Clio staggered away from the snake: "You were waiting for me?" She said, keeping her distance from the 2 headed snake.
The snake, still keeping her in his sight, answered: "All snakes descend from the great mother Gea and from her we have inherited the power to see the future. I, for example 50 years ago predicted that a daughter of Zeus would come to reclaim this sword." The snake shifted from his previous position, revealing a sword made from shimmering gold and a platinum like metal.
"I imagine you didn't wait 50 years just to give me this beautiful sword for free. Right?" She spoke.
The snake shook his heads: We snakes hate the gods and their children, even more after one of your "brothers" killed Gea, 15 years ago. I am going to enjoy eating your dismembered parts." The snake hissed before launching itself at Clio.
"Well, it was worth trying." Clio muttered to herself as she rolled sideways to evade the giant snake's fangs.
Clio quickly extracted her knife, one of the only gifts her mother had given her before dying and readied herself.
As the snake rolled on itself and prepared to launch itself again, Clio quickly dashed up to him and in one swift movement cut one of his heads off however as she did so, from the severed head sprouted a jet of acid that dissolved her knife and deeply burned her left hand.
Before Clio could recover, the snake slammed his tail trunk into her, throwing her to the ground.
"You are going to pay for the pain you inflicted me." The snake said as he climbed atop Clio's body: "My head will regrow in a couple of years, but you are not so lucky. Any last words?"
Clio took a deep breath, as she focused her mind on storms and thunderbolts. "Really? You don't want to say anything? That is a shame, not every demigod is as lucky as you, you kn … ." Before the snake could continue, Clio screamed from the top off her lungs and, like it was answering her call, a lightning strike burst from the roof, hitting the Amphisbaena and disintegrating it into dust.
Clio smiled: Clio 1, giant snake 0." She said before her vision faded to black.
When she reawakened, Clio almost expected the giant snake to be back and ready to take her life, but all she woke up to was a rat tasting her shirt.
After shaking it off, she was ready to leave before she noticed the sword the serpent was guarding, it almost looked like it was calling her.
As Clio reached and grabbed the sword, she felt a vibration ran trough her body before the sword turned into a golden bracelet around her left arm.
"Sweet! Maybe today was not a complete disaster." She thought.
She carefully made her way out of the house, her left-hand jolting with pain every time she inadvertently touched something.
After exiting the house and internally swearing to never go back there, Clio made her way back to her "home", a long-abandoned complex of apartments that had its entrance into a pretty sketchy alley.
As she approached the door, she saw it open in a burst, as a small figure almost tackled her to the ground with a very strong hug.
"Sis, you're back! Exclaimed excitedly her little sister, smiling.
