Chapter 5 Winter Solstice
Sean and his group flew over a part of land while Katara was asleep on Spyro's back.
And of course.
Katara moaned in her dream world as Sean pleased her.
"AHHH!" Katara yelled waking up making Spyro lose control and crashed down.
"Ow." Sean said holding his head before shaking it.
"WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT!" Sokka yelled at Katara making her growl in rage before smacking him making him widen his eyes. (Sora no I am not gonna have him betray them)
"What in the name of Hades was that all about?" Sean asked confused.
"Nothing...Just a messed up dream." Katara said before Spyro took off.
"You've been acting really strange since we left Kyoshi island. Is there something you want to tell me?" Sean asked curious making her blush.
"No. It's nothing." Katara said looking away before she spotted something. "Whats that?" Katara asked making them look seeing a giant black spot on the forest.
"It's like a scar." Sokka said.
"Hmm. Let's investigate." Sean said before they landed again.
"It's so quiet. Theres no life anywhere." Sokka said.
"Everything is burned to ash." Sean said before Sokka found the cause.
"Fire Nation! Those evil Savages make me so sick!" Sokka said before Katara shut his mouth. "What I can't be mad?" Sokka asked before she pointed at Sean who looked conflicted.
"Sean? Are you ok?" Katara asked.
"No. These ashes remind me of pointless battles back home. Pointless destruction for mere fun. However...From the ashes like the phenix." Sean said finding acorns. "New life begins." Sean said planting them in the ground making her smile.
"That was very poetic." Katara said making him smile.
"I have some talents." Sean said before an old man approached them.
"Are you Lord Kruger? Son of Zeus?"
"It's just Sean or Kruger. And yes." Sean said.
"My village desperately needs your help."
Soon he led them to his village which looked damaged.
"What exactly happened here?" Sean asked.
"For the last few days at sunset, a spirit monster comes and attacks our village. He is Hei Bai, the black and white spirit."
"And why is it attacking you?" Sokka asked
"That we don't know. But for three nights, he has abducted many of our people. And we don't know where he is taking them. We are especially concerned because the winter solstice nears."
"Why is that a concern?" Sean asked.
"As the Solstice approaches, the Natural world and the spirit world grow closer and closer, until the line between them is blurred completely."
"Didn't your father create spirits?" Katara asked Sean.
"No. Thats something thats existed for a long time. But I've never heard of a spirit attacking people so randomly. Unless theres something about this spirit that we don't know." Sean said.
"Hei Bai is already causing devastation and destruction. Once the solstice is here, theres no telling what will happen."
"I'm not really accustomed to fighting spirits since they are supposed to be peaceful." Sean said.
"Well, theres gotta be something we can do." Katara said.
"At the least we can try talking to it." Sean said.
Later
Sean sat in a meditative position as he waited for the spirit to attack.
"Shouldn't we be out there helping him?" Sokka asked.
"Oh like he needs your help. Mister who got tied to a pole." Katara said making him growl in annoyance. "Besides we don't know how to fight spirits anyway. Normally that would be something the Avatar would do. But since the cycle is broken when the last one died in the air nation along with all his kind theres no one else who can help." Katara said.
Sean continued to wait before flashes began to appear within his mind.
Flashes of what looked like a Comet appeared within his mind.
"Kruger."
Sean opened his eyes before looking around but saw nothing.
"Ah Must be hearing things." Sean said standing up. "I don't think this spirit is coming." Sean said about to head back inside.
Only to hear a powerful roar making him turn before seeing the spirit who charged right at him making him jump back before punching it away.
"Whoa." Katara said surprised.
Sean roared as he punched it down hard before it blasted him away.
"Ok this is new. I've never fought a spirit before." Sean said as he swung his blades at it but it didn't even scratch it. "What the?" Sean asked before it smacked him away.
"We can't just sit here." Sokka said rushing out to help.
Sean growled as he grabbed one of the arms before flipping it.
"Hey!" Sokka said rushing to him.
"What are you doing? I got this." Sean said.
"We'll fight him together." Sokka said.
"I don't think fighting him is..." Sean tried to say before it grabbed Sokka who screamed.
"Oh my...For the love of Athena." Sean said chasing after him as wings appeared on his back and flied after it.
"Sokka!" Katara yelled.
Sean continued to fly after the spirit who had Sokka.
"AHHH!" Sokka yelled in fear.
"What did I say? I had this. Now I gotta save your ass." Sean said.
"Just save me!" Sokka yelled.
"Yeah, yeah." Sean said moving to grab him but when their hands touched Sokka and the spirit vanished and Sean crashed into a statue out cold.
Sean soon woke up before looking at the statue seeing it as a Panda.
"Hmm." Sean said before his wings came back and flew off to tell Katara.
Arriving back at the village he saw her by the gates with the old man before he landed.
"I'm sorry Katara I tried but." Sean tried to say.
"I'm sure he will return soon."
"I know Sean. He never fails." Katara said.
"Uh I'm right here." Sean said waving his hand in front of her before he saw it was blue.
"What the? I'm in the spirit world?" Sean asked.
"Kruger."
Sean looked around hearing the same voice as before.
"Ok this is getting annoying." Sean said before a dragon of these lands appeared before landing in front of him.
"Wait a second I know you. Your Avatar Roku's spirit animal." Sean said making it nod. "Is that who I've been hearing in my head? Is Roku trying to talk to me?" Sean asked getting another nod. "Whats going on?" Sean asked before it touched his head showing the same comet at before. "That Comet. It looks concerning. It means something doesn't it?" Sean asked before it motioned for him to get on which he did before they took off.
They appeared on an island where a temple was at before they came to a room where another statue of Roku was.
"This must be Roku's shrine. But why am I here? Can I talk to Roku here?" Sean asked.
Thats when he looked down seeing a calendar in ancient texts before seeing a light nearly touching Roku's face.
"I get it now. The solstice will allow me to communicate with him. Now how do I free Sokka and the others?" Sean said before they appeared back at his real body before Sean looked at the statue. "I wonder." Sean said before entering his body again as he opened his eyes.
"I think I know what I need to do." Sean said before flying away.
Katara waited at the gates before seeing Sean land making her smile as she rushed to him and hugged him.
"Did you find Sokka?" Katara asked.
"I think I have an idea. I'm gonna try this one last time. Get inside." Sean said making her turn before she faced him and kissed him much to his surprise.
"Good luck." Katara said grinning at him.
"Oh. That will help out greatly." Sean said pleased.
Soon the sun went down before Sean confronted the spirit again.
"Enough!" Sean said stopping it. "I know who you are. You're the spirit of the forest. You are angered that it was burned down. But rest assured it is not gone forever. Like I told Katara like the Phenix rising from the ashes new life will take place." Sean said handing it an Acorn which it took before leaving as it turned into a giant Panda.
Thats when Sokka and all the others the spirit took appeared again.
"Sokka." Katara said rushing to him.
"What happened?" Sokka asked.
"You were trapped in the spirit world for 24 hours. How are you feeling?" Katara asked.
"Like I seriously need to use the bathroom." Sokka said running off making her roll her eyes before looking at Sean and kissed him.
"Thanks for saving my brother." Katara said.
"Ah. He's annoying but he's still a friend. And I would do anything for you Katara." Sean said making her smile. "Anyway we may have a problem. I think Avatar Roku was trying to contact me. Showed me visions of some comet. Something is coming and I think it's soon." Sean said.
"So how do we talk to Roku then?" Sokka asked.
"Uh thats the problem. Theres a temple that when on the solstice will let me talk to him." Sean said.
"And thats a problem because?" Katara asked.
"It's in the fire nation." Sean said shocking them. "But I need to know what that thing is." Sean said.
"So...We're going to the fire nation then?" Katara asked.
"I don't have a choice." Sean said.
"Then we're coming too." Katara said.
"What!" Sokka yelled as they got on.
"Well, I could always use Sokka as a shield." Sean said.
"HEY!" Sokka yelled making Katara giggle before they flew off.
Hours later
After flying to the fire nation they saw a blockade around where they needed to go.
"How are we supposed to get past all that?" Sokka asked before Sean's eyes glowed before a mist appeared around the ships blinding them.
"Whoa. How did you do that?" Katara asked.
"A little something my uncle taught me many years ago." Sean said as they flew past the blockade.
Soon they arrived on the island before landing.
"Nice work buddy." Sean said petting him as he flipped over before snoring.

"No, I'm good. Refreshed and ready to fight some firebenders!" Sokka said doing his stretches.
"I was talking to Spyro." Katara said making him growl annoyed.
"Ok lets go." Sean said as they made it to the temple.
"So do you know anything about this temple?" Korra asked.
"Uh honestly no. I only know certain history of the lands." Sean said.
Thats when they were attacked by Fire sages.
"Hey! I thought you guys were supposed to be honorable!" Sean yelled.
"Things changed." The head sage said blasting them.
"Move!" Sean yelled as they rushed through the tunnels.
"Can't you just tell them who you are?" Sokka asked.
"Do you think they care?" Sean asked before one of the sages was in front of them making Sean pull out his blades.
"Wait. I'm not a threat. I am here to help."
He opened a secret door making Sean raise an eyebrow before putting his blades away before they all rushed in.
"Why are you helping us?" Sean asked.
"It was the duty of the fire sages to serve the Avatar before the cycle was broken. And now I consider it a duty to serve the son of the god who created these lands."
"Why are the others against us?" Katara asked.
"They gave up hope when the Avatar cycle was broken. I have not however. If anyone can restore balance it's you."
"Whats your name?" Sean asked.
"My name is Shyu." Shyu said.
Soon they came to a room before a large door was seen.
"No." Shyu said.
"What is it?" Sean asked.
"The doors are closed. Only a fully realized Avatar can open them. The only other way is to have fire firebenders open them at the same time." Shyu said.
"Oh thats easy for me." Sean said having fire in his hands before blasting all five holes at once before the door opened up just as the other sages rushed in.
"Go!" Katara yelled making Sean rush in just as the doors closed.
Sean found Roku's statue.
"Come on already." Sean said before the solstice finally occurred before Sean found himself in the Spirit world before coming face to face with Roku.
"Hello, Kruger. What took you so long?" Roku asked amused making him grin.
"Sorry. Now whats going on? You wouldn't send your dragon to me unless there was something important going on." Sean said.
"You are correct. I have something important to tell you, Kruger. That is why, when you were in the spirit world, I sent my dragon to find you." Roku said.
"Whats going on?" Sean asked. "I know it has something to do what that comet." Sean said.
"Listen closely. A hundred years ago, Fire Lord Sozin used that comet to begin the war. He and his firebending army harnessed incredible power and dealt a deadly first strike against the other nations and wiped out the Air nomads." Roku said.
"Thats how they destroyed an entire culture? But why are you telling me this now? That was a hundred years ago." Sean said.
"Because the comet is coming back by the end of the summer. And Fire Lord Ozai will use its power to end the war. If succeeds not even you will be able to restore balance. You must find a way to end this war soon before the comet comes." Roku said.
"Oh great." Sean said before a vision of Sokka and Katara were captured by Zhao and his forces.
"I will help you escape. You must end this war soon." Roku said.
Outside Zhao and his men were ready to attack when the doors opened up and shockingly Roku appeared before he attacked them and triggered the Volcano.
Sean quickly rushed to Katara and Sokka before freeing them.
"We gotta get out of here now!" Sean yelled before Spyro burst through a window and roared as they jumped on him before flying away.
"So did you learn anything?" Katara asked.
"Yeah...But not anything good." Sean said.
Later
The group settled down on a remote island away from the fire nation.
"So...This comet is what helped the fire nation wipe out the air nation a hundred years ago...And it's coming back?" Katara asked.
"Unfortunately." Sean said.
"So what now?" Sokka asked.
"Nothing changes. We gather allies and hope we have enough to take out the fire nation before the comet comes." Sean said before he walked off before he spotted a hotspring. "I'm gonna relax for a little bit before heading to bed." Sean said.
Katara took a quick nap before she once more found herself back in the pink mist.
"Oh no." Katara said.
"So. Have we finally come to a choice?" Aphrodite asked amused.
