Velvette Wilmington - District 8 Female - Age 16
"Where the hell is Cedar?" was the first thing Velvette said when she woke up on what was her second day in the arena, "Wasn't he supposed to be guarding us?"
"Oh," Logan sighed, he clearly knew something that Velvette didn't, "You were asleep for the whole dead tribute projection thing. I forgot."
Velvette was beginning to get worried. Was Cedar okay? She clearly couldn't understand the context clues from what Logan said because otherwise she would have known his fate long before he announced, "Cedar's dead."
Velvette began to silently tear up. How could she not have realized? She was nervous having him take guard for the night, but she didn't think he would die, especially on the first night. Clearly he wasn't killed, because then she and Logan would also be gone, but it couldn't be mutts either. It was certainly weird, and not anything Velvette could possibly solve on her own. Logan didn't seem too affected by the death which was odd. Maybe he killed him?
"You don't seem too upset?" Velvette said, "Cedar died."
"I know," Logan shrugged, "I was sad yesterday but today's a new day and people die here all the time. One of us was bound to die eventually."
Velvette couldn't believe what she was hearing! How could he be so apathetic? He must have killed her, otherwise he wouldn't be so nonchalant about it.
"You killed him, didn't you?" Velvette yelled at Logan, "That's why you don't care right?"
"No?" Logan laughed, "Do you think I did?"
"Honestly?" She sighed, feeling bad about what she was about to say, "You only really care about yourself so it would make sense."
"You think I only care about myself?" Logan replied, clearly agitated, "I saw the can of beans was empty! What happened to only eating when we're hungry? Now we only have two cans left!"
"Well I was hungry," Velvette admitted, feeling terrible about what she had done.
"Bullshit!" He declared, "We ate so much yesterday morning!"
"That doesn't mean I wasn't hungry."
"Well maybe you could have asked!" Logan began to stomp off.
"Since when do I need your permission to eat?" Velvette asked, "We're supposed to be a team."
"You really think that package was for all of us?" Logan scoffed, "The sponsors clearly like me best, probably because I have an actual chance at surviving this thing."
"As do I!" Velvette was furious, "We both have an equal chance."
"That's adorable." Logan chucked, "I got a 7 and you got a 4!"
"Scores don't mean anything!"
"Yes you do, and you know it! If you really think you can win on your own, and get your own sponsors, then leave." Logan proposed, "Otherwise, stay here with me and you can have access to my gifts and I'll pretend this didn't happen."
"If I leave, will you kill me?" Velvette asked, contemplating her decision.
"No." Logan said, "Not yet at least."
"Then that's it!" Velvette declared, "I'm leaving. Good luck!"
And then she was off! She was unsure as to whether or not she had made the right decision, but she no longer cared. She didn't need Logan to get sponsors. She had done just fine in her interview, and a 4 wasn't the worst score that somebody had gotten. She made her way through the forest until she found what appeared to be a clifftop. She decided to climb it and see if she could settle there when CLUNK she fell over. Velvette looked at her shoes which she had foolishly forgotten to tie. She was about to get up when she heard noises.
"Where do you think you're going?" A boy with blonde hair and piercing blue eyes grabbed her by the wrist.
"I-I I was just going to see what's on top of that cliff." Velvette stuttered, pointing at the cliff.
"Well I'll save you the time then and kill you here then." The boy said, "My allies are up there and if you venture further, you'll die anyways."
Oh no. Oh no. Velvette really should have stuck with Logan but it was too late now!
"You can't kill her!" A girl with brown hair ran over to the boy. Velvette began to feel relieved when the girl continued to speak, "Hosanna is the only one of us who hasn't killed anyone! I just know the viewers at home are waiting for her first kill."
Velvette had thought too quickly, clearly. A girl with tan skin and black hair ran over to her.
"Do I have to?" She asked the first girl.
"I know you want to!" She replied, "It's going to be so much fun."
"I'm sorry." The girl closed her eyes and swung her axe as everything went dark for Velvette.
Hosanna Guerra - District 2 Female - Age 18
There were many reasons Hosanna hadn't made a kill until the second day, but guilt was the main one. She'd never been overly bloodthirsty like her allies, which is why she'd left the killing to them though she knew killing would be inevitable. She just wanted to avoid it for as long as possible.
"Why did you apologize for killing somebody?" Brycen asked as they walked with Sapphira up their clifftop, "That's what you're here to do."
"I just felt bad," Hosanna didn't particularly know how she was supposed to explain that killing people shouldn't be something people don't feel sorry for.
"Well I can tell you that the audience loved it!" Sapphira exclaimed, giving Hosanna a high-five, "If that makes you feel any better."
It didn't really but Hosanna appreciated the sentiment. As murderous as she seemed, Sapphira had an oddly magnificent way of providing comfort.
"It does!" Hosanna lied, knowing Sapphira had low self-esteem at times, "Thank you for supporting me!"
Truth be told, Hosanna really didn't understand the appeal of the career pack. They'd have to kill each other eventually would they not? Wouldn't it make more sense if they didn't know each other to make the inevitable murderous betrayal hurt less but alas she just went with the flow for the sake of her survival.
"Hosanna!" Ammo said once she arrived at the clifftop, "I'm so proud of you!"
"Thanks Ammo!" Hosanna put on a fake smile, "It was about time afterall!"
"As soon as I heard the canon I was so excited because I had a feeling it was you," He extended his hand for a high five, "That's my District Partner!"
As kind as Ammo was to Hosanna, she couldn't shake the feeling that he was by far the most bloodthirsty of the bunch and that made her scared that if she showed any weakness, her body would be on the floor.
"I can't believe it took this long," Brycen laughed, "But I'm still so proud of you!"
Brycen's approval somehow meant more to Hosanna's than Ammo's did. Maybe it was because Brycen was so naturally charming if this were any other situation, Hosanna would be head over heels for him, or maybe it was because although he and Ammo had killed the same amount of people, Brycen seemed more humble.
"It's not a big deal!" Adira chimed in, "She just killed somebody. Isn't that what happens all the time here?"
"We should always celebrate our victories here!" Sapphira declared, "We need to have something to be proud of."
"I'm not sure this is it," Adira whispered. Hosanna was pretty sure she was the only one who heard her, "But congrats Hosanna!"
Maybe Adira had similar views to her, but hopefully she also understood the importance of preservation, and that surely expressing those beliefs would get her killed. Still, Hosanna hoped that eventually if the careers got into arguments, they'd be able to take the same side.
Adira Price - District 4 Female - Age 17
Adira should have never even considered joining the career pack; not when they approached her and Luca at breakfast, and not when Mags suggested she become a double agent. Maybe the careers were good people, but more likely than not, they were a cult of killers. Who the hell celebrated when they killed somebody, much less a stranger in broad daylight. The more time Adira spent with them, the more normal she felt, even though she was by no means a normal person, though normal didn't necessarily mean bad. She was in a fight to the death because she found a note on the beach, yet she was less odd than the gang of murderers she foolishly inserted herself into.
Even though it was only the second day in the arena, Adira was already planning her escape from the careers. She had become way too accustomed to simply going with the flow, which was now harming her in a place where she couldn't afford to be faced with any harm. She decided that as soon as the alliance's paths crossed, she'd go with her friends, and never look back.
Tulip Everly - District 11 Female - Age 18
Tulip was honestly starving. While she had debated going to the Cornucopia during the bloodbath, as soon as she started hearing cannons fire, she ran away into the city side of the arena, which left her without anything. Luckily she was sheltered in an alleyway which happened to have a pipe which let off water, but Tulip wasn't quite sure how safe the water was, so she only drank it in emergencies. She had managed to rip another pipe off the wall, so at least she had a metal bar with her just in case somebody tried to cross her. She decided that it was best for her to wander into the forest, because the "hunger" part of "The Hunger Games" was beginning to take its toll on her body and the only plants in the city were flowers that didn't look edible.
When Tulip first entered the forest, it was drizzling, which she didn't mind since she could stick out her tongue and let the droplets hit her tongue which was extremely refreshing. Tulip wandered until she found a bush of what appeared to be blueberries. She whiffed them and could immediately tell they weren't poisonous so she took a handful and put them in her mouth.
So far the arena hadn't lived up to Tulip's expectations. She'd thought she'd accumulate at least a few kills by now, yet when the time came, she couldn't help but be too scared of losing her own life. Seeing her reflection in the leaves off the trees caused her to ponder. How could things change so quickly? Her confidence was completely down the gutter and she hated every moment of it. How had she let this happen to her? Maybe she truly was better off dead but that wasn't a concept she felt like exploring until it became more obvious that she wouldn't make it but for now, she was fine. She had her supply of berries, and could get water easily if she needed it. Sure she had no confidence, but that would surely be restored once she won. Tulip was extremely excited to make kills though, and if all else continued, she wouldn't mind hunting down people herself. Her crowbar had to come in handy eventually. Right?
Brandon Colt - District 10 Male - Age 18
Brandon and Louis were quick to get over the death of Xan and Isaac. Though it was sad, the Games truly were survival of the fittest, and they simply were not the fittest, which is something they had no time to deal with. Though they didn't go to the Cornucopia after being scared off by half their alliance dying, they awoke the next morning in their camping spot which was right by a cave, to the pleasant surprise of peanut and jelly sandwiches, as well as two bottles of water. While it wasn't much, it was sufficient. The second day was mainly spent trying to find plants to make into soup, and by dusk, they had been successful in their conquest.
"This is pretty damn good," Louis said, taking a sip from the cup he had fashioned out of leaves, "For the arena that is, I guess."
"For sure." Brandon replied. Louis had been acting tense all day, so Brandon was practically walking on eggshells since the last thing he wanted was to start a fight, "Today was productive enough."
"I wish we killed someone," Louis grunted, "That would have been productive."
"Well then there would have been a chance that they would kill us," Brandon replied, slightly horrified by the nature of the discussion, "Eventually your time will come, but please don't kill me."
"I won't." Louis said, "I promise."
The seemingly chaotic energy of the alliance seemed to have subsided since the loss of Xan and Isaac. While they were sweet kids, they were also loud and obnoxious at times, which in hindsight would have made the whole alliance vulnerable had they lived past the bloodbath. In addition, the sheer irony of a young girl killing Xan was objectively hilarious, though Brandon didn't want to openly laugh at the death of a former friend. Cadence would hate it if the cameras were on Brandon for some reason, and he didn't want to make him upset, though he missed him oh so dearly, and couldn't help but tear up whenever he looked down at his ring. Showing emotions had always been disgusting to Brandon, but when it was about Cadence, it was different.
"Do you miss him?" Louis softly asked, noticing Brandon was once again tearing up.
"Always." Brandon sighed, "That boy is the love of my life and I hope I can marry him someday."
"What's it like?" Louis said after a long pause, "Being in love?"
Brandon had no idea how to explain it so he just told his truth. He talked about how Cadence was the only person that saw him as more than a criminal, and truly understood his motives behind theft. He talked about Cadence's ability to get along with Brandon's younger siblings, and how quickly he assimilated into the family.
"Everywhere I look, I see his face," Brandon sighed as he concluded his silly little speech as love, crying a bit more than he had earlier, "And it's a beautiful face."
"From what you've described, it seems like it." Louis said, "Love sounds beautiful."
"It is, Louis."
"Maybe one day I'll have it with Ryan."
"It doesn't have to be Ryan," Brandon sighed. The only thing he knew about this Ryan dude was that Louis' feelings were far from reciprocated, "He's not the only guy out there."
"I know, I know." Louis said, "But he's the only guy for me."
Ok yay day two is done! I have a poll up on my profile, for all the remaining tributes, and whoever get's the most votes will get a surprise so vote vote vote!
