Chapter 48: Hilary's confrontation, Kai's promise.

"Hilary!" Tala yelled and Hilary's heart thumped. Hilary quickly got into the car and quickly closed the door shut.
"What were you thinking? I was calling you like ten times!" Tala asked her. Hilary shuddered, she almost wanted to cry out, but she just puckered and looked away out of the window. She badly bit her lips and muffled her inner cries.
Thinking she was angry and not replying, Tala ignored her. All the way she just couldn't shake off the feeling.

Soon enough they arrived at hospital, and Hilary made her way quickly to the counter, while Tala parked the car. They waited for half an hour before reports were handed to them. Tala waited curiously for her to check the reports.
"So..?" Tala asked,
"Its improving. Better." Hilary said but she still was flipping the papers of reports.
"Then?" Tala raised an eyebrow,
"Its okay," Hilary closed the papers, and gave a small smile. Tala gave a relieved smile.
Tala's mood was lifted and he finally felt that his efforts of treating Ryan has been not futile. Hilary noticed the change in Tala's expression. She smiled a little.

"Why are you so attached to Ryan?" She asked as they walked, while she stuffed the reports into her purse.
He didn't answer and she took the cue that he didn't want to.
"Can we go to the backside?" She asked again, "You missed a painkiller in the morning. I could get that," she said.
"Which one?" He asked as they switched the corridors and reverse walked.
"Ketorol dt." She said coolly.

The garden on the backside was super large, build on some yards, with soft turf under their feet, giving a velvety sensation and a fountain in the middle. It was silent and the breezes swaying and drifted could be felt tenderly.
"Had a close fellow at abbey who looked like Ryan. Later Boris killed him after playing enough." Tala answered her previous question before stopping at the counter and looking at her,
"Uh, Ketorol dt." Hilary said and the cashier nodded. The pharmacy store seemed pretty large.
"Here," Hilary took the tiny cuboidal cardboard box and tugged in her purse.
"So is that the reason you're saving him?" She asked once they landed back in the garden to head to the car-way.
"Hn." Tala answered.

She didn't know how to react at that. All this time, she didn't know this was the reason. 'Abbey... does he still have the haunting memories of being Boris's puppets?'

"What about biovolt?" She asked him and she noticed how momentarily but visibly his shoulders tensed,
"Its no more. Voltaire expired and Boris is still in jail. Hopefully he'll never be out." Tala said,
Hilary nodded, nothing much was left to ask. If she would have questions, she would ask Ian later.

In the lobby, the lights sensed dimmed suddenly. They waited as the workers were almost fixing the board. Hilary's blurry vision suddenly shot open. She looked surprised. Tala raised an eyebrow.
"Hm?" He mumbled.
"That guy..." Hilary pointed in a direction, "Nyhan Finlay!" She stomped in a certain direction without any further words. Tala's eyes widened and he weirdly opened his mouth to acknowledge the long looked culprit. 'A bloody brother...?'

Hilary had no idea of what she was going to do but she knew she would rightfully fume up and get riled up at him.
Tala stared at them befuddled right there. So the bastard is still in Japan, huh? I was right.
The lights shot open and the ceiling fans speedily began, providing the spooky chills.

"Hilary?" Nyhan smiled at her. Hilary's face twisted horribly in anger and her knuckles turned white. She glared daggers into him.
"What's up, what are you doing here?" He asked her in the same tone, slowly acknowledging her expressions which looked unfriendly. He was clad in black shirt and formal pants with a white Dr's overcoat. He was calm because his identity card was in his pocket.
"What are you doing here?" She enunciated fiercely.
"What's wrong?" He asked her calmly, now knowing that this situation was challenging.
Hilary was heatedly seething and Tala still didn't budge, he could clearly hear everything but he was too stupefied to do anything for a few moments,

"What's wrong?" She seethed, "You fucked up your brother on the cliff and blew him down! That's wrong!" She yelled at him in fury.
Nyhan's eyes widened and his face visibly tensed a bit. Hilary was confirmed that she was right. Tala right that moment walked towards the duo, and was glaring at the black head, accosting him. Hilary groaned.
"What the hell is wrong with you Hilary! Do you know what you're saying!" Nyhan shot back, feigning the anger.
"Are you for real?" Tala said, "How can you kill your own brother? Kidnap him from hospital and throw him off the cliff? So easy? Wow?" Tala snapped, his face turning livid angry.
"Whao?" Nyhan's face was too stupefied and blanched, "How do you know? Any proof? You can't blame me against my own brother!" Nyhan yelled but his voice was not firm.

Hilary punched him with a sharp thwack on his jaw, her lips twisted horrendously in fury, eyes glassy. Tala mentally flinched at her guts and he could bet that his molars bled right now. Nyhan gasped and placed a hand painfully on his jaw, rubbing it urgently. The pain came down shooting.
"How dare you!-" Nyhan grunted. Before he could retort and smack her back, Tala blocked his blow sharply with his elbow, smacking him right against his sternum and knocking him down, while Hilary stood calmly, unbudged.

"I'll get to you legally behind the bars with enough proof. Don't worry, soon enough." Hilary said dangerously. Had she been a little bolder like Ashlene or say if Ashlene would have been in her place, Nyhan was killed right here with his own needles.

"Let's go, Hilary." Tala said and turned while Hilary followed.
The entire journey in the car was silent. Neither Hilary nor Tala exchanged a word, both lost in their own contemplation, Tala thinking of what proofs they could get more precisely from the hospital to which Ryan was last admitted in Florida. The only bad thing that he was an American and they were in Japan, plus proofs were abandoned in Florida there, miles away.

Her phone buzzed again and she pulled it and scowled seeing Delia's texts overflowing. She had to call her, NOW.

"You don't mind if I legit go nuts on my phone call and yell, right?" She sarcastically asked Tala. Tala frowned and blinked.

"Okay," he didn't know what else to do,

She dialed to Delia who picked up in seconds,

'Hey! How are you, Hils darling?'

"I'm good, super cool. How are you and Mar?" Hilary tried to quell her anger,

'I'm awesome, Margot is fine. Why were you not answering my texts?' Delia frowned with a pout.

"Delia...I've to say something. Promise you will be calm," Hilary cleared her throat,

'Go on,' Delia was calm,

"Talking to Nyhan, still?" Hilary asked and Tala's eyes spooked out at her words,

'Hmm, yes. Nights go that way, on phone calls,' Delia smiled serenely,

Hilary's eyes almost felt glassy, feeling how her friend was with a murderer, not even knowing it. She gulped, her throat shivering,

"Leave him. Forget him," Hilary said in a whisper,

'Whao, what happened Hils?' Delia flinched,

"Just listen to me, forget him. Please, don't ask me anything, please." Hilary pleaded, her voice mixed up with anger and hurt.

'What's wrong, Hils? Why...' Delia was panicked, Tala could envisage the reaction of the person on the other side of the call.

"No questions, I said. You trust me? If yes, no questions. If no, then go on, bye." Hilary shot,

'Hils wait!' Delia gasped, 'I will... fine, its okay. I won't talk to him. But... you will tell me once we meet, okay?'

"I will see," Hilary nodded with a gulp,

'Girl, Nyhan came a year back in my life. You were there since we were kids, I trust you, Hils.' Delia's eyes shivered in tears but she knew she had to do this.

"Promise, No Nyhan. Never," Hilary enunciated,

'Promise,' Delia said.

"Okay, I will talk to you later, bye," Hilary cut the call.

"Who's she?" Tala asked,

"My best friend," Hilary said,

"Hmm," Tala understood rest of the story and it explained most of the things to him. One thing Tala was sure was that Hilary cared and was possessive of her friends, be it Ryan or this girl on whom she talked on phone right now.

While Hilary was overthinking, rethinking about how someone could be so heartless and fake, that is Nyhan. 'How easy it is to pretend and play, right?'. She mentally snickered. At least, she felt a bit contended after smacking him.
"At home, pretend nothing happened in lobby," Tala mentioned,
"Hm, I already know that," Hilary said, irked.

They had a visitor already when they opened the door of their apartment. Kai was seated in the hall, on the old chairs along with Bryan while Ian was inside showering.
"Hey," Kai wished them as they entered,
"How is it?" Bryan asked calmly but Hilary noted the curiosity in his face.
"All fine." Tala said.

"What?" Kai asked.

"I'm talking about reports. CBP, IG count, ANA profile, and stuff." Hilary said with a small smile and took a seat near Kai.
Tala headed to check on Ryan who was asleep.
"Fed him with more soup, don't worry. He's okay." Bryan said after Tala came back to hall, joining them.

"Who's that girl in your car?" Tala asked to Kai with a small smirk at the corner of his lips. Hilary now remembered that she saw someone in Kai's car and she has been seeing her now quite often with Kai.
"She's my business partner, thanks to Voltaire." Kai said sarcastically.
Bryan and Tala blinked a couple of times while Hilary was clueless,

"He seriously did that on purpose-"
"Apparently yes." Kai said stoically.
"Kai what?" Hilary asked, so clueless.

"Nothing Hilary, she's my business partner, owes half of my company." Kai explained to her, calmly.
Hilary nodded but she knew she missed some point.

"How's it going then?" Bryan asked cautiously, and Tala was curious because the two knew about Mike's incident even before Kai acknowledged what he did in his possessed state years back.
Kai knew they were asking for Rose's bond with her, "It became better now, we are good." He smiled softly. Hilary smiled back, thinking that they were working in sync, without glitches.
But Bryan and Tala gave huge smirks to Kai,
"It will become even better don't worry. Any she's pretty good... at work." Tala said slyly. And Kai got the hidden meanings and implications in that sentence very well. What an innuendo! He gave a brief glare to Tala. Bryan smirked.

"Why are we talking about company works and partnership?" Naively, Hilary asked, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, it's boring for Kai too. Leave it," Ian popped, seeming to heard all of it.
"Woah?" They exclaimed and Ian made himself comfortable.
"I'll go now," Kai stood up, heading to check out Ryan. Hilary joined him when Ian urged, while after she and Kai disappeared, the trio giggled,

"What's her name?" Ian asked,
"I think Rose, " Bryan said,
"Perfect," Ian silently chortled, "A Rose for our thorny Kai,"
Tala laughed gracefully, the type of laugh he never showed in front of others.
"Kai likes her?" Bryan mused,
"Of course, I bet. His face spoke million words," Tala raised a confident brow.

Kai gently took a seat beside the lying black head, eyes closed. But Ryan was awake. Hilary stood there, arms folded and a smile coming to her lips, a happy one.
"Get up, beauty sleep." Kai snorted playfully. He was just trying to cheer up Ryan.
Hilary giggled silently seeing how gentle Kai was with Ryan. She absolutely adored watching Ryan being treated babyish by B Boys or Kai. They were gentle and sweet with him and it contended her heart. 'At least there are few people who love him in this cruel world.' She thought with a pure smile on her lips. Her thigh vibrated with some phone messages but she ignored.

Ryan slowly opened his eyes and looked at Kai, seated beside him. Ryan gave a gentle smile to Kai and Kai returned and helped the lying figure to sit properly.
"Backache?" Kai asked. '

How gentle and graceful Kai's tone is, like he was a whole different person right now,' Hilary mused.

"Yeah, I'm sleeping all time," Ryan gave a soft laugh.
"Its okay. You don't have to work at all. All these guys are there to serve you. You're safe," Kai assured patting Ryan gently.
Hilary smiled, feeling so delighted. Kai was gentle with her like this once too, but that was years back, when he kept her in his room alone and loved her. Hilary felt the nostalgia entailing but right now, the sight before her doused the past memorials.

"Thanks Kai," Ryan gave a nod, his face grateful, he clutched Kai's wrist and softly pressed, just to show how grateful he was.
"Oh, and yes, I didn't forget. I know its your birthday next week." Kai smirked. Ryan blinked, surprised and gleeful at Kai's gesture. Kai pulled out a small box from his purple jacket, "Open it on your birthday." Kai said. Hilary was a bit ashamed of herself because she didn't kept track of dates in her busyness.

"Wow, I didn't even remember, Kai." Ryan's face slightly shone, his eyes grateful and shining.
"I remember, 22nd December." Kai smiled. Hilary realized that 2021 was ending so soon.

"Actually I won't be here that day, have an important meeting in Austin. Last time the deal didn't went right." Kai rubbed his head lazily. Hilary was listening them curiously. She just didn't want to interfere and just enjoy watching them converse.
"It will be good, best of luck." Ryan said, wishing if he could help Kai in anyway.
"Hope so. Last time I almost lost my temper, thanks to Rose, she handled me." Kai said intuitively, remembering what happened last time.
"Rose?" Hilary asked.
"She's my business partner," Kai said looking to her.
"Oh," Hilary ignored.

"Oh and your reports are improving. Congrats. Keep up." Kai was motivating very nicely, "All of these are working for you," Kai joked, looking at Hilary and at the hall.

"I'm indebted to all of them, you too Kai." Ryan stared at Kai, feeling so much thankful to him, smiling meaningfully.
"Not me, what did I do?" Kai rolled his eyes,
"No words, Kai." Ryan just hugged him, tears rushing to his eyes. Kai patted him, "It's gonna be okay." Kai whispered, Hilary tensed, feeling herself on the brink of shedding few tears,
"Hey Ryan, look at me, it will be okay." Kai caressed his head, "You will stand on your feet once again, trust me. We all are with you, until you can run and elope with Hilary," Kai smirked. Hilary blushed cutely, looking down, while Ryan pulled back, smiling genuinely at Kai,
"With such support, I believe I'll be okay one day, Kai." Ryan nodded. Kai got up and nodded back optimistically.

It might have appeared a caring scene, but there was still beauty that Hilary found witnessing her ex boyfriend being so concerned and caring of her present Love.

Hilary approached him and helped him lay down and covered him in sheet barely. Ryan made sure he kept the box which Kai gave him safely in his bag pack under the bed. Even though helping Ryan lying down, covering in sheets was not needed, and Ryan could do that himself, all of them have become overprotective of him.
"Okay, you take rest." Hilary stroked Ryan's forehead once, before she left the room with Kai.
'Get well soon Ryan. I love you, and... at this point, NOTHING is important for me more than your health.'

Hilary took out her phone and checked the messages. A small smile leapt on her lips.
"Everything cool?" Kai asked,
"Yea, its Ash." Hilary's eyes were stuck on the phone screen as they sat on the chairs where Tala and Bryan were still there, whilst Ian seemed to have slept,
"Then..." Kai urged,
"She's asking about me. She's at Julia's place, with Tyson and Ellie." Hilary closed the phone after replying to the texts, assuring her that she'll come at dojo tomorrow. Plus it's been a week since she visited there.

"Julia?" Tala mumbled, a tiny blush creeping on his brawny cheeks. Kai raised an eyebrow at that. Kai knew about Ellie being Tyson's daughter. Hilary herself told him gladly that Ashlene returned back to Tyson and Ellie was there too. Hilary didn't know that Kai already had encountered Ashlene few days back at dojo, much before Hilary said him anything. With that, Kai shuddered at the thought if Ashlene would tell Hilary about what he did years back. But he then assured himself that Tyson will not let her do that anyway. He trusted Tyson.

"Julia?" Bryan repeated,
Kai broke from his thoughts.

"Julia! You all forgot her?" Hilary waved a hand in front of Bryan.
"No, but what were you saying? Who's Ash?" Tala said calmly with a frown.
"Ash's Tyson's girlfriend." Hilary grinned but none of them gave a particular reaction. Hilary didn't elaborate,
"What about Julia?" Tala asked again as Hilary unknowingly dodged the point. Kai was now slyly smirking at Tala.
"Ugh, Julia is Ash's friend, close as a sister. They were together for years in same house." Hilary said.
"Oh," Bryan nodded,

"Kai, you should visit Tyson sometime you know?" Hilary suggested him, asking kindly and wisely.

"Hmm." Kai droned. Ever since that day when Hilary told him that Grandpa was in coma, the same day when Kai introduced her to Ryan being alive, Kai could just feel the guilt of years recuperate and hit him after seeing Grandpa in hospital. He couldn't even share his pain or emotional fight with anyone. Rose knew that something was happening with him. And she knew pretty long back about Kai because Rose battled Tyson once in tournament few years back and saw through the visions that Kai was tormenting and despising Tyson and how Kai's and Tyson's friendship was. She also knew that Tyson was fighting the hurt of his lost girlfriend, so called Amelia that time. Rose knew almost everything. Now when she and Kai have met after years once again, and were better and close friends, and with civil terms, she was watching him each day realizing his mistakes and deeds of knew that very soon he was going to have an outburst of emotions, guilt and remorse and the storm of maelstrom was gonna arriving soon.

"You'll be called uncle! You know that!" Hilary joked. Bryan gave a smirk to Kai while Tala rolled his eyes. He was curious to hear about Julia, and Hilary was ranting about Ash or Ellie only.

"And you all too!" She cheerily pointed her finger to all of them, "All uncles!" She snickered. Kai sighed hopelessly at her antics. Bryan and Tala frowned, "How so?"

"At Tyson's wedding, you'll be invited, so there, Ellie Granger will excitedly bombard at her so many uncles." Hilary laughed mirthfully.

"Big party huh?" Bryan asked, "I'm curious to see Ellie though, she must be an another Tyson." He smirked,

"She's!" Hilary was exuberant, "She's got only few aunts, right- Me, Julia... but she has so many uncles!"

"Oh only two aunts!" Tala said,

"Yeah, Julia is closer to Ellie though." Hilary said,

"Hopefully Julia will come at the wedding party, Tala." Bryan smirked at Tala. Hilary didn't hear but Kai was observant.

"Guys, I'll leave now," Kai rose, "I've someone waiting in car," he rubbed his clean fringes of forehead.

"Sure carry on." Hilary smiled, Tala smirked at Kai now.

"Sure, hurry up," Bryan added. Kai ignored.

"Hils, take care of Ryan." Kai smiled. Hilary nodded. Kai closed the door before he left.

Tala was staring at Hilary, his eyes saying her to say about Julia, but just like how Hilary was. She didn't understand anything that he was trying to say. She wondered why he was gawking at her.

"When's Tyson wedding?" Bryan asked, saying Tala's thoughts.

Hilary frowned, "Why?" she laughed nervously.

"Because we didn't eat proper food since days right, so I was hoping we could gorge there," Ian interfered sarcastically.

"In that case, we can go to any restaurant. I will give the treat," Hilary mocked back with sarcasm,

"You can't bear our bills, chill." Bryan grinned devilishly. She scowled at him.

"When's the wedding?" Tala re-questioned,

"I don't know!" Hilary cried, "He proposed her just few days back and she accepted him. But I don't know when will they officially wed,"

"Oh," Tala was quiet.

"Is Julia single?" Ian questioned and Tala badly froze.

Hilary coughed, "Ian!" She pinched him and tweaked his ear, "Julia will not date you, stay assured. She might rather date Tala or Bryan, but not you," Hilary scoffed to mock the little midget. Ian backed off and rubbed his red ear. But Tala's cheeks were more red. Bryan had a huge impish grin on his face as he looked at confused and secretly happy Tala.

"Uh sorry, I didn't mean that," Hilary looked at Tala and Bryan. Bryan rolled his eyes,

"I'm not interested," Bryan said, "But Hilary, why don't you try your words with Tala?" He asked. Tala frowned horrifically.

"What?!" Hilary barked, closing her eyes confusedly and opening, "Julia is not my Friend. She's Ash's friend, I can't help you," She snapped. They kept quiet and were shut. All shut. Tala just cursed his luck.

Tyson, you better wed Ash soon.

...

Kai opened the door and saw Rose deeply sleeping on the seat, leaning against the glass of window.
He didn't disturb her and pulled the gear and started to drive. She woke up eventually during their halfway drive to her house.
"When did you come?" She asked rubbing her bleary eyes and yawning.
"You were sleeping," he said giving her a glance and focused ahead more on the traffic.
"Hmm," she gave a nod and suppressed an another yawn to come.
"Wanna go to park?" He offered.

Though she wanted to go, she was too tired, she just wanted to go home and sleep. Her apartment was small, and a few kilometres away from Kai's mansion.
"No, thanks," she said.
He gave a nod.

There were peacefully silent as the traffic cleared and the light colored blue sky was showering breezes on them.
"How's your friend?" Rose asked,
"He's improving. His girlfriend is with him, and Tala and others too," Kai said,
"Hmm," Rose mused, "Haven't met Tala or others before, but I saw them on shows and screens." She said,

"Rose..." he said carefully, on the brink of saying about Hilary and him, "Hilary is his girlfriend," he revealed. Rose didn't remember at all who was Hilary. Hilary was not even there in any tournament matches recently, not even when Rose had battled Tyson few years back.
"Who's Hilary?" She asked blinking.
"Uh," Kai thought carefully again, "She was our team manager once upon a time, and also a kind of friend to us."
"G Revolutions'?" She asked,
"Yeah." He didn't say anything more.

"So... so what?" She shook coolly,
"Nothing," Kai was quick but soft, "I assumed subconsciously you knew. She's like teammate to us, like she comes to meet us sometimes, " he added,
"Oh," Rose said, "So... she fell for your friend?"
Kai wondered how was he gonna explain her that Ryan wasn't actually his friend from the start. Because Kai told Rose that Ryan was his friend and he was visiting Tala's place to look after Ryan sometimes.
"Yep," He said sensing that in one perspective, it wasn't a lie.

Rose didn't inspect him quite often, that was a rarity. But this time, she just thought to share her companionship with him, even though she was not much curious about the people he interacted or met or helped.
The fact was neither would Rose nor Ryan would mind to know about Hilary's and Kai's past relationship of few months. But still the Ex- Captain and the ruby eyed girl hesitated to discuss about it anytime with their partners.

She closed her eyes and sighed, feeling the headache throes. She recently started having migraine attacks, unpredictable and fierce.
"Are you okay?" Kai eyed her worriedly and asked,
"Just stop at medical store," she said excruciatingly,
"Ibuprofen? Is it okay?" Kai suggested concerned,
"Hmm," she quelled her pain.

He drove recklessly with blunt turns and stopped by the store. Unbelting, he pushed the door, sprinting to the store. The young cashier was lazily squatted on the floor, staring idly.
"Excuse me," he said urgently, "Can you get ibuprofen tablets?"
Within the next minute, he exchanged few coins with the tablet and bought a bottle of Aquafina.

"Here, take it," he handed her the tablet box, and the bottle,
Pulling up the gear, he looked ahead, revving up the car.
The medicine worked, but not till they reached the home.
She strode out and waited for the car to swish off, but instead Kai parked the car nearby. Rose gnawed her lip.

"Um?" She stared at him when he walked towards the building in which she lived.
"Lead," he said, being cursory in his intentions. She coughed gently, an uncanny feeling she shoved off quickly after knowing that he was first time coming to her house.

"How's Grandpa?" She asked in the elevator, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
"Ash shifted him to her hospital. He's improving." Kai sighed. Kai wouldn't have known that Ryu was shifted, but thanks to Hilary. He was hoping ardently that just once, just once Ryu would get his consciousness and see him once.

She walked through the corridor and he followed, looking at the chocolate coloured doors of multiple apartments.
She unlocked the door, and strode in. Kai followed. Her house was not large. It consisted of a hall into which he entered, which ended with a small dining table with three chairs. A bedroom, study, bathroom and kitchen followed in a semicircle.
He followed her into her room, and helped her clean her bed. She thumped on her bed, crashing her head against the squishy pillow. She closed her eyes, vaguely telling him to take rest as well, pointing her eyes to a large couch. The couch and a small table by bed was the only furniture in her room with wardrobes aside.

He gave a nod but he headed to kitchen. Checking the fridge, he prepared some light, hot soup for her and placing the contents and a glass of water on tray, he walked to the room and set it on the table. She was in a deep slumber, brows tensed, lips parted with coral lip gloss faded, her hair tied up in neat braid. She had changed into thin loose tee and tracks.

Right now, she was in a nightmare, with Mike running in dark pitch alley and Boris chasing him unstoppably. Mike landed in the laboratory and whimpered and shrieked. His veins dilated after injecting, and he turned pale and slipped, head crashing against the edge of single beydish and he passed out.
Kai was trying to wake her up, cupping her shoulders and shaking her, "Rose! Rose, wake up." He called her, a little worried now. He saw her face was paling and lips quaked.

"Rose, get up!" He cried once again. She swerved up and sat, eyes shot open, scared. She gasped terribly and was profusely sweating.
"What happened! Its okay. It was just a dream," he appeased her, puckered, sitting beside her, her legs still shivered under the sheets.
"Mike! My Mike!" She shuddered, seeming so shattered right now.

"I'm so sorry Rose," Kai confessed shakily, guilt resurfacing. He didn't know why, but he pulled her close and hugged her, drawing her head in his chest and rubbing his hands and palms on her back. He could sense the warmth of her back. She was convulsing against him, repressing those sobs so hard.
"Rose, please don't cry." He said urgently and caressed her head.

"Boris killed him, Kai!" She whimpered. Kai pulled himself back, examining her face, still his grip round her back firm.
"My only brother! He's gone!" Rose sniffled. She tried not to be verbal but the heaviness in her chest was too much to be depressed there.
"He's at better place now, at heaven." Kai consoled, he didn't know how he managed to say that, because he was not good at handling such situations.
Rose tried to relax down, she gulped continually and her gaze was lowered, the stinging pain still there.
He held her chin and made her look to him, she still didn't meet his eyes. She never envisaged he would see her vulnerable torn side like this. Her fragility was before him.

"Sorry," he said, knowing that she didn't let him ever close like this and he was doing it without her permission, "But you need this. You've me, because I have you." His words expressed how fragile he was once before her too. She didn't had to hesitate before him.
"No one stays," she snickered bitterly, "Everyone leaves. You too will." She declared.
"No, I will not. Never leave you," he gritted his teeth, glaring her.
She was quiet, silently gasping.

Rose knew Kai left Tyson, because Kai himself told her and his regrets. So why not he can leave her one day?
"Don't believe me?" He hissed, wishing so bad she believed him.
She grunted and didn't answer. He pondered, revving up his mind's gears.

"Probably you'll leave me too," he expressed and pulled away his hands from her back, and she felt alone, breaking away from his embrace.
"No." She whispered, "But you will."
"I never left people I loved. They did," he could remember his parents, Hilary and now Grandpa- they all left him. Rose slightly blushed. His firm and loud voice said something.

"You don't love me," she whispered lowly, but he heard her. He froze. His veins flooded with all fluids. He squinted at her face, she was drooping low.
He didn't know what to say. He liked her, she was his most comfortable friend, confidant. But love?

"Love? That's stupid!" He frowned
"But I love you," Hilary groaned and leaned to softly kiss him.
He gawked at her action, "See, love isn't stupid. Its warm." She whispered through her red cheeks. He didn't know she had guts and courage in her late seventeens.

"Even if you hate me, I can never leave you." He said her lucidly, emphasizing that Love was not everything. His friendship with her was strong and sufficed him to stick by her.

"Good to know," she droned idly.

"Just sleep, and soon you're shifting at my place, just so you know that I'm not leaving you anytime, not at least till death parts us," he commanded, not seeing how he would live without her. He just needed her by his side, he didn't want necessarily her love, he just wanted her presence in his life everyday, by him.
She didn't argue now. He know he never deserved her love. He couldn't even think of it. He had wronged and hurt her so much, yet she forgave him. He didn't want anything else, he wasn't greedy.
She held his wrist as he turned to leave. Looking at his eyes, she said with her actions to sit. He took a second but then sat on the edge. She was quiet for a minute.

"I'll kill Boris for you, okay?" He smirked, trying to lighten the tension.
She shook her head briefly in no.
"Leave me before I loose you too." She said meeting his eyes. Her words racked his wires.
He didn't understand her. Why would she want him to leave? She didn't want to be attached to him to a point that parting becomes difficult and unbearable, just like Mike.

"Just sleep, I'm not leaving." He hugged her abruptly, so that she didn't said anything more puzzling. "Its a promise, Rose. And I've never made promises before,"
"You'll..." she whispered, and this time she wrapped her hands around his back too, gazing at the bed-sheet, even still being in his embrace.
"I'll stay single forever with you," he said with a smirk, snuggling against her deeper, hovered upon her. She never dared to, be this close with him. Now, it shot the sparks of tenderness to surface up. He pushed her back on the bed and she lied down, still wrapped in the embrace. "Sleep, or else I'd have stay like this longer to make you believe I'm not leaving." He remarked, their bodies cursorily interlocked. She blushed and nodded quickly. He gently left her, caressed her cheek and smiled. Covering her in sheets once again, he made her drink the soup. He closed the lights, and stayed right in the couch.

A/N: Justice given to all the readers who were riled up at Nyhan...? What about Delia though? XP Liked Kai and Rose's part? :)

The next chapter is light-hearted with Ty/Ash. I've planned to add a bonus chapter with majorly Kai/Rose. Also with Raul/Zane, Tala/Julia and Nyhan and Delia's part. I don't mean in the romantic sense, but we will have a peek into their lives to see whats up, because they were not described in detail. I don't want to leave loops around there.

Thanks to everyone who reviewed the last chapter. That just means a lot to know your thoughts :D

P.S: I'll post a TyHil one shot soon. It will be a surprise xD
