The Tok'ra Part 2

It had been a while since the Tok'ra crew had left. Sam kept herself a little separate from the rest of the SGC party that seemed to 'imprisoned' while at the Tok'ra base. She sat against the wall, hugging her knee, thinking about so much. Thinking about her dad. She also felt nauseous because General Hammond sending another SG team to tell her to go home meant the situation must be bad, really bad.

Jack's eyes secured onto Carter's position every few seconds, he could tell she was stressed. Her knee hugging usually meant she was deep in thought or feeling anxious about something. But it wasn't that set off his Carter concern antenna, it was the biting of the cheeks, clenching of the jaw and look in her eyes that gave it all away. He knew he needed to do something, though there wasn't really much he could say or do. He could also feel the eyes of every SGC member in the makeshift prison room on him, as if he were going to bark some life changing order at them and save the day. He wanted to go sit with Carter and check in, but he knew they'd all have one ear listening to whatever he said and that wouldn't be fair on her- especially as he'd noted all the awkward pity looks that were being sent her way. He frowned and cleared his throat, and as if on command, Daniel's brows shot up in some form of question. Jack darted his eyes to Carter and then back at Daniel, Daniel slightly frowned and made a half circle with his head as he made his realizing 'oh' and made his way towards Sam. Thankfully, SG3 began muttering some small talk which relaxed Jack into eavesdropping on his teammates' conversation.

"Sam, how are you feeling?" Daniel carefully asked, perching opposite her.

"I'm alright, thanks for asking." She replied.

"No offence but I don't think you're alright, given the circumstances and all."

As Jack kept his eyes on the archway, he could hear her smile- though that was technically impossible. "Yeah." She paused, "I'm worried for my dad, he wasn't doing great before I left. And now I- I… maybe I should have listened to General Hammond, maybe I should have sat this one out."

"You made the decision that you felt was best at the time, what if-ing is only going to upset you further. Trust me, I've been doing that a lot."

Jack appreciated the kind delivery that Daniel could have with words, he glanced over at them and saw Daniel take Sam's hand supportively. He watched as the Captain looked up, locking with celling, clearly in an attempt to keep her emotions under check. Jack wanted to go over, but trusted Daniel, and he knew she'd hate the fuss.

"Hey, you know we will do everything we can to get you to your dad." Daniel reminded her. Jack continued to watch her; he was impressed with how easily she could transition from somebody about to cry to somebody who kinda looked a bit agitated.

"Daniel, they're not going to let us just go. We know too much and they don't want an alliance with us, so there's no hope. Because of some strange feelings, memories and dreams that I've had, I have now not only left my dad to die alone on Earth, but I've also put us and SG3 in an impossible position on a secret base." She snatched her hand back and removed her cap, leaning her head against the wall.

Daniel turned to Jack, for a signal of what to do next. Jack supplied a knowing nod and walked towards Sam and Daniel.

"Hey." Jack said. Sam immediately brought her head to attention and put her cap back on. He now had two sets of wide blue eyes waiting for him to speak. "What do we say we get Garfield and Marty back to talk about our situation?"

"You mean Garshaw and Martouf?" Daniel corrected, in his questionable tone.

"Yeah, that's what I said." Jack dismissed, noticing the slight upwards curve on the Young Captain's lips.

"I don't think they're interested in talking to us, sir."

"I think we could at least ask why they don't want a treaty with us." Daniel suggested.

"Well we're here, so we might as well try." Jack responded nonchalantly.

"Hey Makepeace." Jack called. "Could you ask one of the guards to get Garshaw and her entourage? I'd like a word."

Colonel Makepeace agreed and made the request. Jack wasn't a fan of negotiating with those that decide to keep him and his team captive, he preferred the antagonising until he got his own way approach. However, whether it right or wrong, his top priority was getting Carter back to Earth. The treaty could wait, they could wait. But he knew her dad could not. As he began thinking of what to say to get them out of this situation, Garshaw & Co entered. He sighed internally, show time.
