
"I'm okay," he said. She noted that he didn't complain of her presence.
She took the cotton swab from aside and without even asking him, held his cheek and started cleaning. He didn't protest and put his hands down with which he was cleaning. "Your lip is almost broken," she mumbled. He leaned back a little, and she gently cleaned the blood, "I've to use the swab, Kai. Just don't panic," she said. He ignored and shook his head.
She rubbed the swab and he closed his eyes tightly. It did hurt, a hell, and she knew. After she was done, she stepped back and put back the waste cotton.
Kai opened his eyes and sighed.
"Thanks, Rose." He said. He was never close to a girl like this, be it for any purpose, except Hilary. Rose was the just next girl and somehow he didn't hitch around her. She just knew how to relax him even if his mind was wracked up and the sky was falling. He didn't how it happened or how she did that, but things were working like that.
She nodded and looked at him, "Why did you battle Lyan? I know it was not me,"
"I'd to settle the score." Kai said calmly.
"You played well but look at the injuries." She smiled,
"No problem. I'm satisfied now." He smirked a little.
"Okay then, take care. I'll leave,"
"You may join me at dinner tonight. I was going out," he offered her kindly,
"I'd have, but..." she looked at her foot,
"Oh, it's fine." He said. She nodded and left the room.
.
.
.
Rose ate a sandwich and lied down. There was a knock on the door.
"Yes?" She opened the door,
"This is your parcel," a man said, looking like a delivery man.
"Hm? But I didn't order it." She said,
"But it gives the address of this room. Ordered by," he opened his phone, "Mr. Hiwatari, "
"Oh," Rose blinked, she took the food parcel and closed the door,
She called Kai,
"Hey, thanks for the dinner. You didn't have to order food for me," she said,
"Hn."
...
The next day they returned to Japan and everything returned back to normal routine. Rose and Kai got a little closer and they had something they could call friendship. Kai just wanted once to openly talk with her about Mike because he was still not convinced if she wasn't heavy at heart and had forgiven him, but he just kept procrastinating about it. They visited each other at weekends just to visit few gardens, much to Rose's pleasure because gardens were her favorite. She wasn't a fan of movie theaters, malls or restaurants, but gardens were her all time preferred.
At least, Kai felt that he was probably getting a new friend, a good friend and since Rose's teammates weren't in the country, she was drawn towards the male friendship. The good thing about them which they both liked was the silence between them, because they didn't ranted and chatted like mostly new friends do just to know each other more. They got to know each other more, but it was through less talks, more time together with that obscure and cool silence.
Also, Rose knew Kai since long back. Because she and Tyson almost did telepathy during their final battle in tournament, and therefore Rose had a fair idea of Tyson's past, concerning Amelia, and she saw what Kai was upto those years, with Tyson and attempting for title. She anyway had openly confronted and accused him that night after the tournament was over. So in many regards, she was well aware of Kai's thoughts, habits and his work.
Now, when she worked with him, she saw that he was changed a lot, and wasn't probably really responsible for her brother's death. His attitude seemed improved, better and little kinder, at least with her. Same was for her. The year's misery of loosing her only family, Mike had shattered her and made her aggressive and wild, and her once-upon-a-time wish was to kill Kai, or at least beat him cruelly in beybattle which never happened. Again, she knew she couldn't live like this and so for the peace of her mind and to ease her mind, she has just let go. She had found new job when she was with Jake in Tokyo and she settled here, earning finely in Voltaire's company as employee. She got busy and even though working in the company of Kai's grandfather was a constant reminder, but it was easy to move on with busyness, earning, settling here. Life got lonelier when Jake went off after Voltaire's death, but soon enough, she found Kai to work again with, a new friend, with a new status, owing the company with him.
I felt my conscience awake
It seemed to scare all my ideas away
I asked if it would behave
I wish I knew how to make it obey
.
.
.
His nights were shackled and empty, giving him the chills of stark loneliness. Many times, he would call Rose, wishing she would say...something...anything...which would calm him down. He felt like hearing her, or hearing her silence would ease his pains. She always picked his call, be it night's twelve a.m or two a.m. She never complained, she just heard him, heard his shattering silence and offered her words to him, be it 'Everything will be okay.', 'Sleep, it will be fine' or 'Meet me in the park'. For the rest of her call, he would just hear her silence she genuinely offered, wordlessly saying him that she was there with him. He didn't need any false talks but some genuine reassurance which she never failed to give him.
She knew his regrets, if not all. But she never asked him or discussed with him, nor did he opened up. He just knew that she knew him and that was enough. He refrained from confiding, expressing. Silence and togetherness spoke million words.
He would sigh audibly and softly and lean on the garden's bench back beside her seated. She would calmly stare at the moonlight dancing on the fountain before them. The bulbs of street lamp shone with silver rays coming out at some distance. The pitch green turf beneath their feet was silent, as if respecting theirs. It would be dark night, but outside here, at her favorite place, with her with no words, it was more than cuddling to your confidant to him.
"It's lifeless and empty. Guilt comes ruefully, its hard." he said, nothing more. Most of the times she knew what he meant. It was probably Voltaire's death, or being wrong with Tyson in plenty of ways, or probably Mike...or probably the loneliness in life after everything. She didn't know about Hilary. But Hilary was not even the reason all the times. So she guessed right.
"Everything can't be okay." She coughed gently, he shut his eye deeply, still head hanging down backwards on the bench's back, "Until you do it. You can."
"So... everything will be okay then?" His breath shivered but slightly. She still saw his voice strong,
I found a thought in my brain
Something I haven't seen in here for days
I watched it walk through my veins
Out through my fingertips into the page
"Yes, it can be." She smiled, "Just remember, life is the art of drawing without an eraser."
He opened his eyes, introspecting her beautiful thoughts. Is the white of my paper still there?
"You've the white of paper, still. It can be a beautiful drawing. Just draw carefully now, no more mistakes" she said maturely.
He nodded. He still probably had the chance but he was heck clueless of what to do ahead. Days passed on, company quarters became the liveliest place of few hours of the day for Rose and Kai, because working together with understanding just was making them realize they'd fine friendship. Nights would be lonely in his manor, lonelier in his dreams, or serene in parks with her, where they ended up in cordial warm silence, sleeping on the bench till the daybreak.
.
.
.
Even though he knew that Hilary was in Japan since a month, he hadn't planned on calling her or meeting her because he just wanted to move on and even though there are slight feelings he has for her still, he was finding a little easy to just ignore them, so he didn't thought of meeting her. She would anyway not forgive him for what he has done to her. Plus Rose's ethereal company kept him busy. He potentially got a new friend who was the first person to forgive him. Hilary was still mad at him for what he did, but Rose... she just forgave even after he was partly responsible for her brothers' death.
You and me, keep tearin' like paper
We're drownin' deep in a different ocean
Hard to breathe, it's unfair
Can't believe, the force of our nature
Few weeks later after returning to Japan, one fine day, Kai just decided that he should visit Tala's place since the team got shifted at Japan who previously were at Florida, and were in the same city in Japan as for now, and he has been thinking to meet his old mates and just see how they were. He called Tala few times at phone but Tala always said that he was very busy these days and Tala's voice definitely looked perturbed like he was in some trouble or worried about something. So Kai himself thought to visit Tala and get what was going on.
A week later, when he visited Tala's place, he didn't know what he was going to witness, a huge truth, shock and mystery after he met them. Ever since then, he tried contacting Hilary and meet her, but she just avoided him and cut his calls, blocking his number. He finally decided to show up at Tyson's dojo, knowing that she was currently living at his place.
What he didn't know was that he was going to see Ashlene instead of Hilary and get yet an another shock of knowing that she returned back to Tyson. As bad as luck was on his side, Ashlene trapped him with her words and... he ended up going psycho nuts and confessing that he was the one who separated her and Tyson. He was riled up at his ownself and great brains he had once, for letting his guard down and getting trapped and spilling truth in front of Ashlene. Like hell he was scared of her, but he couldn't probably face Tyson this time, because he had utterly messed up this time.
...
He returned his mansion tired and beat, still he nerved up not to lay idly on his bed and leave everything aside. He got up, showered for good amount of minutes under warm droplets cascading on him.
He wasn't sure of Tyson's reaction after he encountered Ashlene. Had Ash said him about it already? He pondered. It wasn't unlike of Ash to stay quiet after knowing it. How subtly she trapped him in her words within seconds? Her intelligence deserves a salute. He snickered as he rubbed the body wash lotion on his muscly arms. Despite everything, he only had tend to become more brawny, attractive physically no matter how his heart was long back not that beautiful like how it was once back.
He never thought that his culpability would be unfolded so easily and in span of seconds of just a conversation! Ash IS very subtle. And how easily she swooned Tyson. Despite her not even having a bit beast, she pushed Tyson very far in blading.
Kai believed that she had some effect on him which indirectly caused him to be better than he should have.
He sighed, jaded by his retrospection coming up inevitably constant, What would Tyson do after knowing this? He mused, will Tyson come after him and confront and brawl at him? Tyson CAN legit get riled up at him. And Hilary... after she knows that I used her this badly without her even knowing...what will she do?
He couldn't even envisage and fathom her anger and savage outbursts.
Turning off the silver knob of the shower, he sighed heavily and wrapped himself in the bathrobe and sprawled out of the bathroom. His hair were clad in white towel to soak the water away. He sprayed the conditioner in his room, which had Rose written on it and he smiled briefly just reading that name. He breathed in.
He wanted a fair battle with Tyson, not just an empty title, but...
Ash's back means Tyson gets his confidence back, and skills multiplying, skyrocketing. Why not? She always did that to him.
He got up and walked to his large balcony and lounged on the plush couches.
He had been visiting Tala's place very frequently these days. He was busier.
Hilary hadn't picked his calls. Why she had to be so riled up at him after this long? Can't we just talk for a minute peacefully? She will anyway get her senses and manners back once I tell her about Nyhan, she will understand that I care for her and I'm not some possessive maniac .The last time she had talked to him was when the team departed at Tyson's birthday and he caught her cab in the middle of road after creating a scene.
He exhaled painfully. Probably its better that we are not together anymore. Would I've really understood her?
His head was a big mess right now, crammed and shoved with past haunting and present consciousness of what's there before him
Anyway, she's really lucky. Just like Tyson, and his fate... I can probably salute Hilary's fate once again too.
He was confounded, perplexed, frazzled with his emotions. He wanted Hilary in someway, at least her forgiveness, but Rose was his panacea and peace. he felt like forgetting Hilary forever like she never happened, like he never ditched her and was in this tangles of being not forgiven and in an turmoil. Rose... Rose...Be with me Rose, don't leave me. His mind recited her name so devotedly.
How scared he was. He didn't want to loose Rose ever. Would she leave me if I tell her about my past relationship with Hilary? He thought for a second, but then he shrugged. Why would I say her anyway? He sighed, his eyes glassy, heavy head tilted and hung backwards making his aquamarine pupils roll down, a saline tear shooting heat down his temple.
No matter how hard he tried to forget everything and try to ease himself, the past just came poignantly crashing. But then... present was no peaceful. He just had present, to amend and redeem his misdeeds. He closed his eyes but then, another memory came stirring him,
"Separate them, he will not rise, never."
Those words of Ray said years back still echoed in his head. Kai was reluctant to do that and create any rift, neither did Ray forced, but with time, Kai practiced sincerely and Tyson reached beyond the end line without efforts. That made Kai's mind to reconsider Ray's suggestion and he joined Ray's plan equally.
Why do I keep on recalling what happened! Damn. Somehow Max's guilt had an effect on me, fuck.
He couldn't believe that he was feeling guilty suddenly. He wanted to smash that feeling away and be his cold heartless self, but his inner sides kept him shooting him with accusations. It's like he had three sides of him. One side which which shot him guilt, another side which supported him through his misdeeds, and the third side... which was far hidden somewhere, scared and lost, frightened of facing his karma soon and consequences.
...
He felt asleep like that, head hung back, blood in his brain accumulating through circulation drift, head getting heavy and he was sprawled up on that couch before the dark black sky in his balcony, wrapped in his half wet bathrobe.
The next morning, he woke up abruptly ghastly, gasping harder and deeper. He jumped off and got inside his room, changing into his formals and groaning in headache.
He furiously took his phone and once again dialed up for Hilary. She answered him irritated, jaded and exasperated. They ended up badly arguing and igniting each others emotional weak points once again. He felt crippled but he still forgave her. He couldn't hide about Nyhan and keep her blinded anymore,
"I really don't want to hear anything," Hilary sighed, clenching her fist and her face hung down, "I can't accept anyone and neither you because there was only one person I'd ever feelings for after you...and it was Ryan. I told you long back and to stop chasing me." He heard her say tiredly on the other side of phone, feeling her excruciating heart scrunched down.
"I can't take this anymore. I'm coming at Tyson's place to talk to you myself," He shouted in fury and hung the phone, Hilary flinched in tremble on the other side.
A/N: So... how was it? *sighs*.
I hope you guys didn't forget Rose? Did you? In any case, she appeared in Chapter 6 and 8, which I'm sure is a longgggg back chapter as compared to where we are now, chapter 59. It's legit if you don't remember Rose, but I'm assuming you didn't forget, because she was concerned with Kai. I would really suggest you all to just sneak peek at Chapter 8. There are many things that relates here and will be relating ahead. It explains why Rose knows Kai all well, even after suddenly appearing his life.
Rose met Kai in Year 2018 ending in tournament and in Year 2019's pretty start around at same time where she confronted him, ...and now its end of Year 2021 in present chapter.
Since they met newly, and have changed and matured through years, he was being kind, and she understood him and forgave. Their friendship is just in its initials, so I couldn't elaborate, it was briefly written. Sorry:(
Plus! I promised back that I'd give justice to Kai and he'll have his score settled with Lyan! So how was it? Lyan deserves it, right? Liked the battle? Score settled now!
Okay, so that's how I concluded the chapter showing and bringing it at a point to explain how Kai started calling Hilary telling her he want to meet her urgently and have to talk to her. Why but? You'll see in the next chapter! There's a slight hint in the last para itself, and yes B Boys returns!
See you all soon! Till then tell me if you like Rose? Or if you've started shipping KaiXRose already? XD Bye! Next chapter will be big SURPRISE and SHOCKER. Kai meets Hilary finally.
